Blissett has to move I’ve to DE fulltime. What concerns me most is that our DEs are light as ****. Average of 6’4 240 is not good.
I think rotation was less frequent because we had a first rounder in Phillips and a mid rounder in Roche out there. I agree I would've liked to see a little more rotation either way though.I'm absolutely concerned. The DEs have talent but they are all on the smaller side (all less than 250) and haven't shown they were ready to take that next step just yet in their limited snaps this year. I was expecting a heavier DE rotation as we saw in previous years and when that didn't materialize, to me it signaled the backups weren't quite ready to take those minutes. Maybe i'm wrong.....just how it looked after seeing trends with this staff before.
Harvey is the guy who showed me the most throughout the year. He had some mistakes but he also flashed a few times.
I would personally kick Blissett back outside and see what he does in the spring with reps. He has struggled to keep on weight but was extremely athletic coming in. It makes no sense to have 260-265 pound DTs on anything but rush subpackages and we could use to size/strength outside against run teams like UNC.
That’s why I’m wondering wtf.he actually ran a 4.56 at one point and the roster has him at 255
Agreed. People are overreacting because the DE group is young, but most if not all of these guys were highly recruited out of high school and have plenty of talent. Is there a Rosseau or a Phillips in this group? No, but 1st rounders don't grow on trees for us anymore. But this DE group has depth and versatility. Just need a couple of guys to emerge as the clear favorites to start. Hopefully Cam Williams and Harvey have a big statement to make against Ok State.
I'm more concerned about CB and LB.
I assume the order of worry is this:
1. CB
2. CB
3. DE
4. LB
5. Another CB?
Not a D1? Lol@brock
You touched a little on it, but I'm scared Chantz is not a D1 athlete. He's not carrying his weight all that well.
Rooting for the guy to prove me wrong.

With the No. 1 DE transfer, and former No. 1 HS recruit in the nation coming in the fill his spot. And our defense got gashed this year, to boot.I remember when we had the same concern when Rousseau opted out.
I'd have to go back and look at the snap counts, but it definitely felt like we rotated our DE's more earlier on in the season than we did in the back half of the schedule. Seems like it happened around when Phillips hit his stridePhillips didn't start the season playing like that - he improved as it's gone on.
Plus with an uptempo offense this season, the defense was on the field for 72 plays a game. That's a lot to ask of any player. Only 39 teams averaged more yards/game on defense.
Was he? I have been driving the JHH bus since game 1, but his talent is getting upfield and disrupting.harrison-hunte was a huge loss during the UNC game. he has flashed this year and he has been out with COVID/elbow injury.
I disagree. His strength right now is rushing the passer rather than stop the runharrison-hunte was a huge loss during the UNC game. he has flashed this year and he has been out with COVID/elbow injury.
He might start there. Then year two slides inside.LT is not a d end. stop even thinking he might be. not a chance he sees a down at d end. clueless.
