I hope Garcia gets to play next week

His passes were wobbly and inaccurate. Someone asked if he was playing with an injury. It sure looked that way.
The Parrish drop was really freaking bad. That one wasn't on TVD, but yeah he just didn't make a lot of plays and he seemed slow and uncomfortable. Everyone talks about Lashlee but people aren't acknowledging that TVD hard really slow and bad starts with Lashlee too with a lot of these same issues, he just usually turned into a super sayian at the end of the game and we overlooked it for the most part

Apart from the inaccuracy, he was missing recievers. One that stuck out was on the last drive....I was between the home EZ & the A&M sideline and had a clear view of Keyshawn Smith running open down the left sideline, his man beat by 3 yards. TVD didn't even look his way.

I don't know if Jake is the answer. Pretty much all the reports out of camp had him being outplayed by TVD. But at this point, as the backup quarterback, he needs to see the field...regardless of preseason accolades. Simple as that.

I thought TVD put way too much mustard on that short pass to Parrish which he dropped.

While catchable, TVD didn't exactly make the catch easy for Parrish.

TVD is just plain off in this offense.

Garcia threw like 8 passes under gattis and last played before that again central conn. we dont know if he can handle a real team lol
Threw 8 passes and had 8 completions lol

But yeah I know he hasn’t been really tested. TVD has and it hasn’t been good this year. I still think he can turn it around but I think we need to give Jake a shot at least in practice and have a real qb competition.

Maybe the pressure of Jake just being available is getting to TVD idk. Last year he was our only choice and maybe he found comfort in that. A lot more eyes on him this year

By the way, I know this was supposed to be a puff piece, but it raised serious red flags to me:

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...aiting-two-decades-quarterback-tyler-van-dyke.

Most troubling part,
"When Gattis first joined the staff, he asked Van Dyke how he kept in touch with his receivers during the offseason. Turns out, he didn't. He didn't even have most guys' phone numbers.

"That was just shocking," Gattis said. "How can you build a team of wide receivers, tight ends, quarterbacks, and you're not all being on a group chat -- all be talking? You're not all throwing, watching film? So we've tried to build that camaraderie."

How a P5 QB isn't running routes with his receivers all summer and off-season I truly don't know.

That was seriously shocking to me.
But but but TVD was such a leader they said lol weird **** still goin on internally with some players and I can’t wait until its fixed.

Agreed. Not VanDyke's fault BUT you can see that he's not comfortable yet in this offense.
100% agree he's not the QB thus far he was last year but only on CIS can idiots be clamoring for the backup already.

Someone told me this summer Garcia was much better for this offense & I thought they were nuts. They were 100% right.

TVD isn't going anywhere next year and I'd bet a large sum of money that Garcia won't stick around another year waiting. As a QB, why would you? Why would you want to be a QB in this offense? He would be on a very short leash with me at this point.

Here we go with this nonsense. As I've said in another thread, the backup QB is always a stud in the making, until he plays and you realize that there's a reason why he isn't starting. I doubt Mario, a guy that wasn't married to either guy went with TVD just because. TVD, for all his flaws apparently outperformed Garcia in both spring and fall camps and established himself as QB1. He needs to get his mechanics right and get back to making consistent plays, but let's stop acting like TVD is Rosier or someone like that, where you win despite him...

really been tested? hes seen better comp in HS than the dudes he got game snaps against. the pressure of Jake has nothing to do with TVD. its quite obvious the system we run on offense isnt something TVD excels in and that goes for the WRs as well.

This is from the puff piece ESPN did for him in anticipation of college gameday.

It also goes on to say when he's playing golf or 2k and is winning by too much he lets the other guys come back to make it more interesting lol. It talks about the time they played doubles golf with the punters and after being up by a comfortable margin he starts losing on purpose again and they end up losing because he can't catch up. Excerpt below:

"We'll be playing NBA 2K, and we'll be blowing people out, and he'll let them come back," Restrepo said. "He just plays with fire."

Van Dyke and Restrepo had gone golfing with two of Miami's punters this summer -- a scramble, most holes wins -- and after seven holes, they were already up five. Boring, Van Dyke thought.

"He starts chunking shots on purpose," Restrepo said. "He's laughing about it."

The plan backfired though. After 15, Restrepo and Van Dyke were down two holes. The pressure was on.

On 16, Van Dyke drains a birdie to take the hole.

On 17, he does it again -- sinks a putt from 10 feet out. They're tied.

Last hole, Van Dyke steps to the tee and -- shanks it.

"Flubs the drive," Restrepo said, "and we lost. He was mad."

It goes on to say he would never do that with football, but I just wonder who by this age hasn't learned to put your foot on someone's throat and don't fck around about winning and losing
****, son, and I made a joke about the 'pitching and catching' reference last week with him and Restrepo being teammates.

Is there something they need to tell us? It's ok, it's 2022, lads.

Garcia, Matocha, Brown. I don’t give a fvck who it is. You don’t deserve to keep your job after a performance like that.
Henceforth Big **** Van Dyke will be known as Tyler Van Dyke.

He's lost those privileges.

Huge red flag. Wonder if Garcia did?

Jake Garcia seems like a way better fit for this scheme. If we aren't switching the scheme, we need to switch QBs.

TVD needs a lot of passes and usually a halftime break (at least he did last year) before he starts to sling it without over thinking. He was phenomenal in the second half last year, but he was often times timid and unsure in the first. That is how he has looked all year this year, and with our emphasis on dominating with the run and having more balance I'm not sure he's going to get the time he needs to feel comfortable.

I know he's great when he's clicking, but it isn't great that he takes so long to click. Nothing against the kid, but Jake doesn't seem like he has the same confidence / over thinking issues. He's doesn't think that much lol he just whips it and is excited and ready to play.

I want to see what he can do because I think if he was in we win that game even with all the BS and self-inflicted problems we had.

Thoughts?

P.S. I'm not excusing the dropped passes or the fact that a different playcaller and scheme would be more friendly for TVD. I'm just saying I think we need someone who believes we can win, and someone who believes in their ability to execute the offense. I think Jake is that guy
He wouldn't have faired any better last night. Our Red Zone Offense is a complete pile of sh*t once again. Terrible play calling inside the 20 for 15+ yrs.
