I Can’t Get Over That Two Minute Drill

Actually I think Homer, inexplicably, didn't go out of bounds. Maybe it was a different play, he picked up the first down, but tried to pick up another 2-3 yards and got tackled instead of stopping clock. Clock was way more important in that situation (which he might not have been aware of given how Rick was managing the series).

That’s the play I’m referring to. Homer cut inside for an extra few yards but eventually got tackled out of bounds. Ref gave us a break but I think homer and our team thought clock was still running

I didn't think he got out of bounds. Huh. Guess I was as confused as the players.

Same. I also had to walk out of the stands last night in the fourth quarter. Went out to the concessions area and stood, pretty much alone listening to the radio broadcast that they play over the speakers underneath the stands.

I’m not even sick about it anymore. I’m just done.

And BTW, @UMJer026 i was back in the stands 5 minutes later cheering on the team and making noise for the defense once I collected myself and calmed down long enough to stuff my rage back into my subconscious. We stayed and rooted the team on through the final play. The fans gave their all, which is more than can be said for our “head coach”.

Homer stayed in bounds but the ref ruled he went out of bounds, stopping the clock.

Homer

Homer inexplicably tried to stay in bounds! Which was another massive, idiotic blunder on this abortion of a drive.

Given Rick's clock management to that point, I can understand why Homer might not have thought he needed to get out of bounds. Whats that saying about Players taking on a coach's personality?

Miami had to run the football - which ultimately milked the clock. It was the only way they could move the football and even get into a position to win. A necessary evil, unfortunately. Miami had their chance...Cager is just no JJ Arcega-Whiteside and had to push off against a 5'10" corner in our one chance to bring it within a two-point conversion.

The two minute drill was terrible, but the team was in a position to tie it. They just...blew it.

We shouldn’t have to be in a position to tie. With our talent this game shouldn’t be close. The Virginia’s and Dukes of the world have no business keeping it close or beating us.
The talent is there but we don’t seem to be utilizing the talent or coaching it up. Until that happens nothing will change I’m afraid.

This team is a flacid *****.

No life. No urgency. Just flopping around out there.

Soft and weak.

What do we expect? Toward the end of the first half, it took our staff about 12 real time seconds to realize it’d be a good idea to call a timeout after yet another 3rd down stop by the defense. We only wasted about 7-8 seconds off the time on the board, but it was horrifying to watch the slow processing calculation that it’d better to have 1:40 or so left without any timeouts than 1:00 or so left with 1 timeout. This is what happens when not enough people are working together as eyes on the field and in anticipation of sequences and scenarios. It may sound stupid and small, but it’s indicative of larger issues we now see consistently.

But it's NOT stupid and small, it determines wins and losses. As it did here.

What two minute drill? We had 4:15 on the clock when we got the ball back. Not flaming OP. I'm just pointing out just how much time was actually left.

Our drive took so long, we literally almost wore Duke down from our sheer incompetent play.

That MF sees about 90% of all snaps.... Just another horrible personnel choice in the looongg list of horrible personnel choices by Mork and co.

Amen. Guy has more drops than catches this year, plays like he's 5'8 instead of 6'5, and displays the WOAT body language out on the field.

With no sarcasm at all, I can say I've taken so much of this better than I normally would because of their warnings. I've merely been cautiously optimistic from jump and continuously talked about the offense - even during Kaaya's end of season run during year 1 - in large part because I watched a lot of Richt's games at FSU, early UGA and listened to their fans.

If we're going to be surprised, I guess it should be at the degree of rigidity and overall reactionary nature we've seen. After spending all season saying fans know nothing and how external commentators are ignorant, we come out yesterday and sprinkle in an almost weird amount of forced jet sweeps. Everything is late. The degree of this current state is nearly unbelievable.

This is when you know its over. They are soo rigid and have soo little mental capital in the offensive coaching room in regards to how modern spread offense is played now that they sit there with straight face and make comments of these plays worked for 30 years and we dont need explosive plays, then sit in room and actually said hey maybe we should send Langham in motion and see if that works..

And i leave this quote from a article on how saban has had to change with how the game has evolved also

"I looked it up in 2011, we gave up 8.1 points per game for the season and were [No. 1 nationally] in points allowed. If you give up 15 points a game now, you're in the top five to top 10. I mean, twice as many. Philosophically, a lot of people have changed, not just us. If you look at some of the analytics now, whether you should go for it on fourth down and all the different situational stuff that happens, it's all geared toward offense."

"What I do know is you've got to adapt, and you've got to keep adapting because the game is always changing."

So you have the standard bearer who has every resource and talent needed AND already has tons of jewelry and has won at highest level doing it a certain way saying you have to continue to adapt because the game has changed. Even if you dont necessarily like it or want to.

And you have another guy who says hey the plays have worked for 30 years as he loses and loses to some terrible teams. This is a nightmare

Like was stated in earlier post, if you've never heard of Miami prior to 2004/2005 we have been no better or worse than those schools.

Lu, it's baffling isn't it. And it's even worse when they actually try to implement something that us armchair guys are screaming for and they can't even do that right. If I haven't learned anything in life, I've learned pressure is a mf'er. You can tell he's feeling it. Not necessarily from the people that determine his employment, but most definitely from the fans. That guy is toast. It's just how long our administration wants to let him cook.
