Is it just me or is Texas A&M fools gold?

Now is the time for the ball control conservative smash mouth football while getting the ball to Toney in space. Get the ball first, get some first downs and let the air out of the building.

it is feast or famine for the Aggie defense

they are one of the worst in the country at giving up big plays

but one of the best in the country on third down stops

they can be gashed in the running game and the passing game-

and against Texas their DL did nothing
Their big pass rusher has a 3 sack game against an G6 and most of the rest against a bunch of sub .500 SEC teams.

Elko is a heck of a football coach. They’ll be ready.

He did beat us in 2022 at Duke. Of course, that was when Jake Garcia threw for 3 interceptions and also lost 2 fumbles. Kighton, Key'shawn Smith and TVD also had a lost fumble each. A FCS bench warmer as our QB and 8 turnovers lol ... I don't think Elko needed to be a genius to win.

One game at a time . Hit the qb often and hard . I say 85 bear style the qb first drive and put him out . Send a nesssge

I still think any team with an OL and DL like that is a tough matchup. I worry about Reed’s ability to scramble as well. I do think having Beck is a really great advantage because I don’t think he’s going to be rattled.

If we can get Keionte back and he can play even at 85% of what he was, that can be the difference. He was the best DB in America before he went down and the defense was a swarm.
We’ve done a remarkable job on defense staying disciplined against these types of QBs

Hopefully we keep that up. He’s definitely a threat

The 3rd down thing is kinda misleading for them too. A lot of teams often move the chains on them before 3rd down. It’s just if they get you there they hold.

I think this is a true 50/50 game. Neutral field I’d say Miami wins 6 or 7 times out of 10, but at Kyle Field it’s anyone’s game. Anyhow, this is the game of the weekend. We definitely lucked out with early kick.

Sounds like a Manny Diaz defense

Based on this. Tell me how you feel
It's a pretty even matchup by the analytics tbh. And of the teams ranked 5-12, I think us, A&M, and Oregon are the 3 best teams. This is about Two Qbs who can have a really bad turnover game, which ultimately is what this game will likely come down to - as most football games do. Do we force 2 Turnovers, or do they? IF one side does they likely win. If we commit a bunch of presnap penalties we probably will have a long day on offense.

We'll have to chip Howell a bit which can shut him down, but I'm not particularly worried about the 1v1s vs their DLine. They will have some exotic pressures which Is how I think they generate more of their pressure. The thing is they have given up some explosive runs, but we have zero ability to do that especially with Brown or Fletcher. I think we need Pringle to have success. They gave up a lot of rushing to Arch pretty sure, though Beck has been complete garbage at this year. Genuinely terrible EPA everytime he scrambles. He's ALWAYS like 2 yards short of every 1st he runs for. This is just a game our WRs have to win and make plays and break tackles. I think Jojo/Moore needs to take a lot of pressure off Toney and give us a valid deep threat.

Defensively I think our Dline will dominate. If Leveon Moss is back he's a threat. But otherwise this game is 100% about stopping their 2 WRs and TACKLING - which our LBs generally suck at (and our Dline never brings Qbs down for sacks!)... But that's what it'll come down to defensively. Do we allow explosive plays to their WRs and do we wrap up..

We play clean offensively I think we win. I trust our defense to hold them to under 24. I think our DLine will terrorize Reed. And Ultimately as you've pointed out (Think it was you) they don't actually force that many turnovers particularly INTs. Which is very good news for us. Sure they may have been good this year in terms of succes rate vs others, but the opponents they were going against didnt have an offense as capable as ours. So if they aren't generating turnovers, I don't think they'll ultimately keep up and our Defense will get more stops on them than they can on us.

Good stuff.

If moss plays he’ll be limited but I mostly agree with that you said. This is the first a&m team in recent memory that doesn’t have a great cover corner imo. Our WR’s should be able to run around a bit. I’m terrified for our linebackers though, this will be the toughest game they’ll have ever played I think. They’ll be tested all night. I know people are down on Jojo but if there was ever a game for him to get off it’s this one. Mali is Mali but they’re gonna do whatever they can to take him away, and their best cover guy will probably see CJ. If somehow we can get Jojo looks we’ll get some explosives

I mean to me their entire offense is Craver and Concepcion. They break a lot of tackles too. Particularly Craver after the catch, who operates 90% in the slot for them (Concepcion is like 33% slot). Bethel-Roman is fine outside but mostly eats off Defenses not being able to stop Craver and Concepcion. Luckily we are very deep at CB though, so I don't think he'll be a threat. And I'm not worried about their TEs. Boerkircher they use as a little bit of a redzone weapon, but otherwise their pass offense is entirely about getting Craver and KC the ball

For me I'm not worried about Rueben Owens at all. And he's a legit liability in the pass game for them. Every snap he's on the field imo is good for us. The Right side is better at Run blocking than their left and the opposite is true for pass blocking. Their RT+RG have given up 33 pressures and 20 penalties this year compared to their LT+LG giving up 17 pressures and 7 penalties. I think run downs we want Bain over their RT, but pass downs we want Mesidor there. Lets see if we can get them to add someone to chip Bain while on their best pass protector (their LT is by far). But I definitely expect a lot of Bain and Mesidor lined up on the right side together.

I'm interested to see if Heatherman does as many designed blitzes on 3rd downs with like the Nickels/Safeties. Cause TBH this is a game I really wouldn't do that nearly as much. Reed is a far worse Qb when he's forced to read progressions. His QB rating and Passing grade when blitzed is 122 and 79.6. When he isn't blitzed its 88.8 and 55.9 respectively. That's almost a bigger delta than his play Clean vs Under pressure.
Also he has a 16:1 TD:INT ratio and 73% comp% on Play Action vs a 9:9 TD:INT ratio with 56% Comp% on Non Play Action. To me I'm just worried aobut our safeties getting beat deap on play action, and just making sure our LBs+DBs Wrap up. WE gotta shut down like the little short crossing routes. like 33% Mario Cravers targets are at the LOS. They use him basically how we use Toney

Concepcion, they target him over the middle short+intermediate and outside Deep.
Craver, they target him over the middle at all levels. We need Scott on him.
Bethel-Johnson, they target Deep and middle intermediate... We don't want Damari on him at all imo.
Ohrstro, they target outside short.

I agree with your point about being worried about our LBs. A&M primarily feasts over the middle, and their WRs break tackles.

They are not to be taken lightly because they have speed on offense but this is what Mario built the team for...RUN THE DANG BALL.

We gonna run it down their throats. A and B gap them to death....they will tap out. We have a much bigger and physical OL than Texas and they wanted n part of it.

Finnesse *** team.

Championship football, control the clock, run the ball and play good defense.

Remember Mario learned from Saban and this is how he won his ships. This is how Kirby won his ships.
