Is anyone concerned about DE group going foward?

He might start there. Then year two slides inside.
I thought that might be the case until I saw he was playing this year in high school at 285. I don't think. He's going to be lining up at DE often if he’s really gotten that big.

There is a lack of experience at DE but this is a position they have recruited well. It’s not like corner or linebacker where we’re hoping lower rated guys come through for us. The depth chart at end is full of big time prospects. We’ve always gotten production from the position too so I’m not concerned. This is how the entire roster should be at a real program. Replacing 4 and 5 star guys with more 4 and 5 star guys. Depending on how the NCAA wants to handle initial counters next season, I could see taking a transfer end (we should be appealing to any interested parties) but there’s more glaring needs if we only have the three counters left.

He’s more 265-270. That whole 290 Jazz is bs, I said it was bs when it was mentioned in an interview.

What does relying on the portal year after year tell us about recruiting + development?
It means there are roster holes that need to be filled and we don’t have upperclassmen to fill them. There’s only three guys on the staff who have been here more than two years so it’s hard to get on them too much for previous coaches’ recruiting short comings. Now, one of those guys who has been here is Rumph but I’m not turning this into another one of those threads.

I think Harvey and Chantz have more upside based off of pure athleticism. I think Cam is ok but I’m still surprised he’s only 235 at 6’6. He needs to hit the weights. Maybe start Leonard at SDE next year.

SDE Leonard Taylor
DT Nesta
DT Harrison Hunte
WDE Harvey or Chantz

As much as we all love LT. we are in trouble if he is starting at DE next season

I feel Like the guy who’s impressed me the most behind Philips, roche is probably cam Williams.

not sure what to make of harvey yet (not going to lie kind of have been disappointed) and I’ve wanted to see chantz Williams play more this year but he played sparingly in games .

And i think we signed an okay de class in 2021 cycle but I’m interested to see how this ultimately play out next year with Phillips and roche gone
Relax. Let the young guys grow with reps.

He’s an elite talent. Top 3 in the country. Joe jackson started as a true freshman at end and ended up with 8.5 sacks
Jackson started because of the unexpected suspension Al Quadin. i am all for LT getting reps but if he is starting as DE we are in trouble

Shaq, Pinckney, Jaquan and Redwine showed us that if you want a top ten defense, focus on the middle of the defense. If you want flash, but give give up 62 points and 600+ rushing yards and NCAA records on your home field on Senior Day, you focus on getting flashy DEs from the portal who are first round draft picks. Disgraceful

And the defensive scheme and coaching is horrible. Even D’No would laugh at the Canes defense against UNC, because his defenses never set any NCAA records

I read the same nonsense when quitter15 opted out. Plug and play fellas. Someone should step up.

Our DE our talented they just need size at this point so they don’t get pushed around by college tackles

Harvey, Cam and Chantz should be ready to make an impact. Are any of them Phillips, probably not but I could see Harvey having JJack type output

I'm not worried. We have recruited the position well and you'll have third year players stepping into expanded roles, but adding one portal edge player and letting the Harvey, Cam, Chantz group sink or swim is a nice place to be, tbh.

If Miami swung and missed on all these edge player they've recruited in the past three years, idk what to say about that. Would be rather ridiculous.

Its a lot of unknown. Someone will have to take the next step and take the position. I thought Cam looked really impressive at the beginning of the year and then he kinda disappeared. I agree on Harvey. After the little we have seen from those two its a mystery.

Completely Agree , was going to add that about cam but I’m 100% with that sentiment as well

Miami sucks at preparing underclassmen to take over. They get minimal game reps all season and then are pushed into huge roles they have no true game experience with. This roster management along with players leaving early is killing things
I understand your concern but Miami (under Diaz) has always rotated a **** ton of guys on defense. There are bodies and talent there its their time to step up

Yeah I'm worried, about the pass rush, but even more on how they're going to do against the run. This system is friendly to pass rushers and a HUGE problem for run defense. If we end up with less than ideal players there we could be in trouble, we had 2 pros playing there this year and our defense was a problem at times

How ******* bad is Diaz's system? With 2 pro DEs UNC ran all over us and we may have 3 NFL guys if Silvera can step up next season.

Agreed and part of that reason is we rarely have blowouts where guys can come in mid to late third quarter. We have no clue about the QB room if King leaves.
