Is the ACC better than we think?

DMoney - I'm a somewhat recent UM fan - an avid fan since 1973 - and you're on to something, for certain.

I recall when Schnellenberger got here, we weren't part of any conference - and suddenly we went all over the US playing different teams - who played different types of football.

We lost a lot - but we learned a lot.

Year after year - and by the time 1983 came around - we got a chance to play the mighty Nebraska - touted as so big, so powerful, and so strong.

We won. Barely, but we won - with a redshirt Freshman QB.

We see all kinds of teams in the ACC - that play all kinds of football, and it was only "recently" that GT was weaned off the Wishbone! That was an annual Circus!

So yeah! The ACC is diverse - and with NIL - more emphasis on football, and not entirely concentrated on basketball.

More mavericks - fewer plow horses.

The ACC gets slammed because it’s made up mostly of smaller private schools instead of large public schools like the Big 10 and SEC. But why should that impact the team on the field? It certainly didn’t when we played Texas A&M?

I’m not going to say it’s a top two conference but it’s not the dog water conference narrative that MSM pushes.

The ACC has very good coaching and QB play imo. The top to bottom talent isn’t there though, but as a result we see a lot of unique game plans.

Been saying it all year, having to prepare for many different styles of offenses & defenses in your conference is a very underrated task. It can nullify the talent gap you might have

That with our ooc schedule this year just look how many different styles of teams we played. These aren’t professional players, its hard to get them ready to play week to week while having to adjust

The ACC is clowned and will continue to be clowned because our schools lose games they should win out of conference in the regular season.

If SMU and Duke had won their OOC games the ACC would be viewed much, much differently this year.

SMU: TCU & Baylor
Duke: (ACC champ) loses to 3 out of conference loses!
