Idk why some of you are so concerned about Nickel as our starter

We have taken a QB every single year from HS and have 4 on the roster.

We (and 75%+ of the top programs) are no longer willing to invest millions in a HS QB so we (and many others) now take lower rated QBs with traits and try to hit the lottery.

We could be like USC and countless others that took a 5* QB out of HS and paid them big money only for them to sit for a year and transfer elsewhere.

You must be Forrest Gump to not understand this.
Are you challenging me to a footrace? ;)

I get all that, but we need to do a better job of identifying QB talent. Are there really no HS QBs out there that can sit and learn for 3 years and be serviceable in case the starter goes down?

I am not saying go get a 5 star, 2 million dollar HS QB. I'm saying go get a QB that can step up and at least be serviceable, and not make our O look retarded if our starter goes down.

Nickel is probably an awesome kid- nothing personal.

Take one look at him in pads on the miami sideline. To say he fails the eye test is an understatement.
Well ,thats subjective. What is objectively true is he was the only qb we recruited for 2 years. Coaches didnt think he failed the eye test then. Not saying i know he can play- i dont.

i wonder how much good grace mario will have after we win number 6
will it be enough to roll into south bend with emory as our starter?

Ok. You’re gonna see lil dude. And to be clear, it’s absolutely not what I want. Time is running out and there’s nobody else out there. This is our qb room

This is the dumbest ******* comment that gets repeated ad nauseum in here.

Point out the home grown QBs having success and then compare it to the playoffs the last two years.

Show me those results or STFU.

I'll give you a hint: practically none of the top teams play their "home grown QB". You sound like you're ******* Dabo talking about the portal.
Right. Everyone is aware. But, it does pose a dilemma: if experience is the key component( and I get it) why bother recruiting, and paying, for HS qbs? Further, if you do get HS qbs, why bother developing them for another program when the hit the portal? But if you stay in portal mode, you will eventually miss out ( this year is a possibility) and be left standing when the music stops.

Again, what happens if your 6 million dollar QB gets hurt? You still recruit HS QBs, and do a better job of it than we have been doing.
Obviously recruit & try to develop, but how many programs have elite backups. And if you do, they eventually hit portal for playing time.

Don’t seem like dawson wants to recruit either. And the analyst thing been happening. Saban was stashing coaches as analyst

It's not about stashing coaches. It's about paying for someone with quality, tenure, and accomplishments, and not just assigning the job to "the GA who likes to coach QBs more than other positions".

Agree its not Emory.

Here is name to throw out there for fun- Dante Moore. Why would Oregon get Raoila ? Moore to NFL? Ok, why hasnt he declared?
Just my hunch and wild guess. I think they will get someone not even in the portal yet. Maybe osu back up, someone no one is talking about, maybe a starter at another school they tamper and convince. Or they just go with someone in house but i can guarantee Miami will be fine wither way. They're winning on monday so none if it really matters
