Is Duke Really Gone After This Year?

I've said it from the beginning.

This guy's love for the canes is real and he wants to win a BCS bowl game here.

I think he'll stay.

U don't know if he loves the coaches though, that super seeds anything. If his mom is saying **** that means she has talked to her son and he's talking through her. Read between the lines bruh.

the problem is w the moms saying stuff is that there have been recent examples of moms wanting their kids to go somewhere and have gone somewhere else. Landon Collins/Gerald Willis, Jacoby Brissett, I'm sure Tracys mom was Pro UF (wasn't she a gator grad or something)

She just said this, she didn't say this three years ago. It means she has talked to her son and he's not happy...period. Will he admit that to the press **** no but I know what it is.

ok then i take back what i said. i dont blame him for not being happy based on how his three years have gone in terms of team success. he's gone after this year regardless if we were good or not. he's still a cane throughout ever since HS and **** always be one regardless of our team success. the other thing is that mom should know better and not out of her son like that on FB. be smarter than that even if he isn't happy but the last thing u want to do is make things worse for duke in the media if he's asked bout this by reporters.

You mean SILENCE is GOLDEN?

Why should either be happy. He should be the focal point of this offense and he is not being utilized. He is better off taking 3rd round money and moving on. Get the money while you can another bad injury and he may not get the chance.

Ok, I'm confused. Other than her saying that she wanted him to go to Bama (which she has already admitted in the past), what else was said? Can I get a link or something?

Think about this Gurley would be a cane if Butch Davis were coach.

When you act like Butch is infallible and would get every top recruit and win every game, it discredits the entire position and raises people's expectations unreasonably high

Cutt it out Butch is a beast he had Gurley to unc, some players wouldn't probably be here to be honest if he were coach. He gets football players not athletes that can't play, our staff doesn't have that eye or they can't develope.

Except Gurley didn't go to UNC, he went to UGA. I agree that Butch is better than Al, and would put together a better staff than the one we currently have. But that doesn't mean he is the best coach to ever stand on the sidelines, and I fear the rhetoric has started heading in that direction

Butch had him signed sealed and delivered. Then he got fired.

Gurley was never committed to UNC, if I recall correctly. If you find a link that says otherwise, then I'm wrong there.

But regardless, my point wasn't only about Gurley. I think Butch is the guy. I also think some might be developing unrealistic expectations.

Get your money boy. You deserve it. Kids given everything he has, it would have been even worse without him,

What if he gets his projection back from the NFL and it's for the 3rd round? What if he rolls the dice anyway, declares and then goes in the 4th round? Is he really getting "paid" then? Like I mentioned, wouldn't the more prudent immediate financial move to be to get a massive insurance policy and come back with an ever improving Kaaya and solidify yourself as a 2nd rounder and make 2x the immediate money you would have if all goes to **** for you in this year's Draft? I know he's a ball of muscle despite his height but isn't there at least a decent chance that he doesn't get paid beyond this deal on the next level?

I know I'm looking at this with a bias and assuming the worst but everyone is making the case about "getting paid now". My case is the same but I'm just factoring in an insurance policy and getting the most that he can now...errr....next year.

Gone. Doesn't have much tred on his tires. Can be used in the slot and the return game. RB's tend to make $ on the 2nd contract anyways.

I'd say he's gone.

With RBs these days, it's more about whether you project as making a roster as opposed to if and where you are drafted. He's 100% making an NFL roster barring any injury or off the field issue.

Exactly. Her son is miserable, and she's speaking out. And if you can't tell he's miserable just watch him on the sidelines and listen to his interviews recently. He's not the same enthusiastic kid he was when he got here. Guys like him and Tracy are miserable and have been pounded into submission by El Foldo.
This is a trend under Golden. Kids come in, talk about bringing Miami back play well their freshman year then come their sophmore and junior years and they regress and lose the excitement and joy they once had. We've seen it in happen to kids in every single one of Golden's recruiting classes.

You can throw Stacey Coley, Burns, Jenkins, McCord in there as well. All came in wide eyed and ready to play, and Golden beat them down to the point where they've essentially thrown in the towel. **** shame.

I'm normally not a cane slurper when it comes to the draft. But I truly believe Duke will be a really good pro . A Sproiles like career, maybe better. There's some fans here who take him for granted, don't see his greatness because of team w's/ l's.

Injuries is all that can hold him back , and only question anybody should have about him. Dukes football talent is top shelf.

He's gonna beast the league.

I think Duke is going to be a good pro because his vision is crazy. Also he doesn't have the same mileage the others guys have. Year of the Running Back.

Whether he stays or goes, aside... what has happened with Duke since joining this program is nothing short of a tragedy. When this kid first hit the scene he was a dynamic, Heisman caliber talent. With every passing moment here, he has seemed to regress more and more. Darn shame.

I've said it before, he is wasted on this team. Anyone that doesn't think he'd be averaging 200 yards a game at a program like Bama or FSU needs their head checked.

Lol what in the world makes you think he's regressed?

He don't pop them long runs no more cause he is playing at FB weight. Always getting tripped up by shoelace tackles right before he's about to burst.

It's depressing. I can't imagine how it feels for him.

Duke is so big because the clowns running the show couldn't recruit another RB to save their lives.

There is nothing wrong with Duke. Kid is still as good as ever, maybe better.

He's averaging the same (actually slightly more), yards per touch then he did as a FR. This is also in a larger role.

He plays on a team with a mediocre line and whose offense hardly possess the ball.

Program sucks but there isn't anything wrong or different with Duke.

*********.

Go check the stats. Duke don't break them long ones like he used to.

He had a 55yarder vs FAMU and a 33yarder vs Arkyst. Nothing else over 24yds the rest of the season.

And technically he is averaging a half a yard less per carry (obviously not the same as touches) than for his career.

But I'll let you tell your bedtime stories.

I gave you the stats. He's at the exact same per touch as a FR. He's a lower in YPC, but higher in YPR.

There are a lot of factors in YPC, work load is a big one. Perfect example is Clinton Portis.

In part time duty in 99, 00 he average 5.9 and 6.3 ypc. In 01, when he carried the load he averaged 5.5 ypc. Was Portis also less explosive and worse as JR?

Duke in a part time role as a FR average 6.9 ypc. As a So and Jr, carrying the load he is at 6.3 ypc.

Duke is on pace for the 3rd best yards from scrimmage season in Canes history. Behind McGahee in 2002, Edge in 1997.
He's on pace for the 5th best rushing season in Canes history. McGahee in 2002, Edge in 1997, Miller in 2011, Anderson in 1978. McGahee was the only one of those to average over 6 ypc, at 6.2 ypc.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Duke Johnson.
