I love d$ but I hope he’s off the arch love fest after this…

There is more than just the last name, which is why the NFL is watching him so closely.

I thought he’d take a step as a college player this year, and he hasn’t. So I’ll raise my hand and take the L on that.

But I still think he’s a very talented prospect, and most of the backlash is based off people like Finebaum and not Arch’s actual skillset.

I’ve been searching for a comp, and he actually reminds me of Sam Darnold. Similar size, arm and athleticism. Arch is actually a better runner. It took a while for Darnold to find his footing but the payoff ended up strong.
When you opened up with how closely the NFL is watching, nothing else mattered.

You are wrong

You have been

But I get it, some pills are harder to swallow

Sarkisian is going to find himself calling games on TV or back in an OC role sooner than people think because, as a playcaller, he's been pure cheeks. I'm not saying Manning doesn't have his faults, but it's pretty clear that a lot of people here aren't watching the All-22. Manning has things he needs to improve, but let's talk about how uninspired this offense looks at every level.

Coleman and Wingo are basically Featherstone once they get more than 10 yards downfield. Emaree Winston is Featherstone from the line of scrimmage to 10 yards. The playcalling leaves a lot to be desired, with very little emphasis on short-to-intermediate routes. Too many plays take forever to develop, and the receivers aren't doing enough to help their quarterback when things break down. They need to recognize when to settle into a zone, find open space, and give Manning an outlet instead of mindlessly running their routes while he's under duress. The receivers look like they're going through the motions, and their blocking is some of the worst I've seen. The WR screens are especially bad. The blocking and overall setup are terrible, and receivers routinely catch the ball, turn upfield, and run straight into their own teammates because the play isn't properly executed.

I'm not sitting here claiming Manning is some elite quarterback who has no faults. He has plenty to clean up. But putting all the blame on him ignores the bigger problem. This offense is poorly executed, uninspired, and lacking creativity. The playcalling, route concepts, receiver awareness, and blocking are all contributing to the problem. Manning deserves his share of the criticism, but he's not the only problem, and the All-22 makes that pretty **** clear. This is a unit wide failure, from the coaching staff down to the players

You’ve totally lost your mind on this dude. Totally lost it! Sam Darnold was a **** good quarterback in college, what the **** are you talking about?! Smh

so he is Daniel Jones.

Might want to check that. Darnold threw a ton of picks at USC. And that trend continued at the Jets and got him benched.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember Donald leading USC to a Rose Bowl victory over Penn State. I think I remember that and I think I remember him throwing a lot of touchdowns in that game.

He threw 22 picks in 2 seasons. That is a lot in the college game. Certainly never sniffed a heisman or any QB awards with those numbers.

If you had to pick one QB to start on Saturday out of: Arch, Nico Lagway, Raiola (top-2 247 QBs from '23 and '24): who are we picking?

Which of those 4 is the best NFL prospect?

Why is Arch the answer to both questions? Maybe Lagway will wash enough of that Napier/gator stink off of him over time, but for this weekend, I'm taking Arch.

So, we're really just in our feels because the nerds at the ranking sites whiffed. Should be used to that.

I'm no expert, but I see the same things D$ sees (and, apparently, the same things "NFL people" see) - big, strong, fast, live arm. The two td passes in the first half were not routine throws and the two throws on the drive to tie the game were also ++. At the same time, yes, both picks were head scratchers and basically lost them the game. He may not be a great QB right now, but the traits are more than enough to get you drafted in the 1st round (i.e. Daniel Jones/AR/Jamarcus Russel comps). Throw in the Manning-chromosome and it's a no-brainer.

I'm not saying even the best NFL system can mold him into Josh Allen, but I think it's probable/possible that he can be developed into the Daniel Jones/Sam Darnold/Eli Manning mid-tier/game-manager starter in the league.

Said it this weekend. If I was an NFL GM, I am not taking this guy in any round but he's going to get drafted just based on his name.
He is going to be drafted. idk where. Mocks say high...but idk.

He would be a pretty poor drafted quarterback that high. The odds are against him.

However, the league has been kind to these very risky "everyone thinks they are going to stink" quarterbacks. Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Sam Darnold of recent vintage exceeded and have become very good starters despite statistical and eye test struggles in college.

Arch is a level lower than those players statistically and doesn't have the splash plays that those guys had in college.

Even JJ McCarthy had a better statistical profile and he was a very milquetoast prospect.

I'd expect him to stick around one more year. He's not in any rush. Doesn't make a excessive amount of money and everyone in and around the program thinks there is a LOT more juice to squeeze out.

And with that said, he’s still a lot more talented than arch is. Arch is in year four and still can’t anticipate throws or windows.

That’s a fair projection. I don’t think Arch is generational. Where I pushback is this idea that he’s a total fraud. I think he has real talent and he’s tough.

Ironically, the best scenario for Arch is if it somehow turns on for him as it seemingly did for him down the stretch last season. Then he really turns it on like his uncle Eli did in NFL playoffs.
Not try to do too much or throw any dangerous passes. Be a good game manager. Let the running game be a focus. Let the defensive monsters do their thing and win that way.

That will be his only hope at winning in the SEC or making a playoff run.

But odds are more likely all the pressure and nervous energy gets to him and they lose a few more games and fail to make any run.
They haven't run the ball well.

I like that comp. Arch has a world of talent.

Yea of course most of us aren't watching the all 22. Who has the time to watch all the games on Saturday, then go back and watch the all 22, or even have access to it, unless it is there job to do it? Also, there is the assumption that if someone watches the all 22 then whatever they say must be true and I must take everything they say as fact.

I hope everything you're saying is true, that Texas has more problems than just Manning. If you are watching the all 22 of random Texas games, more power to you.

I think if we're going to make a definitive claim about what's wrong with this offense, we should have enough information to support that conclusion. Nobody is saying you have to watch the All-22 for every team or every game. But if you're going to make a definitive claim about a anyone being the problem, you should have enough information to support that conclusion.

You can't properly evaluate any player or coach by watching the broadcast alone or clips. You need to look at the protection, route concepts, receiver separation, play design, and whether the quarterback is making the right reads. Sometimes the QB is at fault, and sometimes the people around him are failing to do their jobs.

I'm not asking anyone to take my word as gospel just because I watched the All-22's before coming in here making claims and just tossing **** on the wall. I'm saying that if you're going to make an argument about what's wrong with this particular offense, you should do research and have enough information to understand the whole picture before putting the blame on one player. There's a difference between having an opinion and having the evidence to support it.

Don't disagree with any of that, but sir, this is a football message board full of people who don't **** about football (including myself). Are you watching the all 22 of all Texas games?
