You nailed it. This too is why this season is a no lose for me as well. We look good, then GREAT. If the D stinks again, there will be changes. Up until now there have been legitimate reasons why the D was bad. This year, outside of LB depth, there are none. Much deeper D-line. Much deeper, and experienced secondary. One of the top LBs in the country, and vastly experienced, Perriman. There just is no good reason not to produce a good D this year. I've been patient, but that patience ends this year. I'm not saying we need to win 11 games... Just show signs of improvement. REAL signs of improvement. Do that and I'm happy, and so is the administration.

The reason people can even view this as a negative is because the hype and PR has yet to produce anything of real substance on the field. When it does, this will be viewed differently.

At this point, all that matters: win or GTFO. No amount of psychology and tactics will matter unless we get Ws in games most/many will understand are likely Ls.

Unfortunately this was also the logic for some last year. I tend to agree with you if we're horrid on D, but last year's experience has taught me that defensive "production" is quite relative. If we see a defense ranked in the 50s-60s (which would not look good in real time, btw), this is an upward trend and may be seen as enough "production" to maintain status quo. We will see and hopefully it becomes a moot point.

So? Why was it ever done at all? This same corching staff has done nothing but btich and moan about the detriments of their situation. The Cloud, the lost bowl practices etc. This was an instance when they could have used that time productively but instead we had dodge ball and home run derby and water balloon fights and long drive contest and face painting and dunk tank.

Last year it was the same with the ******* music video BS wating time letting linemen attempt to field punts etc etc etc etc etc.

In all reality the reason ppl are mad is because Miami isn't winning. Ppl are getting bent out ta shape for this. Lots of teams do things to keep emotions up. Its like when Miami made their Harlem shake video ppl got all mad. Bama players did the same an no1 got mad. Whether this is the 01' Canes or this team players are allowed some sort of fun.
