Say what you will but the coaches have improved our record every year. I don't believe it is Golden's fault Shannon left junk at this school. I don't believe it is Golden's fault recruiting depth was not evenly balanced out (4 CBs recruited by Shannon in span of 4 years). I don't believe it is Golden's fault we had NO talent at QB so we resorted to transfers to build depth.
Is it funny now that Golden has dug his roots in Miami the team has far more talent? Is it a coincidence some of our best players are all underclassmen?
Even with all the garbage that has tarnished this football program we have improved in wins every year. Say what you will with scheduling but wins are wins, and this is all with a lack of talent. Imagine the possibilities now that actual depth is being built and there is talent spread across the team.
Have their been growing pains? Of course there has but what did you expect with what was here 4 years ago? No coach would have won here with a Stephen Morris at QB and freaking Highsmith as a starting safety. A QB turned safety was starting for us and you guys expected good things from our defense, el oh el.
What I find funny is how someone tries to ignore the fact that the conference has grown worse each year since Golden has been here. When Randy was here, we had UNC starting to look good (**** that team they had the year they got in trouble would have been scary good), GT occasionally cracking the top 20 and even the top 10 at one point, VT dominating as always (usually a top 10-15 team), FSU was still FSU (usually ranked, but not meeting championship expectations), and Clemson starting to turn into an actual threat.
This is not to say Randy only failed because of that, but Since Golden has been here, UNC is on the decline and **** near back to what they were when Butch took over, VT is the worst they have been in decades, GT is about the same, Duke is respectable, but an above average team at best (and doing it with mostly 2 star players), Virginia sucks, Pitt sucks, Clemson is the not great this year. In all honesty FSU and GT are the only good teams in this entire conference right now and I'm being generous for GT. For golden not to improve our wins each year would be an abomination considering how good our recruiting has been even with the cloud.
Keep throwing the players under the bus to support the coaches. Noone told the coaches to start Highsmith. If he was that bad, I find it hard to believe noone was more talented. Stemo was looking like a potential 1st rounder the year before last and magically got worse and I'm sure it had nothing to do with us bringing in a rookie OC.
Keep harping on more wins if you want, but if that's all that matters, we might as well go to the Sun Belt conference where Golden might only lose 1-2 games a year and we could keep talking about improving wins since opponent quality has no factor to you.
I'm sorry but you just said Stephen Morris looked like he had first round potential. Check his stats please against any decent competition. I find it funny the defense everyone berates saved his *** against UNC/Wake/Florida last year while he was busy gaining personal foul calls.
And yes the lack of talent was that bad for Highsmith to be starting, please name me the talented backup we had for him
Who the **** said anything about stats. Stats don't always tell the whole story. What I'm referencing is the high note he was closing that season out with and entering the following season with lots of hype. This isn't just hype from us, but hype from the media. There were articles questioning who was the better potential first round prospect, Morris or Duke.

"The Hurricanes' roster is starting to show signs of top-round talent, though. Senior quarterback Stephen Morris and sophomore Duke Johnson are two players that have the potential to change the 'Canes' recent first-round drought."
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...s-winston-trumps-stephen-morris-in-qb-matchup
"Stephen Morris (6-2, 218) is averaging 209.0 passing yards per game, with 10 TDs and eight picks. He is completing 59.9 percent of his passes, a disappointing number for a guy who won the skills competition at the elite Manning Passing Academy over the summer.
He went into the season seemingly poised to become a first-round quarterback, but it's now fair to ask whether he is even one of the top 12 quarterbacks in the nation."
Are you ****ing kidding me that the defense bailed Morris out during UNC and WF? Florida yes, but our offensive line did our offense no favors last year in that game. Did you even watch the UNC and WF games where Ebron lit us up for some record running the same route over and over and over? Did you watch WF game where they kept throwing the same 5 yard crossing route over and over and over? Those games are perfect examples of when many people realized how bad our defense was. Those games were the eye openers for many who didn't see the problems right from the beginning.
As far as Highsmith goes, it was not about the the fact that we had some talented backup, it's about the fact that people make it out that he was worst player in the history of DI football. I didn't say he or any of his backups were great, but if he was truly that bad, I'm sure someone could have stepped into that role, maybe even one of our cbs. The defense we run sure doesn't do him any favors, where we rush 3 guys and the qb has all day to look for a receiver. Qb's a could sit in the pocket and take a nap against us last year.
You started this thread knowing full well what to expect from people. You spout BS and try to ignore surrounding factors. I think as far as the pro Goldenites and the anti Golden folks, there are a few key milestones right now that at a bare minimum will either put the anti golden crowd to rest for a bit, or will carry the debate into the offseason. Beat FSU (or at least look like we have a shot), win the Coastal, beat teams that are actually good (Duke is respectable, but they are not good. There is a reason they only have 1 loss, but can't crack the top 20).
