Hmmm, believe Kuceyeski is an example of an analyst or support staff as previously suggested, so augments the staff. Offensive quality control title at Washington State & senior staff analyst at Oklahoma. It’s not uncommon for programs to use support staff or analyst to train QBs. Not sure about Miami, though assume Dawson has someone assisting him.
I will let Mario figure it out. Last two have been really good.Look at his stats at the highest level of GA football:

Go get the OT from Colorado and solidify the OL. Our run game will be elite. Plenty of good WRs. All we need Nickel to do is manage the game and not ***** it up. No one is asking him to be Cam.
Just remember every good college QB had to start once upon a time with zero experience. The sky isn’t falling.
Sorry if you’re having another bad day. Believe the original point was no one had a coach solely training QBs other than as support staff, analyst or GA designation. Yes, there are multiple coaches in a similar support or analyst role as Kuceyeski. They, too, are recognized as QB coaches & some are more widely respected than others. Believe Miami has had folks in a similar QB role, though perhaps not as accomplished as Kuceyeski. Again, you would be the ultimate source on whether that is accurate.Goddammit, genius, I already said NOT AT THE GA-LEVEL. If you can't figure it out, blame your own ******* self.
Paid more than a GA. Treated better than a GA. Perfect for a higher-level COACH who doesn't care for recruiting.
But, yeah, you're focused on job titles and HR manuals.
Kuceyeski was widely viewed as the QB coach and worked exclusively with the QB, regardless of what the business cards say.
I’ll tell you why we’re concerned, he throws a ton of interceptions in practice. I would say that’s pretty concerning wouldn’t you?
It's always been Judd. Tom Brady 2.0. Just a guess, could be wrongName a pastime more fun than TOC knowing information, withholding it, but then telling people their guesses are wrong.

I’m pretty close to a couple kids that are D1 recruits, one on enrolled now . The stuff they tell me about their offenses and qb blows my mind . They’ve been a multiple HS’s and at all the schools the qb’s don’t understand coverage or reading a defense . It’s all predetermined garbage. They’re basically a ten year old playing madden lol.
Emery sucks, Nickel is actually much better than him.if emory played the past year even half as bad as nickel has, half of CIS would storm the IPF and burn it down like it was the final reel of The Raven
Thanks for teaching me what teams have. There's something called a QB coach who works SOLELY with the QBs in his room. In our instance that position is also held by the offensive coordinator. As you can imagine, delegating time and snaps might be difficult for third string QBs with a QB coach who is also the man in charge of our game plan for each week. When Mario was first hired we had a QB coach. He was in the first round of people who went elsewhere even though I personally believe he wasn't an issue. No staff has a full time assistant solely training QBs. That why teams have a bevy of GAs, analyst & support staff.
He seems to be alone in that thoughtOne former player on TOS who does attend full practices frequently stated that Nickel plays really well when he runs with the 1's. Said he would have no problem with Nickel taking over.
They need to recruit better HS players. It saying break the bank but better caliber for sure. Maybe that’s next on Mario’s punch list. Then why recruit QBs out of high school at all, if all we are ever going to play is experienced QBs? At some point you need to play your recruited QBs, or they will stop coming here. "Why would I go to Miami just to sit behind a transfer?" It's going to be a problem. Every other position sees freshmen seeing the field. Miami? You need to be a 5th year senior to be a QB here. It's not sustainable.

We don't need rules to change to have development at the position. We need someone focused on that time with those players and nothing else. While obviously there is some teams (contenders or not) that go the portal route, there is obviously others that don't. Additionally some of them that do the portal route(like OSU, like oregon, like Oklahoma, etc)they're stacking QBs long term. They aren't chasing after a new one each and every season and dependant on that QB signing for the next seasons success. That isn't sustainable. It's not a discussion point. It's reality. Luckily back channels exist. Most of these discussions go on far before a window opens. The one thing that can't be accounted for however is who else is having those same conversations with those same players and how quickly the script can flip... I know of two QBs so far that we had agreements with. How'd that work out. As we've tried to tell y'all for years now this portal **** really is the wild west. Things change from one second to the next. Something as quick as a phone call flips the entire script. It's impossible to predict that. The rules on the time with coaches won’t change, which is why you see a majority of contenders go to portal QB.
That’s life in the big city.

Honestly the most important "training" imo is like learning defenses and the Why.We don't need rules to change to have development at the position. Dude said there were no full time assistants coaching qbs. I posted this list and the link earlier in the thread which is from 2024. The list dealt with the highest paid qb coaches, some were OCs, but these are non coordinators coaching qbs.Hilarious. You're going to try to give me **** ("having another bad day") even though I'm saying, essentially, what one of our former football players is also saying.
Good luck with that.
The point is simple. I want someone with experience (not a GA) who will be able to spend multiple years at UM working with multiple QBs. It's not that complicated. Even head coaches who try to work with QBs are hard-pressed to give it the time required. I understand trying to combine job titles for payroll reasons or even NCAA limitations on coaches who can also do recruiting, but we need someone who can devote the time needed to this critical position, without having to divide his time between being OC or HC.
The rest of this "job title" bull**** is just a distraction. GA-level guys can work well at a number of other positions, but QB coaching requires something more precise, and someone with a bit more experience.
We should have some extra money in the budget.Than you need a QB coach who's devoted to developing his entire room because that's his sole job opposed to an oc who only has the time or attention span to work with his starter... I'm not worried about nickel or anyone else we give the job to because we'll limit his risk. We need to prove we can develop our own QBs otherwise every year this is where we'll be come December/January. It's stupid as **** that were worried about this several days away from playing for a national championship. It's a failure by the ncaa and it's a failure by our staff for not getting enough reps for development.
Apparently at the very least Ohio State, oregon,Washington state & bama do without putting too much thought into this. It's naive to think QBs don't get developed without substantial playing time... This couldn't be a serious conversation. Has development seriously lacked throughout the country recently? No argument in that. Because clearly the portal is a viable option for places. Doesn't mean it should be the priority for everyone each and every season. If you're gonna do that then why waste a single resource on high school recruiting of the position because you don't have the ability to develop the position AND recruit a new starter year in and year out. Only way this is viable is if you take a multi year starter out of the portal. Otherwise your just hustling backwards.Fair enough.
Who’s developing guys without getting them substantial playing time?
