How to finish 2015 class

Eh, those are all fair points but probably bigger picture than this thread (I think anyway). I absolutely LOVE the DL (and front 7 in general) class we brought in last year. The talent isn't ideal next year if someone on the DL goes down, we should be able to survive. We're one play away from Hunter Wells getting a lot of snaps next year. If Knighton didn't have health concerns, and Gibbons ended up here, I probably wouldn't be overly concerned, but there is a clear priority on getting OL numbers correct going forward.

I do think one of the current OL commits doesn't end up here, and 2 new ones will be added. Merrick/Loftus/Christian/Brown/Gauthier isn't an amazing class but it will probably do the job, and is needed from a numbers stand point.

Who are realistic options at DT at this point? Dont want to hear Paranos tell me about some kid who has no interesnt...

RJ McIntosh is supposed to grow into a DT.

We're also in it for that Canadian DT with OSU. That's all I know of for high schoolers.

Then there's a couple JuCos in Ledbetter and Lewis. Other than that there's no hope.

YES, We are going to lose alot of talent this season with Feliciano, McDermott and possibly Flowers. The way its working out, we gotta get some more guys in, in order to have them shirt and get bigger, stronger and clean up technique.

Makes sense....3 out, 6 in. You don't recruit replacements for the line AFTER they leave. You recruit 2 years in advance so they have time to develop and replace the players leaving.

Also, besides it not making ANY sense (replacement wise), we need or lack depth at other positions (LB, DT, DB) and the plan is to bring in 6 OL and 5 WRs. Makes sense.

The depth at OL is a bigger issue than depth at interior DL right now.

the depth at corner is paper thin

Paper thin is a bit of an exaggeration.

There's 1 senior and plenty of bodies. If your talking about quality talent, then I'd agree.

Quality Talent at corner? I must have missed something. Howard/ACrawford/Elder/Burns going into 2015 sounds like a good start to me. We are going to load up on DBs this year.

QB Done
RB Done
WR Peete or hopefully Ridley
TE Clarington or Jason Lewis
OL Loftus and Merrick
DE Marquavius Lewis
DT Neville Gallimore
LB Humphrey and Coney(a prayer)
S Jaquan Johnson, Tim Irvin and Burgess Becker
CB Cole, C.Davis and D.Davis.

I'm hoping for a JUCO LB... that way there is not another LB in front of Shaq...

We have a lot of talent at CB right now, but not enough number. BTW, when did I miss Dortch not being on the team anymore? Not on roster I just checked.

Corners:

Howard
Gunter
Burns
A. Crawford
Elder
Lewis III
Mayes

A lot of talent?

We could possibly be losing our top two corners after this season in Howard and Gunter.

Behind them I wouldn't exactly say we have a lot of talent. Burns has potentional, Crawford has played up and down, and Elder gets raves apparently but is unproven. Lewis and Mayes are completely unproven. And to be honest, I don't have high hopes for the last two.

We need 3 talented corners in this class and have to hope that one or two of them are ready to contribute right away.

We may be one play from Hunter Wells (I doubt it since he is probably 3rd string T or G) but the people in front of him are PROVEN or ready to step up. As for Knighton, he is also a back up and not likely the next man in either. He has time to heal.

At OL, I would say the following are going to start:

T: Flowers
T: Gadbois
G: Isadora
G: Felicano
C: McDermott

Next 3 in: Gall, Flowers, McDermott and Darling

My guess is Knighton, Wells and Odogwu are behind the 9 above.

I am down to get rid of the crap currently committed and replace them with better talent on the OL. WiFo all day long.

No argument in talent of the top 8 (think the OL production this year is gonna be great if S McDermott can step up), just concerned about depth going forward. Flowers staying his senior year would be a huge help.

Why cant we be like USC and get most of the elite talent in our backyard.

Trust me USC has been fighting recently for California Prospects. Lane Kiffin did to them what Randy Shannon did to us. The difference is they had the elite players before the bowl ban. We had a bunch of busts and 2 star prospects. we kinda have to rebuild the brand of the U. This year is the year where we must say we are back or we will never be back. Or we shouldnt hire a coach that comes from a smaller school like Temple.

