This CAN’T end WELL for you.

Seantrel had some maturity stuff. But even then, he played a lot for us and would have started in the NFL for years if not for Crohn's Disease.
Why do you think we missed on the Pancake evaluation so badly?

He had a monster rookie year. Crazy how fast he was out the league after.

That’s how it works out we hit on 1 of our 2 5* OL. That’s about the hit rate for 5* recruits.

A kid Samson’s size with his athleticism, you always take and hope they take to training and working hard.
I want Pepe most

But you take this kid and bet on potential all day long

(Actually I like Tofi most but it ruined the joke)

Yeah it was just Miami who took a chance on him. He wasn’t a 5 star and recruited by every school in the country. He’s also still relatively young, some players, especially on the OL/DL take time to develop.

I agree with you in general, however we have quite possibly the top OL evaluators in the country and they thought he was a future 1st overall pick. The gap between what they thought and what he is, is significant

I swear I’m not being an apologist, ya’ll know me. I understand the 5* label is muddying things with him but if he starts in 2026, and goes on to be a top 50 pick, is he a bust? Especially considering he sat behind 3 NFL guys in Francis, a projected R1 guy, Rivers and Bell (not saying he is an R1 guy, but I’ve said my thoughts here).

They get grace when it comes to OL. Not so much on many other positions like DB,LB,DE,DT, etc

Where does this urban legend of top evaluators even come from?

In 2023 we got Mauigoa which isn’t an eval. Pancake probably isn’t either

The “evals” were:

Tripp - gone
Tinilau - gone
Kinsler - ?

Or is this just from Anez Cooper in 2022?

You right

Still early on Samson to call him a bust. Sometimes OL takes time to develop, but given what I can only assume is one of the highest NILs on the teams… I’d imagine the ROI is putrid there.

I can second this. I was Seantrell's peer mentor (amongst a lot of other players) when he was on campus. Smart kid, worked hard, but you had to motivate and keep on him. If he was surrounded by good, hard working people he would do much much better, if he was around a bad crowd, he would follow... problem is that team didnt have a clear leader to keep on him. I am also not talking like he was a bad egg robbing people, small stuff that adds up. **** dude once passed out on my couch and left his playbook there silly **** like that thats frustrating for a coach.
