If firing assistants gets you excited...

It’s just the best we could hope for at the moment. Either the team will improve or hopefully we get the real changes that we need next year. But we needed something to look forward to..

OP could be right but at the same time wrong. It shows Manny knows he has to change things if Al Golden brought in a good DC his teams could’ve been great and the opposite goes for Richt but they never did as we know and now we are here

My god...everyone here is so smart. This board is filled with elite AD and HC candidates.
So times it doesn't work out when you fire assistants and some times it does. If they make the correct hires then things work out.

Can we just wait and see what happens?! @dsddcane hinted at 3 moves....1st domino is down. Let's see what happens and who gets hired. Everyone would have the entire program fired and rehired after every season.
Kudos to you for wallowing in the muck of this crappy thread. OP loves hot dogs...

Sure but this is good for a few reasons
1. Hopeful improvements
2. Get out of jail free card is burned

Agreed. This is the one and only do-over he gets. This team could be quite different with a stud OC and actual scoring of points

All good coaches have to trim the staff at some point. Bad ones do it too. Beats doing nothing though

He hired Canada from Pitt and fired him the next year. Nice try
Don't let facts get in the way of these poster's spin shows. They also continually post about how coach O is a genius for the offensive changes he made prior to this year before conveniently forgetting he tried to out smash mouth Alabama without success for 3 years.

Manny is damned if he fires guys, he's damned if he doesn't. And this isn't a post supporting him, what else was he supposed to do, let Enos come back next year? Manny will be gone soon enough if things don't improve.

you are a sucker.

Randy fired his buddy and DC Walton after his first year. Nix after year two.

Coker fired the entire staff sans Randy after LSU.

Firing coaches is not a signal of a good coach. In fact when the coaches are all your guys you brought in, the need to fire them is a sign of desperation and incompetence. You dont get credit for cleaning up the **** you took on the carpet.

News flash; it's better than NOT firing said coaches.

You're also talking about guys who were fired multiple years into their tenures, versus Diaz at least firing Enos—Miami's highest-paid and on paper, highest-qualified offensive coordinator in forever—after ONE season.

Many here expected Enos to at least get year two to see if he could turn it around. The fact he didn't at least gives a modicum of hope for 2020—opposed to the pure despair had he been retained.

So yeah, nobody is "excited" about any of this—as the 15-year drought continues—but today would be a lot worse of a day if Dan Enos was retained for another year.

Carry on.

I mean guys were on here raving about Les Miles firing his OC mid season. Yep, it's better than having Enos back. And Manny won't get another chance if there is another disaster of a season.

Exactly.

Gotta love the revisionist history on a 58-year old Orgeron who failed at Ole Miss, wasn't retained at Southern Cal (after taking over in an interim role), kicked around as an assistant for a few years, before going full-time at LSU and turning a corner year three—with a Heisman-winning quarterback.

Great, the guy learned from his mistakes after his third stop as a head coach—and making some big mistakes as an assistant and a man (re: fall down drunk as a Miami assistant in 1992)—finding himself back on top almost three decades later.

Forget the fact he's at a football factory that will not just bend rules, but will break them—with unlimited financing and boosters who will write seven-figure checks—again, he arguably has the best quarterback in the sport (as does Clemson; while OU and Ohio State also has Heisman-contending quarterbacks.)

Let's see where Orgeron and LSU are next year without Burrow. Still a recruiting juggernaut, they will still take a step back if they don't have a next-level guy under center.

Everyone's other slurpfest around here, Mike Leach—11-2 last year with transfer Gardner Minshew—and now 6-6 this season without him; hardly looking like an offensive genius at all.

There's more to the story than just "MANNY NEEDS TO MAKE MORE CHANGES LIKE ED O DOES!!!"—the mental midget, oversimplification of everything around here a complete joke.

FSU set a precedent with firing Willie Lump-Lump late in his second season.

If Manny is in disaster-mode next year like he is in 2020, he won't be back in 2021.

The timetable has moved in this big money sport and the days of arbitrarily giving guys five years to put their fingerprints on a program—long gone—as proven by the Enos experiment lasting less than a year, as well. Dude didn't even make a full calendar year at Miami.

If Al Golden had done so on the defensive side of the ball he probably would still have his job. That is if he didn't jump ship.

We’re not excited for coaches getting fired for the sake of them getting fired. We all know Manny is on the hot seat.. next season, if he hires a new staff and fails next season then he’s out. If by some miracle he succeeds next season then it’ll be similar to the situation with Ed orgeron. I personally think he’ll be gone next season but either way It’s a win win.

lmao. well dabo Swinney fired h is oc after bad yr hasn't won less then 10 since. oregeron realized made bad hire at oc with Canada made change are in cfp this year. so changing coaches works. fact is changing coaches works. coker fired guys due to mutiny on staff. but should never off been hc to start with. players screwed pooch getting him hired as hc. Fact is that is when downfall started it was a slow leak that took yrs to show up but that was the day Miami football started down road to mediocre.

Your right it doesn't mean that this will fix anything but what else do you want him to do? Ill tell you someone who fired a coach after 1 year and it worked out well Eddie O.

And no im not comparing Diaz to him
i want him to resign or be fired.

you morons have had five bad coaches in a row and you STILL cant figure it out, can you?
