ITT We Discuss Possible Golden Replacements

Strong, Dantonio, Franklin...keep dreaming.

Miami will never touch Butch again. Petrino can't recruit. Chudzinski seems to have a lot of Mike Martz to him.

I would start with Mark Stoops. I would call McElwain, Curtis Johnson, Cristobal for interviews from the college ranks. I know this won't play well after that stupid video, but I would also give Willie Taggart a LOOOONG look.

WOAT list right here, easily. May god help us if anyone in the AD thinks like you do.

The guys on that list fit the profile of the guys who have been successful here before. They have head coaching experience, have worked with impressive mentors, and in the case of all but Stoops, have had success as the head guy before. They can all recruit.

We can't afford Strong, Franklin or Dantonio. Rather, we have shown no history at all of ever paying up the money those guys currently command.

Personally, I don't want another first time head coach...we went down that road and got burned by Coker and Randy...so that rules out guys like Chad Morris, Pat Narduzzi and Kirby Smart.

I assume you don't like the lack of big names. Quick, go find me all the big name coaches Miami has hired in the history of the program. I'll hang up and listen.

He left here a week after being hired last time. Cristobal has no chance. So take your meds and shut that **** sucker of yours.

I don't think Butch would ever come back but lmao at mediocre4life's logic

Butch burned bridges 13 years ago = 0 chance

Cristobal burns bridges last year = pencil him in as next HC

Seems legit.

Instead of the thoughtless blanket "he's not coming" let's discuss his candidacy.

Thinking about him logically, I don't think we can automatically rule him out. Let's look at the problems with hiring Butch:

1. The way he left. First that was nearly 15 years ago. None of that administration is still here. Shalala wasn't here. Paul Dee is dead. It's a new regime and it's a decade and a half later.

2. He lied when he left. So. Almost all coaches do when they leave. Rumors swirl, they address rumors and say they're staying, then they leave. Due to the nature of the profession, that's just how it works.

3. The UNC scandal. By all accounts that was all one individual, John Blake. Butch has a letter from the ncaa exonerating him. Plus a little time has elapsed since the scandal. Time is your friend in these matters.

Here is the upside of hiring him:

1. Apparently we thought highly enough of his character once to run a clean program, why not again? I don't remember Davis having a lot of players getting in trouble etc when he coached here before. He was brought in to clean things up and he did so. He's still the same guy.

2. He's not a flight risk this time. He's gotten the nfl out of his system. He's satisfied his ambition. He's a little older now and you have to think this would be his last stop. Some stability at the hc position is something we desperately need.

3. Recruiting. Enough said.

Is our administration really not gonna give the guy a shot because he moved to a bigger and better job 15 years ago? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Let it go and grow up. This needs to be about hiring the right coach, not some vindictive butthurt bs from 15 years ago. The more I think about this the more Davis seems like the perfect fit for us...again. Now, do I have faith that our administration will look at this as logically as I have? Ummmm....

he has unfinished business here. if he stayed, he was bama. usc dynasty never happened. also, he is the guy who can firm up the recruits by saying "look at the level of player i put into the nfl."

Butched burned bridges a couple weeks ago with that stupid article....IF there was a small chance of him coming, it went to ZERO with that article. Name I like (need to pair with a good DC) is Kevin Wilson Indiana...he could do amazing things with the offensive talent in S. Fla. Slowly improving a losing situation at IU.

he can groom someone, perhaps coley to take over. leave coley as oc and bring in someone like oregron. anyway, golden didn't leave yet so it dont matter.

Also helps Butch in recruiting to point to Quinn in St. Louis as a 1st team all pro. More 1st rounders, HOF'ers, pro bowlers and all pros then anyone!
