Lanning did not inherit 20 years of mediocrity, neither did Butch. Butch's greatest asset wasn't out recruiting everyone, it was talent evaluation which I believe he might be the best we've ever seen.

Butch was so good at going passed just physical traits and finding what made someone tick mentally and figuring out if they were truly motivated and/or leaders. He did all of the above at a truly elite level.

Butch took the Browns to the playoffs in 2002

It was probably the single greatest coaching job in football history

Fun fact but 2002 Bruce Arians was his OC. Dude was arguably just as good at evaluating coaches as he was players. Todd Bowles was a defensive assistant on that staff and Chuck was DBs of course

I didn't understand the level of what you're saying until we lived it x3 in the last 5 years. Sad sad way to go and seriously it starts long before people accept the reality.

Truly. I’m not a doctor but I’ve pretty much made this my lifes work at the moment after seeing it up close

A lot of exciting research about creatine at the moment

Saban goofy *** is up there with him on evals. And Mario evals are hit and miss. People have talked up some of his hidden gems including myself and we haven’t heard from them. They are still hidden. We will see this year though.

Think JJ has to be put up at the top of any list regarding Eval’s …guy was great at finding diamonds….

You think Lanning had to adjust FUNDING compared to Mario? Stop it lol. Like is this real life?

Anyway I will say it again. Mario is in year 4. Hes been above average at best on the field here. AT BEST. This team as a whole on paper (assuming Beck is healthy of course) IMHO is better than last year's squad. As a whole... coaching remains to be a seen.

ACCCG and Playoffs.

Year one I wanted 6 wins. Got it
Two 8 wins. Fail
Three 10 wins. Got it (no the ending did not amuse me)

The track has been upward. Keep it moving. No excuses.

I didn't pay too much mind to cfb at that time so everyone else would know better than me. But from 99ish casually watching I never seen anything like Butch. But what Bama did was the scariest thing I seen longevity wise. Pause

But thats what my eyes tell me, others could feel different about it

I agree that Butch was probably the best but JJ found a lot of low rated players that turned out to be really good players.

I seriously doubt many scouts have actually been watching Mauigoa enough to be having serious debates about his position at the next level yet lol. The 25 draft just ended, and Mauigoa wasn’t eligible for it. The don’t generally scout over a year early like that… certainly the GMs don’t
