I hope Garcia gets to play next week

the way the offense is run, it has to end in 6 every time. we dont give ourselves any room for error. there just aren't enough possessions in the game due to our tempo and scheme. at this rate, I almost rather go 3 and out than waste 10 min of clock to end up getting nothing out of it.
Against a team like A&M with a **** offense I agree but against UNC and all the teams we lost to last year (and maybe the three we barely beat) going 3&out constantly hurts your d and puts you in a position to go 7-5 when you’re more talented than that too.

By the way, I know this was supposed to be a puff piece, but it raised serious red flags to me:

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...aiting-two-decades-quarterback-tyler-van-dyke.

Most troubling part,
"When Gattis first joined the staff, he asked Van Dyke how he kept in touch with his receivers during the offseason. Turns out, he didn't. He didn't even have most guys' phone numbers.

"That was just shocking," Gattis said. "How can you build a team of wide receivers, tight ends, quarterbacks, and you're not all being on a group chat -- all be talking? You're not all throwing, watching film? So we've tried to build that camaraderie."

How a P5 QB isn't running routes with his receivers all summer and off-season I truly don't know.

That was seriously shocking to me.
Btw as bad and shocking as this quote is, Gattis is also kind of giving me Doc Rivers vibes throwing his QB under the bus to a reporter doing a story on him

were going 7-5 w this current offense regardless. eventually, the D will break as the season goes on esp w this offensive output. as good as they played last night, they still gave up one real TD which is fantastic. at some point, you gotta take it on you and say were gonna score somehow some way to help the D out. we coached that game to lose. that tough talk bull**** is bull****. kicking a field goal down 17-6 w that series of play calling right before was horse **** and Manny esque sorry. you dont run what we did in that sequence to not go for it. we didnt attempt a single end zone score. everything was hope and pray someone breaks through. that TVD draw play neede everything to be perfect to even score. that is such a small margin for error.

When you first posted the thread, I was like, “oh, come on!! Already calling for the back up.”

But then as I thought about it and the excuses on this board about not having Restrepo out there and my own questioning as to why he doesn’t have a connection to other receivers or knows them better to not feel comfortable with them have been confirmed by this post of your with the extra info.

That is a big time red flag. If I was a scout of an NFL team looking into things that would scare the fvkk out of me.

As a Canes fan, that is very disappointing to hear as that is something I would have never expected out of TVD.

I am still not calling for the back up but as Mario says, “how you do anything is how you do everything.”

Yes. I think receivers played poorly and dropped some passes but I think TVD is late on his reads and he under threw 2 and over threw (and too far inside) another pass that would've been TDs. Maybe Jake doesn't make those, but even on his completions on those intermediately deep throws there was too much air under the passes and our guys didn't have time to make plays after the catch. If he'd thrown those with more zip they're bigger plays
I agree with this.

Jake ha been known to be a gunslinger. It can be awesome or it can be bad if he misreads or takes too big of a risk.

But TVD being overly cautious has hurt as well. No turnovers, which is good but he did have some interceptable throws. The double pumps and hesitation allows for the defense to close the small gap there is.

*sigh* it’s more common than you think because these kids are not the kids of old.

Would you expect it out of the heisman winner? How about the usc QB only throwing with Mario Williams? It’s much more common than y’all think even if it is wrong.

I didn’t like the field goal call at the end. You are exactly correct on the play call.

Even if you don’t score a TD, they are backed up and your D is playing well and maybe you force them to punt from deep and you end up with good field position or you get a turnover.

I hated the Fvkkk out of that FG call.

No, I wouldn’t expect it out of the Heisman winner. I agree that throwing with one guy, a friend, etc and even throwing with friends or guys from other teams is common.

But to not communicate with receivers on your own team, that I have a problem with. Not everyone has to be friends on that team. I wasn’t friends with all of my teammates but in football, I believe you need to have communication at a minimum with your position group.

If they aren’t putting in the work on their own, that would be evident once practices start.

lol where does it say Bryce young and USCs QB don’t have their WRs numbers and only throw with one WR who happens to be their roommate?

Common bro are you kidding

Canes fans turn on their guys so fast man it’s ridiculous. Hasn’t even been a full day. I can’t wait to see the all 22.
Every fan base does man. Stop making it exclusively to Miami fans.

I don’t agree with replacing TVD. It’s ok to question him and anything going on with this offense.

What is happening, after what we saw last year, something is off.

Some say it’s not TVD. Some say it’s Gattis or the receivers. Some say it’s the receivers. Likely a combo of all three. IMO, it has to be a combo.

Jesus Christ, how did I miss this? That’s awful. Doesn’t seem like they ever did improve that, because he was not on the same page with anyone last night. This is why it worried me so much that he was so fixated on Restrepo. Kid got hurt and now it’s looking grim for those connections.

I was upset Jake didn’t get snaps vs So Miss. He deserves reps
He did get a few snaps in the end. Went 2-2 throwing the ball and came in after TVD got sacked but he should’ve played more.

i know for a fact Bryce didn’t work out with his WR’s. He was almost exclusively working out with pros. And I know for fact only mario and Caleb worked together. The **** happens. Should it? Absolutely not but y’all are blowing up a point that shouldnt be blown up

To this degree? I’m calling out ****. If another sensible fan base pumped him up all offseason as a heisman hopeful (which I told everybody to chill on) they would question what’s changed first. Please

Are you serious? Stop being such a highfalutin ***. So you knew TVD was going to struggle? Go read any SEC board when **** doesn’t go their way. ****, we have a Gaturd tears thread specifically for that reason.it’s not exclusive to Miami. The media and others pumped him up as well.

I know your deep background, experience and knowledge.

Be clear with everyone here so we know where you stand: out of the two options, who is the problem? TVD or Gattis?

Others here like @SWFLHurricane, @JayCane20, LCE, @Cribby and others have been clear on their opinion. So where do you stand?

@SouthParkCane is a smart football dude , he saw what we saw. It’s obvious.
