ICE Announcement - Potential Impact on Louis Hedley?

Saw this posted on Reddit and didn’t even think of it until then. ICE announced that if classes are online in the fall, foreign students must return home.

I know UM has announced the campus will reopen in the fall. However, given the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, if UM cancels classes in-person classes in the fall, does that mean that Hedley would have to leave the country?

ICE Article
I believe his participation in NCAA athletics waives the requirement.

Fox news division never actually stroked Trump as much as you think. They were and are establishment Republicans. Prime time "Talk show" like Hannity clearly are Trump cheerleaders and some of Fox Business, like Dobbs, love him also EXCEPT his trade moves and especially tariffs - Except Charles, he did his own research and became believer of Trump's tariffs early on.

The establishment Republicans did want Trump and only put up with him to get Federal judge appointments. They have those now for the most part and they really don't want him to appoint another Supreme that might undo the wolf Bush put in a Chief Justice. They do not want to end abortion, stop illegal immigration or ***** with old man Bush's New World Order in any way.

Truth is I am not big consumer of news. Not much happens that surprises me, so an occasional look is enough. If you want to understand our media's slant you need only go back to WWll and move forward. They were all in on WWll once Hitler invaded the USSR. After that war, suddenly Hollywood and the media could not find a war we got into that they liked. Could that be the they were against the agents their motherland the USSR? For a few months after 911 they had to shut up but the old "any enemy of America is a friend of mine" came back soon enough.

Hey, I've turned to being against any war not declared by Congress and fought like WWll -- you are our enemy and killing you is the objective. That doesn't mean we can't bomb the living crap out of anyone needing it - I am a Constitutionalist not a pacifist -- no boots on the ground except by Act of Congress and with the mission to kill the enemy. Stop delegating the war power to UN of some bs coalition building. As you see, I do not fit in any party.

I do miss old Communist Ted Turner's CNN. At least they pretended to not be bias and accidentally did report some foreign news well. Sad that nobody even tries now.
Actually pretty accurate.☝️

Refreshing and so rare round here.

CNBC ripping this move on early morning squawk. POTUS trying to force schools to be open by threatenting to deport students who may not even be able to be deported because of travel restrictions.

Most people are stuck in the left vs right divide that is played by parties, media and establishment. Trump and Bernie, had he really ever wanted to be president, are much more up and down -- populist if you want a term. Bernie's populism has a ultimate object of typical all powerful overlord government with socialism as a method. Trump's is a little more of the founding ideas of limited government which have been eroded since, and perhaps because, of the Civil War. Keep in mind this is not Trump's movement. It was there waiting for a leader who believed in it. I was stunned to see it was Trump. I never thought much of the guy who seemed a NYC carpetbagger with a hit TV show I never watched, until I took the time to researched him after my wife decided to support him in 2015. I found all the crap he had been preaching since Reagan days and was surprised to agree with most.

We seem to have two rebellions going at once. Most of the Trump voters want to overthrow the existing establishment because it has grossly overstepped its place and has lead the road to globalism that is not at all American. 2016 was the result of that. The last four years has been the global establishment fighting back to retain power. So far this rebellion has been peaceful.

The left seems to want to overthrow the government and everything else. I am not sure why since they seem to control the government and the establishment as it is. I am guessing they are tired of waiting for whatever form of government the want to announce itself and want to hurry it along. Their rebellion seems to have hijacked this BLM movement as a trigger point and started the violent type rebellion. It remains to be seen if it burns out or blows up bigger.

That first rebellion, the 2016 election, seems to we sitting and watching but keep in mind it represents the most heavily armed people this side of the US military. I think Bill Maher said something the other day about violence coming after the November election regardless of who wins. He could have a good point. Let's pray not.

Am I on CIS??

I think I'm lost.

Um...learn civics.

So hiring friends and family, installing cia heads as secretary of state, threatening federal funding for individual states he has a grudge against, passing very little binding legislation and instead relying on presidential orders that are easily overthrown in court or by the next presis your idea of smaller governement? Or how about the largest annual deficit ever pre corona and adding 10 trillion to the debt.

What part is small besides his hands?

I don't even know where to start with this, however, how many examples of former POTUS administrations would you like me to cite that have done exactly what you describe above x10?

Its a long, long list so get comfy.

Again, learn civics and then come back and lets debate if the actual authorities should be authorities for any POTUS going forward.

Go Canes.

PS you mostly wrong and several of your points as well--like insanely misguided and misinformed.

There’s always a reason to be a ****. It‘s what I do.

No major school is going to “online only”.

At the very least there will be undergraduates and post graduates doing some limited class work, especially in the sciences and research. Universities are not to going to stop functioning, doing important scientific and medical research, and generating research grants from the government and private industry because of Covid.

Think it through, my man.

Looks like a number of schools planning to go fully remote - NYU, Columbia, etc. - are designing a plan to offer a in-person credit to international students to avoid the new rule.

Arizona is also doing the same to protect its basketball teams.

Not many former presidents have used their son in law or daughter to negotiate deals with foreign leaders. Feels pretty 3rd world to me

Simple question since youre trying to change the argument to some sort of lesser evil discussion. Do you believe the govt as a whole has gotten smaller under trump? You seem to have blurred the lines of trumps preaching of smaller govt and the actual reality.

The debt alone will be felt for decades.

Those professors need their Chinese Communist Party Stipends. Never can have too many members of the CCP or their Miltary taking classes. They are the largest group of foreign students.

Nope. We have smart people here, Some have different views for sure and some of those are "

He governs that way. Now his tweets and words may reflect desire to get crap done but actions so more than enough restraint if one releases they just don't want the same results he has promised. I am opposed to globalism and bigger government, therefore I liked very little about Obama's Presidency, of either of the Bush guys or Clinton. I am not sure what actions Trump has taken that are inconsistent with our founding ideas or ideals if you prefer. Remember, you disagreeing with them does not mean they are inconsistent with anything other than your views. Caution: "little more of" makes my statement very easy to defend.

Hey, with West in the game as 3rd party, this could be even more interesting than 2016. Probably best topic outside football right now. I like him on 2024 republican ticket on top or VP. I suspect he is aiming at 2024 and this will be his audition. Going to hard to go back to run of the mill idiots like we have been electing for decades.

Dan, the discussion was regarding Louis Hedley and UM....not what the Ivy League is doing. Did you hear they’re moving their football schedule to the spring as well?

So far, no major (P5) school has announced online only. If that happens across the board, the likelihood of a football season greatly diminishes.

Hope that helps.

Sorry if my pointing out how you were dead ******* wrong (again) touched a nerve. I'm a ****, it's what I do.

Anyone arguing that one party or the other promotes limited government is naive, ignorant, or stupid. Each party increases the size of govrnment in the areas in which they want government bigger. Republicans want less regulaitons so they reduce the size/power of the EPA and Sec of Interior, etc. But in turn they increase the size of the police, military and military contractors (beware the military industrial complex said Eisenhower) and promote government intrusion into what we do with and out into our bodies.
Dems want more social programs so when in power they increase regulatory oversight. It is a constant swing of the pendulum which never ends with limited or smaller government. Stop listening to talking points and pay attention to budgets and spending. Federal spending has not dropped with either party in power, and certainly not with this current person in charge.
