IMO The Offense Issues Beyond OL

The problem with the offense is very simple. UM needs to recruit better athletes. Let's talk about the vertical routes everyone is complaining about. These are the same routes that Art Briles made famous at Baylor. The difference is that Baylor had 4.3 forty athletes running those routes.

UM's 4 wideout package consists of Lewis, Njoku, Coley and Richardson or Beerios, Coley, Lewis and Richardson. If UM had Mullens, Richardson, Coley and Sam Bruce running those routes the outcome would be totally different because all those players can flat out fly. The problem is that no one fears our wideouts. It is very easy for a defense to shadow Coley and Richardson because they know Lewis and Berrios pose little to no threat.

It is no secret that we only target two receivers. Replace Berrios and Lewis with Sam Bruce and Mullins and defenses are forced to defend them because on those vertical routes Bruce and Mullins would get over the top of the defense.

I agree .than the issue would be could Kaaya find the mismatch . Mullins , Richards ,Harley one speedy wr I believe we would have people open especially some body like henderson

Pitt averages 40 ppg vs Power 5 opponents
Miami averages 28 ppg vs Power 5 opponents.

Pitt doesn't have a weapon on the outside close to Coley, Richards, Njoku and their QB is a Tennessee reject.

I actually think Peterman's pretty good. He put up nice numbers last year before Canada got there.

He should play on Sundays.

My take on Richt is that he's an average OC. Sure I'd love an elite OC, but it is what it is. None of the top teams really have explosive offenses with a mediocre pocket passer anyway.

Kaaya had a better passer rating his FR and SO year then Peterman had as a JR.

But now Peterman is pretty good and Kaaya is a mediocre pocket passer. Gotcha

I say he's pretty good. You say he's a reject.

I guess we'll see. I think he'll get drafted.

I said a Tennessee reject which is a fact bc he couldn't start there

**** happens. He's a better QB than Dobbs.

Take a look at what Pitt does. They confuse the **** out of defenses with all their movement and deception. They've taken crappy overall offensive talent and fashioned a dynamic offense with it. Plug our dudes into that offense, and they'd look like world beaters.

Remind me what the Canes score was against Pitt?

Dumb guy talk. If you're too dumb to see the flaws in your infantile stab at logic, then you're too hopeless for me to bother with.

wait till the maple leaf grabs Manny Diaz and his gang of rejects, someones putting up a 50 spot in that game...oops

Now this is an excellent point. From what I can glean from this word garble, this scholar is telling us that because we put up 50 on Pitt that Pitt's offense isn't diverse, dynamic and very successful with average to poor talent.

He might also be attempting to claim that Diaz is saddled with rejects on his side of the ball. Good work.

He is now in a great system, which proves my original point. You guys think that players are either great or terrible all on their own and that scheme and development has nothing to do with it.

We need to hire a OC or offensive consultant that can add diversity to the offense and increase the pace.

If Richt insists on calling plays.... whatever, but it is concerning that the number 2 and 3 guys on our offensive staff are guys that would not be able to get the same position anywhere else in the country.

If Miami's broken the bank when it comes to football, settling for Jon Richt and Thomas Brown is a slap in the face to our program and where we want to be.

I've said it in another thread, If Miami ran that Offense we would be competing for a National Title in NO time. With the athletes and speed in South Florida, that Offense would give opponents nightmares.

Crossing routes, pace, deep routes other than fly patterns require a cohesive offensive unit and when you have to resort to ball out of QB's hands in 1-1.5 seconds you can't do any of it. Most of you talk in a vacuum devoid of realism.

I started a thread on Pitt's offense before we played them, but it got derailed because I got the OC's name wrong. So the thread turned into a gotcha moment for my stalkers instead of a discussion of Pitt's offense.

I really love that offense. It wreaks havoc on opposing defenses with the motion and deception. Canada's offense with the deception looks similar to what Paul Cryst does at Wisconsin. I don't know if there's any overlap between the two guys, but their misdirection game is very similar.

Having not followed the Canes near as long S most posters on here I just do not see all this speed advantage we have over other teams. Can assure you there are faster WR, RB , and DB, LB on several SEC teams than on the Canes. The problem is those are Sofla kids playing on schools other than the Canes. Looks like recruiting last 3-4 years missed on quite. Few guys that would make most any offense a **** of a lot better.

I think that's true dawgcane. I think what most people really mean is that if we hit on the guys we really should every year in recruiting, our speed would be superior to almost anyone.

But the sad reality is that we don't hit on anywhere near enough of those guys every year. I don't think our team is particularly fast right now, outside of maybe a couple guys.

Matt Canada has it going on.

There is no speed advantage.

A bunch of Miami fans still think we're somewhere between the years 1986 and 2006, and they're just regurgitating what use to be said about Miami.

Miami use to be faster than everyone else. But that was before everyone started to use supplements, and before national recruiting was a standard practice.

We also weren't decade, plus, away from our last 10+ win season, either.

I missed that thread. This is my frustration with our Offense. No one is ever in motion or moving. Our Offensive plays are too linear and predictable. With Pitt, you're lucky if you know who has the ball. They keep every Defense on their toes because you never know what they are doing next. I give our D a lot of credit for slowing that Offense down.
