I can’t defend Manny

We haven't had an actual relevant season since 2003. I don't need to discuss Dee, Eichorst or Hocutt because we don't employ them currently. I am only discussing the mouth breather at AD because he is still employed as the AD.

No. The error was hiring Blake in the first place. How many times do we need to promote a potato from a failed regime before we learn it is illogical and irrational? Again, the problem isn't the search. The problem is their employment. Blake and Jenn shouldn't be involved because they're not qualified to be involved. They have to go and they're the issue.

We deserve a competent AD with passion and autonomy. That is all that matters.

Then you surely know of the multiple committees, conferences, meetings with political figures, etc. she's been nominated to participate in by the University President. When you see titles like head female administrator, chairperson of the diversity committee etc that person is not getting fired because the football team sucks.

Not relevant. Let me make it simple, she isn't qualified to have any decision making or input with football.

It isn't hard to move on, without her lovely opinions, in the future.
 
It’s simple. Hire a guy with prolonged head coaching success, or you’re putting yourself in a vulnerable position to fail.

To be fair that's a different proposition that you were making earlier. You said she had 'to go"... I'm telling you she will be employed by the university. Now, does she get reassigned away from making football hires? Who the f*** knows. But that's a different outcome than the one you stipulated.

I think he laid it out though.

Randy was a rookie who had zero respect from the players. He was a joke to them. There are videos of Jacory literally laughing at his attempt at a halftime speech. He was an unintelligible man who had been hired from the sinking ship.

Golden was a mirage, was a loser until they became a MAC team, and still was a 9 win guy. Ran an archaic defense. Huge red flags.

Richt was a miserable hire. He essentially was retired after he got kicked to the curb by a school that would kill to have our success. We hired a loser from a loser program and expected him to magically become some champion coach. Some of the best rationalizations were “the AD made him run a ****** offense at UGA” lmfao.

Diaz is just a slap in the face. A middle of the road DC, whose defenses like his whole coaching style are all flash no substance. A man who has never coached or played on a winning team. An FSU grad whose father is close friends with many on our BOT. A coach who was in the marketplace, and the best offer he got was from TEMPLE.

What is so confusing about this? The only decent hire on paper was Golden, and he was upon closer inspection a total fraud that should have been exposed by a legit coaching search and competent AD.

i have been optimistic on every hire once announced, because I am a fan and didn’t do the assessment and sadly assumed someone competent must have. I soured on Golden pretty darn early — early than most. But SOME folks were negative right when he was hired. Because they did the scrutiny and realized the theory was bunk. And those guys were fans.

You comments ignore that the failures should have been OBVIOUS to anyone professionally capable and tasked with investigating those decisions.

These guys didn’t fail for ‘different reasons,’ moreover. That is spin to try to avert your gaze from the obvious. The coaches we have hired failed because they were not competent for the roles they were hired for. The expression of their incompetence may be idiosyncratic, but it’s a mistake to get lost in the rear view mirror. Imagine two guys fall off a bridge. One hits water and drowns, the other hits a rock and splits his head. They didn’t expire for ‘different reasons‘ in any meaningful sense. That’s where we are at. Bottom line: they were all bad hires, incapable of succeeding, and failed for the various reasons that incapable people fail for.

The ‘admins’ aren’t that varied. It was Shalala for most of the hires, and her AD Blake for the last one with a new president. The board is the board.

Anyhow, I disagree it’s hard to see why people have failed at the jobs they are incompetent at. We have not hired someone remotely fit for the role in 20 years.

Did you not understand the point that we need to bring in a new AD and allow them to make their staff/hires?
 
I seen Blake outside the box suite the game before last. I almost went up to him to ask a few questions. I'm going to say something to him if I see him next game.

That was Richt. Unfortunately, that prolonged success had taken a lot out of him and he was already making late-period Paterno/Bowden moves like hiring his son.

If Manny keeps trending toward failure, I would look to an offensive-minded coach with a clear system. We haven’t done that yet. But even that approach can go sideways. Chip Kelly is 1-5 and Fuente is losing to everyone but us. These things are hard to predict.
 
here would be the question I have. Where is there a mid level AD that has had success finding good coaches and made good coaching hires. To me, that should be the next search.

Richt was totally NOT that.

He was a burnt to a crisp failure coach who couldn’t get over the hump. When he was “successful” in the SEC it was bc the rest of the league was flat out awful.

I was distraught we brought in the failed semi retired coached from a lesser program. I thought it made us look pathetic that we picked up UGAs leftovers. We were telegraphing to recruits that we don’t expect to be at UGAs level. Was a goddam disgrace.

There are plenty. How about Mr. Hart or Mr. White? They're under paid and available.

Richt’s record is 171-64 with a 73% winning percentage. In the five years before we hired him, he averaged 10 wins.

It didn’t work because he was burnt out. But he’s the definition of a “proven, prolonged winner.” The other guys who meet that definition aren’t available.

Our best bet is to get a guy on the rise. That failed with Golden but may work better with an offensive mind. But for every Herman there is a Fuente. It’s a wildly inexact science.
