I'm not aiming this post at anyone in particular, but it's amazing to me that anyone would think the tone of a college football message board -- especially ours considering its uniqueness as one of the most historic, controversial programs in the country -- would be anything less than relentlessly vitriolic after a coach is retained for going 6-7 in his fourth year with that much NFL talent and a True Freshman All-American at QB.

This isn't an example of Miami diehards being bigger ******** than fans of every other program. Any fan base going through even remotely similar circumstances would be just as openly outraged. It's all sunshine and happiness at boards for programs like Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, and USC right now because they're all expected to contend for the championship. Not a pathetic Coastal title, an actual NCAA Championship. Even Michigan fans, after all they've had to deal with lately, are fired up because they went out and replaced an incompetent buffoon with Jim f'ing Harbaugh.

Miami's administration created this entire situation with their inaction, apathy, and incompetence. They signed up for this by bringing Golden back. This board will look entirely different three months from now if we either shockingly win 10+ games and have an amazing season (never happening) or if Golden is finally fired.

If Golden is retained for winning 8-9 games (unrealistic, but not impossible with this schedule) and failing to beat FSU, win the ACC, or accomplish anything meaningful...well, things are only going to get worse.

This is a 10+ win season. With the talent we have on this roster anything less is an abject failure, and would require serious changes.

Just curious, if you are so upbeat and positive about how great this year is going to be, why place such a safe bet as over or under. That’s betting on your team to be just a tad above mediocre, not showing much faith at all. One would think if you had that much confidence and wanted to put your money where you mouth is, you would bet the canes will win 10 or more games this season. Otherwise, it is just another distraction and smoke screen. I would take that bet even though I have different opinions on how this team is being ran, but as a real fan I will never bet against the canes. I think the others that disagree with you and the program may feel the same way about betting against their team. So your point of being scared or not taking your bet is absurd.

I have no idea what the over/under is. I actually believe/hope that we will be 13-1 this year.

My point was, that one poster picked out a number of posts I made out of thousands, and attempted to belittle me.

He does this only out of spite. No other reason, and I made a legitimate wage with him. He thinks we will be crap this year and I don't think so.

I can never bet preseason that we will run the table. It's happened 5 times in 3 decades for us. I'm an optimist, but I'm also a realist.

Flying a banner. When you did it last year, do you think it was highly respected nationally? When you did it for Butch do you think people around the country thought,

I've never went more than a couple of days without checking out the site since I joined. Over the course of a year the site has been steadily getting worse. Opinions on how to make this program better is one thing but the rhetoric and bashing you have to endure on just about every post is another. I will not post here again unless there is a dramatic tone change on this FAN site. I know there are a number of fans on this site that feel the same way as I do... but its the few that makes the most noise and set the tone of the site. Pardon the drama of an announcement... but my purpose is to let those that share my same convictions, know that I will still check and respond to the direct messages.

Pops if we START OUT 3-0 you'll see a big change...we were much more positive 2 -3 years ago...You should've seen this board when Golden was hired.Felt like we have been sprayed with the ghost buster slime how positive this board was.... Realize this is therapy for us... we love these canes but can only be positive for so long.....I understand your plight..but trust me youll be back after our first win....If we beat Nebraska oh boy...youll be back and it will be great here( for 1 week)... but until then do what you gotta do

That's why I love the fact that these same "closet racists" have ruined this site because their white leader can't coach. Even though temple posters said the very same and a black columnist. Mr. Whitlock said he was terrible and didn't deserve this job.

Huh? There is more hate toward Golden right now then there ever was against Shannon. People wanted Shannon out because he sucked, people want Golden out because he sucks even more. What does it have to do with race?

Well, I guess that is your opinion and after reading all the prior post, it seems like you were not correct on a lot of your opinions and predictions. I see a lot of true fans on this board, some with and overly objective view, some wishing for a glimmer of hope and others that are worn out and tired of making excuses. Them being realist, and realizing that unless major changes are made, nothing is going to improve. We have to agree to disagree on this real fan or no real fan point, got to get back to work.

I think things are etched in stone at that point. In this day and age, coaches have rebuilt moribund programs in far less time.

I think things are etched in stone at that point. In this day and age, coaches have rebuilt moribund programs in far less time.

History overwhelmingly supports his impending failure. But too many people rely on faith, luck, gut feelings, that somehow things will be different.
