Is anyone concerned about DE group going foward?

Which one of Cam's 3 tackles this year impressed you more than Harvey?

I think Harvey takes a big leap this off season. You can't hold a guy down with that athletic profile for too long. He was just extremely thin and light in the ***. I think Cam and Chantz will make a solid 2nd string to Harvey and a portal guy.

The other name to watch out for is Blissett. I heard he wasn't holding extra weight as well as anticipated and is going to play DE going forward and he's adjusting very well there - they moved Q to DT instead.

There's also some versatility to be able to play Leonard Taylor and Elijah Roberts if needed due to their frames filling out but still having a great athletic profile.

Not too worried because i think we easily pull a guy like Jermaine Johnson who was one of the better pass rushers in the SEC in limited snaps this year. If we strike out in the portal... I'll be pretty concerned just because of a lack of productivity returning.

They had blissett at DT and he was only 260. Unless they move him again he will be at DT

That’s what I just alluded to. He’s supposedly moving to DE because he couldn’t really get above 270 and not look like he was laboring to carry the weight.

He started to cut a little bit and get more agile to play DE around the same time Quentin Williams made it known he was moving to DT. They just switched them

Oh ok I got you

Cross train Robert and someone else at end so that even tho the pass rush may not be quite as sick we will atleast contain an edge and play the run well. Considering our struggle this year we should maybe think about playing some stronger ends on first and second

I've been bothered all year by the lack of playing time for the backups. It was so little I often wondered if we even had any. I don't recall ever, in my nearly 40 years of watching UM football, seeing so little of the backup DEs. We rotated DTs, but man it was rare to see backup DEs getting any meaningful reps. It's a huge concern, seeing as how our LB situation is so dire.

I'm absolutely concerned. The DEs have talent but they are all on the smaller side (all less than 250) and haven't shown they were ready to take that next step just yet in their limited snaps this year. I was expecting a heavier DE rotation as we saw in previous years and when that didn't materialize, to me it signaled the backups weren't quite ready to take those minutes. Maybe i'm wrong.....just how it looked after seeing trends with this staff before.

Harvey is the guy who showed me the most throughout the year. He had some mistakes but he also flashed a few times.

I would personally kick Blissett back outside and see what he does in the spring with reps. He has struggled to keep on weight but was extremely athletic coming in. It makes no sense to have 260-265 pound DTs on anything but rush subpackages and we could use to size/strength outside against run teams like UNC.

kranger quickly becoming a clueless poster. blissett isn't a d end.

and chantz Williams not a 1A athlete?

Harvey has impressed in the limited snaps. stop.

Definitely worried about depth at that position. But if we’re being honest I’m worried about production on every level on the defense. Linebackers have not been good. CBs have not been good outside of couch. And safeties have not been good outside a couple game stretch from bolden

No transfer portal DL are necessary imo.

I'll tell you what I'd do man:

DE: Harvey, Cam, Blissett, Joyner, Chantz, Q. Williams, Ishmael

DT: Silvera, Taylor, Roberts, Ford, Miller, Holley, Haye
Agreed. People are overreacting because the DE group is young, but most if not all of these guys were highly recruited out of high school and have plenty of talent. Is there a Rosseau or a Phillips in this group? No, but 1st rounders don't grow on trees for us anymore. But this DE group has depth and versatility. Just need a couple of guys to emerge as the clear favorites to start. Hopefully Cam Williams and Harvey have a big statement to make against Ok State.

I'm more concerned about CB and LB.
