I think they will be better than TCU, because IU has a bit more money and Cigs is a better coach than Dykes. That said, don't be shocked if they become a consistently solid program, not world beaters. They had a special year, had Miami not given that game away, the perception of the IU program would be more realistic.

Cigs doesn't want to play games worth a crap OOC, that's going to be an issue once the P4 starts requiring 10+ P4 games. IU doesn't have a roster deep enough to survive a full season playing decent competition. They also can't count on the B1G to do them a solid, where they only play 1-2 good B1G teams per year. Eventually, they will have a year where they play PSU, OSU and Michigan in the same year.
 
“Gave the game away” is a misconception. It was the wrong choice to protect our DB’s in the first half. The coaching staff chose to play that way. They were scared and trying to get to the locker room. Defense ran outta gas late bc of the extended time they stayed on the field giving up free first downs. If Lucas was available, it’s full go and we win. We should look at that targeting call on him with the same disgust as Terry Porter’s PI and the Gary bull**** fumble.

It’s easy to not have to recruit top talent when you have the other team’s playbook and game plan. Just notice the difference between our 1st half and 2nd half against their defense.

In the 1st half, they seemed to know every single play that we were running and shooting the perfect gap every single time. In the 2nd half we started gashing them, and it was no coincidence. I believe that Mario and Dawson had seen the rumors of their alleged cheating and were prepared with a different game plan to start the 2nd half. They looked confused and flustered for most of it.

It’s a crying shame that Beck under-threw that last pass. We had those jabronies on the ropes and were about to give them the Mike Tyson, lights out uppercut.

The worst part is seeing those annoying IU fans on social media trolling on every single Canes related post. But I guess that after having the worst winning percentage in the history of college football, they’re celebrating as much as they can because they won’t be seeing another one of those for a VERY long time.

They'll make the playoffs because they play a **** schedule. Their schedule is just OSU; they can lose that game and at 11-1 still make the playoffs.

It will eventually come to light on some shady bs they are perpetrating. Even pulling Brock Schott with the timing of it had to be purely motivated to obtain an advantage against us.

I know technically it was within the transfer rules for them to get him, but I am only pointing out the major motivator wasn't just adding a talent. It was all about gaming the system for an edge. I wouldn't be surprised if Schott barely plays for them this year only adding fuel to the fire of my point.

Elite coaching and talent evaluation. They had a lot of talented under the radar prospects from JMU and added other strong portal guys. They had a very strong draft class and some of the testing numbers pre-draft were shockingly strong.

They hit on a magic combination last year but I think what they’re doing is sustainable

I mean why wouldn’t it be? If you’ve got good coaches and infrastructure in place, and money, they’ll be dangerous

The lifeblood of a team is excellent recruiting, and these clowns at IU are nowhere as adept as so many other teams in putting together top recruits in a top class........

His JMU oldsters have left, and now he has to show his mettle by Coaching and reloading........it ain't happening in his Class this year ...ranked 33 or 34....The portal can taketh away too....ask FSU...so infrastructure or not with all that money???????.....nah...

The truth is somewhere in the middle. He doesn't seem too likeable so I think he prefers to the grab en quick mentality of focusing on portal vs high school. But he no doubt is an excellent talent evaluator and developer. Now when it come to on field coaching he gets slurped up crazy right now and my gut tells me his staff had some Connor Stallions type ish going on. But ultimately we will see what he can do long term. I think they get back to playoffs but lose. They lost too many difference makers and all it takes is a key injury or two and they can't make it up with comparable talent.

I have my questions about them, but we were incredibly predictable and conservative in the first half. They schemed up our tendencies and we played into it. Not rocket science, crash the A gap and bracket Mali
