Is this our best staff ever?

1986 Jimmy Johnson's staff had 3 future NFL head coaches, 2 NFL coordinators, and 1 college head coach.

They became head coaches and coordinators LATER, so they did not have the experience AT THAT TIME like these guys have. I mean Long and Steele combined have more coaching experience than that entire staff (while at Miami)! They’re both in their 60’s and have been coaching for more than 30 years.. that’s more than 60 years of experience coaching between them! Crazy!! This staff has former head coaches, nfl guys, future head coaches, you name it. But they ain’t done nothing yet so all we can look at is past resumes and this current staff has better resumes coming in no doubt

'86 is the best. ****, Tubbs, Pagano, and Ron Meeks were GA's on that team.

Here's the next best one, IMO. Butch's 2000 staff: 3 future NFL head coaches, 2 future college head coaches (1 of whom won a BCS title).

Greg Schiano - DC
Chuck Pagano - DB/ST
Rob Chudzinski - TE
Larry Coker - OC/QB
Curtis Johnson - WR

Its a different type of staff. Historically, the genesis of 4 of our 5 title staffs can be traced back to young guys whom Jimmy Johnson knew, trusted, and saw something in, and would go on to plant their flags both at UM and elsewhere. But no, Miami's never had one like this before either where a group of established guys are being pulled together from all levels and corners of the Earth.

Honesty, you can still argue that this is a Jimmy Johnson staff. The guy putting this all together was recruited by him. Crazy that man's genius for football and people. Living legend.

People are bringing up old staffs with after the fact knowledge. Resumès, people. This is probably the most proven and experienced staff Miami has ever seen upon arrival.

That's the way I took the question.

As a group, this is far and away the most impressive group of coaches we've ever had assembled as a first year staff under a new head coach.

Vastly superior resume and experience.

How that turns out, guess we'll see. They have a lot to try and live up to.

Not sure if we’ve ever had a staff this good on paper? Particularly in terms of recruiting. This is a different feeling from the usual The U is back.
Let's see how the season goes before we label this the best staff UM has ever had.

Take your hindsight out of this...
If you're talking about who the coaches were BEFORE arriving to Miami...
Then yes.
You can’t unsee something. Jimmy’s assistants make his staffs the best ever. We’ll never see that again. Ever

This. Those who later turned out to be succefful coaches were relatively unknown when joining the team. But still, it speaks of coaches' talent evaluating skills of both JJ and Butch.

Maude Note: Moved from Recruiting board to Eye in the Sky board as most discussion relates to coaching not recruiting.
I don't know, how many games have they won.
