ITT We Follow Potential 2015 Coaching Candidate Week 4

Tom Herman somehow got a 5* DT to commit to him as well

That makes me feel like something illegal may be happening.
That's a good sign IMO. No one is turning a program around without cutting corners. It's just a fact of college football.

I don't think they paid him because they don't have money like OU & LSU (other schools that he likes). I think Herman gave the right pitch so he committed. Doubtful a 5* dt sticks to Houston, but huge for him to even commit there

Honestly I don't see Herman leaving Houston after one year. Morris I think would leave. Fuente in his 3rd year would as well. Herman not so sure. They have a nice talent base to recruit from and he can turn them into a legit team. Will see.

Teams I anticipate will be looking for new coaches that we will be competing against

UVA
South Carolina
Arkansas
VT possibly
Rutgers
Maryland
Illinois

there just aren't many big name programs. If we handle our business properly we could possibly get the best coach out there.

Texas..

Man seeing what mcelwain just did in his first year has me rustled. The low expectations at Miami are **** near criminal. Just can't take no more. Either get a real coach or shut the program down.

Georgia D swarming early. Forced fumble on the first drive, 3rd and 1 stuff on the second.

You gonna re-visit this thread/post?

Kiffin is KILLING Pruitt ...

The whole team got smashed, defense included. Great game by Alabama.

Was at the game, Alabama's defensive players looked like NFL guys while Georgia's did not. Pruitt has some work to do with his unit cause they are not very talented.

If we make an aggressive offer I think he would leave. We would need to convince him that this is a destination job where he could build a dynasty or win a ring and go to the nfl

He is a Houston kid... I heard on the radio that he showed his staff or team the U documentary and told them why can't we do this here?

I knew he was Houston born and raised but I've seen so many examples of how that goes nowhere with the in city school but I agree with Kyle on this one. I think Herman made the pitch of pitches and got a blue-chipper on board at least temporarily which even in the likely event he goes elsewhere getting the temporary commitment in and of itself is incredibly impressive.

Exactly my point with Herman, and people thinking he would automatically leave Houston for Miami.

Houston is a great city ... And the state of Texas can deliver all the talent you need to field the team.

But hopefully, the Power 5 connection and more relevant brand would be of interest to him. But if Houston is willing to match salaries, I could see him staying there.

Fuente can be had. The question will be does South Carolina or Vanderbilt beat us for his services ...

Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Arkansas will probably open up. Maybe South Carolina.

And you're an idiot.

Nah.
Herman is a Texan.
He will probably sit tight in Houston and wait for one of the jobs to open with the big Texas schools or nearby Oklahoma.
Especially the one in Austin.
There is nothing for him in Coral Gables that he can't get at Houston right now, especially with regards to commitments.
Houston wants to have an excellent program, and they are WILLING to do something about it.
UM? LULZ.

you think Texas goes after him if they fire strong? Depending on how his season plays out of course

You answered your own question! lol.
It all depends on how he fares this season.
I think his two toughest remaining games are against Memphis and Navy.
The last 2 UH coaches have ended up at Baylor and TexasAM and done well in the process.
Rivals tend to copycat.
I can see the folks in Austin coming after him.

BTW.....I noted that he is a Texan. Technically, he is not as he was born in Cincinnati and grew
up in soCal.....but he has alot of ties to the Lonestar State, so for all intents and purposes.....

If Herman goes undefeated, getting Houston to a New Year's Day bowl, and Texas doesn't go to a bowl game ... Herman will be the Texas HC in 2016.

Texas will not accept being behind TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, TAMU, and Houston! Being 7th in the state won't fly! And if SMU finishes with a better record than Strong, there's now way he keeps his gig. SMU was 1-11 last season. SMU actually played TCU closer than Texas did ... And Morris is in year 1 ...

What a clown you are. You, Paranos, and MIATL talking about hiring coaches from D2 schools like Montana and Memphis. Sit down before you hurt yourself

Assuming Herman says no and the admin doesn't want Butch, my top two are Pruitt and Fuente.

Lol

I know.

Only a genius like you could know that coaches who barely won 50% of their games at Oklahoma State and Washington State would go on to win 3 national titles between them.

Lol

There's a boatload of talent on that UGA defense.
