Is NC State Actually Good?

At least Canes cut down on the penalties last Sat. Sure wish Fletcher was playing.

If we play in the 1st half how we did vs Syracuse and Stanford, yes it will be 21-0 quickly. And won't be the defense's fault.

This is game 5 of a 7 straight game stretch and injuries are piling up. Past defensive results have no meaning on Saturday if we're down Scott, OJ, Moten, etc. because it's not the same defense.

Throw out terrible away when it comes to playing against us. Teams (especially heavy underdogs) tend to play above their heads against us. They become the most disciplined with less penalties, they make every FG, go all out with 4th down conversions and trick plays. If we dont come ready to play they could have us in a 14-0 whole the way Louisville did. The offense absolutely has to get points on their opening drive.

The acc has the most parity of any conference, not saying they have the best teams but literally every year we see mid tier acc teams either beat or give the top tier teams a run for their money

Thats why i dont just look at our schedule and count 8 easy wins anymore lol

It really hurts the conference when the bottom dwellers spent first half of season losing badly, especially to non-ACC teams, only to turn around and beat the presumed top conference teams late in the season. This conference is it's own worse enemy.
As for NCState, I watched their game vs VT and they got run on hard. They made VT offense look like '95 Nebraska offense. Then again, if I recall, the Hokie QB played a big part in the ground game. I'm not sure Beck could present similar problem for NCSU.

We remain one of the best run-stopping defenses in the entire country and NC State's offensive line is nothing special, so we should be able to stop the run without too much stress, but I expect Bailey to light us up in the pass game. Think SMU where the run game was a complete non-factor but Jennings threw for a career-high.

I am nervous.

Their rush defense is okay, not that that matters since we can't even run the ball effectively against ******* Syracuse. But the pass defense is exceptionally terrible.

THEY ARE RANKED 135TH IN THE COUNTRY IN PASSING YARDS ALLOWED. THAT IS SECOND-WORST IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. The only team that is worse? SMU. Kill me now.

I really couldn't be more nervous for this game. Bailey will obviously be pumped up for this one. NC State is a carbon-copy statistically to SMU and while Dave Doeren isn't the offensive guru that Lashlee is, he is a good coach who will have his guys ready to play.

Can we PLEASE get out to a fast start? Maybe try some play-action? Get the tight ends involved? Okay let's not get crazy.

If we had average game day coaching and preparation we would win this game 45-17
But
We have the ultimate Meathead and a staff full
Of HS level coaches…I expect a dog fight deep into second half and no chance of a cover!