Mr Quarterman, I don't think it matters who they bring in front of your son. Shaq seems to have all the intangibles that cannot be coached. He strikes me as a very coachable and high character kid. Put that together with his physical tools and his apparent knack for the game and high football IQ and your son will be playing early and often. I know it's very early and there is no such thing as a sure thing but Shaq seems to have that drive and passion to be the best. He has a gift and should be a very special player here.

Current QBs (1) - Lawson
- Continue recruiting Gibson and hope to pull off a major upset. If we don't land him, then Lawson is a solid addition in the class after Kaaya's and before Allison's.

Current RBs (3) - Scarlett, Cronkrite, Williams (Walton still 2016, according to Pete)
- Scarlett has said all the right things publicly about his commitment to Miami and is the headliner/leader of the class. Must hang onto him at all costs and it certainly helps our cause that he's at STA now. Absolute stud.

- Cronkrite is apparently concerned about the numbers, but they'll likely work themselves out. Heck of a player.

- Williams is a phenomenal athlete and would be an enormous get if he sticks. But he doesn't plan to take an OV here, has reached out to other schools expressing concern about numbers, and the writing seems to be on the wall. He would be a big loss even with the other backs we have committed because of the RB/WR role he could play in the offense. Having the speed of Scarlett and Williams on the field at the same time would be lethal.

Current WRs (3) - Chatman, Gosier, Spence
- I'm a big fan of Chatman's and I'm very bullish about him, but I could see some turnover at one or two of the other WR spots if we land a higher priority target. Gosier certainly has intriguing upside with his size and athleticism.

- We should obviously continue going after Ridley as hard as possible. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out with Peete (grades) and Durante (current WVU commit).

Current TEs (1) - Archibald
- Archibald is a very solid addition as a traditional in-line TE.

- Jaason Lewis should be the top priority as a move TE who can create mismatches at multiple spots along the formation. If we're able to land Lewis to go along with Archibald, it would be an A+ haul at the position.

Current OL (4) - Brown, Mahoney, Christian, Gauthier
- We're apparently also in the running for Jalen Merrick (would clearly be the best of the group, if he commits) and Brendan Loftus. It would be hard to imagine us taking all of these o-linemen, so it would be interesting to see which ones get pushed out if we add onto the current group.

Current DL (3) - Patchan, McIntosh, Fines
- Patchan has been a vocal leader of the class and has quickly become a fan favorite.

- McIntosh is an interesting addition because of his potential to grow into a DT. And he's the brother of a dynamic 2016 RB (Deon McIntosh) who should be a top priority for next year's class.

- It would be a big help if we land Lewis and/or Ledbetter from the JUCO ranks. Guys like Gallimore, Tuttle, and Green are likely no more than pipe dreams, unfortunately. Goes without saying that we need as much help at DT as we can get and we must upgrade here.

Current LBs (3) - Perry, George (JUCO), Gordinier
- Perry is the best player in this class right now who won't be playing RB in college, IMO. George is a solid addition. Hopefully DeBerry chooses to take an OV here, which would at least give us some semblance of a shot (even a miniscule one).

Current DBs (0)
- After taking just one CB in the previous cycle who many here don't seem to be very high on, we need to hit on our top targets this time around. Flipping Cole from FSU and/or Lewis from UF would be big. Carlton Davis and Davante Davis seem like our other top priorities at CB, according to the board's insiders.

- Just about everyone's ideal semi-realistic scenario at S would be to flip SBB from Alabama and also land Irvin/Jaquan. Failing to land any of them would be disastrous.

This class is disappointing to say the least. You're supposed to stack chips and we're not doing it.

We dont have a single impact WR. We dont have a single impact OL. We're being taken to the woodshed by Penn State.

This is 2010 all over again. 19 committments and only 6 impact players. Then you wonder why half the class isnt even on the roster in 2 years.

And isn't it funny how the skai moore fiasco keeps kicking Golden in the *** more and more every year?
