No: as someone else mentioned he is a couple of plays away from being 1- 7 : this is a coach whose defense has regress over his term and that is his specialty:

He got save last year because of King ( playing out of his mind) and TVD this year: There is something inherit with Manny, that there is always something that needs fixing.

At the start of the season, I was told by a friend who is a big booster that Manny would survive this season unless he lost 7 or more games (I posted it here). I don't know if that has changed, but going 8-4 would "exceed" the BOT's expectations and would clearly show "improvement". It would also mean we have a six game regular season win streak at a time when our in-state rivals (UF and F$U) have worse records. I suspect that James would tell Manny he needed to add a real DC and have him go shopping on the portal............

That being said, my eyes tell me that we will not win out.

Manny was 100 % fired with a NCSU loss. That’s why Blake suddenly left his basement to make media rounds. That would’ve put him at 2-5 , 0-3 in conference and four game losing streak. He’d been eliminated from everything at that point. He needs a miracle run to change that.

People that matter want big changes with how football is ran. Keeping him and Blake would not be big change.

correct Manny's best defense was when he had Golden recruits : we still can't tackle, we still get a ton of penalties. middle of the field is always open, TE always opened, can't cover the flats, we get a TFL, next play there is a chunk play, bad alignment, and it seems our best players come from the portal on defense : Defense is Manny's calling card .

UVA game might be the nail in the coffin, it was just an awful loss.
It was possible to rationalize Bama, Mich ST (team better than expected) and UNC on the road with TVD second start, but UVA was just brutal and probably will keep us from the ACCCG.

On top of that our recruiting class is a mess and the defense is a HUGE problem, so I think his position is unattainable, maybe an ACC championship saves him.

Regardless of Diaz, I hope we fire James and get a real AD, let him/her evaluate the whole program and make the necessary adjustments, maybe keep Diaz if he wins out as a buffer so the AD can settle in

To be fair if he wins out then we've got the 2023 #1 overall pick on our roster because TVD would have to play out of his mind to carry this defence for 3 months.

I don't know about the #1 pick but I don't see anyone beating up this year. JMO I see us rolling the last 4 teams and hopefully the pieces fall together where we can make the ACC Championship game

Yeah, if Borregales hits it 6 inches to the right, the Canes are alone in first in the Coastal, 1 game ahead of Pitt and GT and could basically wrap it up by beating GT this weekend. Should never have to rely on such plays, but just an observation. It is a game of inches as they say.

If by some reason he does win the Coastal or even the ACC it just shows how inept he really is because if this team is talented enough to win the ACC then we should be in the playoff picture, not sitting on 4 losses half way through the season. Manny already ****ed up this season to the point that backing our way into an ACC title is even a disappointment.
