ITT We Follow Potential 2015 Coaching Candidate Week 4

Attacking Houston defense causes a turnover after one of their receivers fumbled the ball in Tulsa territory. They sent a blitz off the edge to create pressure and went with a single-high safety look. Tulsa's QB rolled out to his right and the pressure influenced an errant throw. The safety had a beat on it the whole way and made the easy interception on the vertical shot down the right sideline.

This is a really fun game to watch. Greg Ward Jr. is putting on a show.

Just putting a name out there, and not giving an opinion one way or the other but interested in the board's take: Steve Addazzio.

Lol rather have the coach from NC state

Doeren? Not a bad name either, he had NIU playing hard *** football a few years back.

The thing with Addazzio is that he has one of the hardest schools to recruit to playing hard nosed football and giving teams like FSU and USC everything they can handle (including a win over SC). Offensive background I believe but the defense is physical. Seems like an energetic guy and I believe he was recruiting coordinator at UiF...just something to think about.

I know I may catch flack for this but I still like Chris Petersen as a football coach and I think he could use a change of scenery from Washington. I know he has been average since leaving Boise but I think he could be good for us once he leaves the difficulty of the Pac 12. Facing Oregon, USC, Utah, Arizona, Arizona St and Stanford could be a real b*tch on a yearly basis. Also, he could be a new version of Dennis Erickson. A westerner with an innovative offensive mind who had an average record in two years at a PAC 12 school before coming to Miami and dominating. I'd like him added to the list as well. Also, I know the school was interested in him before we hired Fat Al and rumor had it that they offered him 3 mil per year but he turned it down. Can anyone confirm that? I wonder if the school would buy him out like they were planning to do before when he was at Boise.

Think he's a Northwest guy. Something about having a child with some sort of condition, and he is comfortable with the care the family gets up there. Good thought process but I don't see him ever leaving that region.

Houston came into today's game ranked 26th in the country in third down conversion percentage (46.8%). They've converted 8-of-17 so far today. By comparison, for those who don't know, Miami ranks 126th out of 127 at 24.5%.

Houston's Kenneth Farrow just busted a 20+ yard run to set up first and goal at Tulsa's 5. They immediately came flying up to the LOS and kept the pressure on, snapping it quick and running right up the middle with Farrow out of zone-read to score and extend their lead to 31-17.

Really impressed by what I've seen today.

More third down defense from Herman's Houston Cougars. Delayed LB blitz up the middle is beautifully executed and results in a sack. They sent six rushers and got home again. Haven't watched the whole game, but there have been several times where I've seen Houston's defense pin its ears back and bring the heat on third down. That's at least their fourth sack of the game.

It's not just the results on the scoreboard, it's the style of play. And this is why my head explodes when I see certain Miami fans talking about Charlie Strong being a great fit here while his team gets annihilated 50-0 and continues to look atrocious. Those fans aren't watching that game, this game, or any game. Open your eyes, people.

Just as I type that, Houston converts a 3rd & 8 with a 20+ yard pass play.

Houston's kicker misses another field goal. Bullard is the only reason this game isn't already on ice, but they still lead by 14 with under 6:00 remaining.

Houston's D forces a fumble and gets the takeaway. Ballgame.

Tulsa scored 38 points on the road at Oklahoma last week. They've only scored 17 at home against Houston today. And their offense looked terrific with dynamism both through the air and on the ground. Their kicker missed multiple field goals, but they still put up 30+.

Houston dials up a perfectly timed QB draw on 3rd & long to convert yet another third down with 2:58 left. 12-of-22 on third down today. They run zone-read with Farrow on the very next play and pop a 44-yard touchdown run to pour it on and extend the lead.

They were favored by a touchdown and they'll end up winning by three TDs unless Tulsa's adds a garbage time score.

Georgia D swarming early. Forced fumble on the first drive, 3rd and 1 stuff on the second.

I believe his son is completely healthy and is now a high school junior. However, you are correct in that he is a Pacific NW guy but so was Erickson. I say make him an offer and let him tell you no. I still believe he is an elite coach and Washington is not going to win the PAC 12 over USC, Oregon, UCLA, or Stanford anytime soon. Even Utah and Arizona cause some problems for him going forward. ACC coastal would be much easier to navigate.

You gonna re-visit this thread/post?

Kiffin is KILLING Pruitt ...

The whole team got smashed, defense included. Great game by Alabama.

Listening to Saban and Meyer talk after games always reinforces how bad Golden is.

Golden sings the team's praises for hanging on to beat Nebraska. Urban Meyer looked ****ed because of how close Indiana played them. And Saban looked like he knew they would win by 4 TDs.

I agree, he's a NU lifer, but his name never gets mentioned, but guys like Patterson and Kingsbury have thrown around and we have no chance with them either. I just really like Fitzgerald, he's an underrated guy on the national level in my unhumble opinion. My gut says that our next HC will be Schiano.
