ITT We Follow Potential 2015 Coaching Candidate Week 4

Chip Kelly would be amazing here. He's 20-12 the last two years so I'm not sure how many loses he needs to get fired.

I'm an Eagles fan and I'll admit that I'm not going to visit the Eagles message board for the next couple of days. I suspect he's already starting to lose a contingent of the fan base. These first two games have been terrible to put it kindly. I don't he's a realistic candidate to come here because he'll cost too much but his offense would kill it here. Problem would be, as it was with Oregon, whether he could field a competitive defense which he failed to do often if my memory is correct. Also, his offense tended to be shut down by stout defenses such as Stanford.

His recruiting base would be filled with much better defensive players (except DT). If he gets fired, I don't think he would pass up a job where he could win right away like Miami. As inept as our BOT is, they would offer Chip a big contract to come here imo

I think our decision makers could easily *** it up. Watch them ask for a resume. Watch them try to nickel and dime him.

Anyone watch Memphis v. Bowling Green? That was a fun game. The AAC will be an interesting conference this year.

Memphis couldn't stop BGSU on O ... The game against Ole Miss may get ugly.

If Fuente keeps that game close, he's the guy from the college current landscape.

I think he's going to see the SMU and Houston games as opportunities to prove he's the next "up and comer". I'm looking forward to seeing those games.

A few things:

1. Dino Babers is a good coach and his teams score points. That game was a shoot out and when two good offensive minded coaches met that result can happen.

2. That game against Ole Miss will be a big one. Last year at Ole Miss the score was 7-3 Ole Miss going into the 4th Quarter. Not bad for Memphis against #10 Ole Miss. Memphis also played #11 UCLA last year in the Rose Bowl and Memphis lost by 7 points. That game, this year, against Houston could be interesting as well.

3. This week Memphis plays Cincinnati and we're off. People should check them out and see what this guy can do.

Tom Herman's stock continues to go up in my eyes, even during a bye week at Houston.

Ohio State barely squeaked by Northern Illinois on Saturday, 20-13, with a very sloppy offensive performance. Considering how poorly both Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett are playing right now, it's clear that that the Buckeyes are really missing Herman in the early stages of the season -- not only as their co-OC, but also as their QB coach. Jones and Barrett will surely turn it around considering their talent and the laughable ease of OSU's schedule, but Urban Meyer seems very displeased with how the transition from Herman to Ed Wariner is going thus far.

But yet we have the owner of this site throwing Tracy Howard under the bus.

I was thinking the exact same thing after the Northern Illinois game. Their offense has been disjointed since Herman left.

Remember the last time Urb lost his trusted OC? A guy named Mullen. His offense went in the toilet after that too. It was a similar situation too because Urb replaced Mullen with his OL coach, Adazzio, just like this time when he moved another OL coach (Wariner) into the OC gig.

This Memphis offense is legit. Defense is not that good but they only have 3 returning starters. In 2014 they had the 21st ranked defense. This fuente fella seems to be the real deal

Memphis also has a new DC. The DC from last year is now the DC at Mizzou.

Fuente is legit!

11 wins in a row!

Games against Ole Miss, SMU, and Temple will be very interesting, IMO.

With the Kiffin rumors out there, I think Fuente, Morris, and Herman are the candidates.

Fuente is already in the region and has the longest HC tenure. TCU experience is a good fit for Miami, IMO.

Morris has ACC connections and recruited the area. He's worked miracles with the SMU offense in 1 offseason, and the Clemson O doesn't look as good as it did when he was their OC.

Herman has the recent COY award and NC. Plus, he's a genius ... Literally. And th Ohio State offense has fallen off without him.

Each coach will need to make a solid hire for DC. Whoever can do that would be my favorite. Offensively, we'll be in good hands with any of them at HC, IMO.

Assuming we're in the market for a new HC after this season ...

That's a solid list. I think any of those three would do wonders at Miami.

I am not denying Chad Morris's ability to coach an offense and his potential as a HC. He certainly deserves a shot to be HC; he interviewed at TT (2012) and he is now the HC at SMU. Now that Morris is the HC, shouldn't we at least wait to see how he does first?

I don't see how he is a sure thing or why there is so much confidence in his abilities. He has tough games against Houston and Memphis. I would be on a wait and see with Morris.

Agree.

But, for me, Morris' familiarity with the ACC is a positive in his consideration. Maybe it shouldn't be ... But I think there is value in him having coached in Doak Walker before, and in him recruiting to the conference.

But I get your point.

Golden and RS have the same experience (Doak Walker and Recruiting), do you want them as HC?

IMO, Morris is on a wait and see list. As we know, no one is a "sure thing" but Morris is definitely a riskier choice. Now that we see him running a WHOLE program, we get to see what he can really do.
