How to finish 2015 class

6 OL?

Is this real life?

YES, We are going to lose alot of talent this season with Feliciano, McDermott and possibly Flowers. The way its working out, we gotta get some more guys in, in order to have them shirt and get bigger, stronger and clean up technique.

Makes sense....3 out, 6 in. You don't recruit replacements for the line AFTER they leave. You recruit 2 years in advance so they have time to develop and replace the players leaving.

Also, besides it not making ANY sense (replacement wise), we need or lack depth at other positions (LB, DT, DB) and the plan is to bring in 6 OL and 5 WRs. Makes sense.

The depth at OL is a bigger issue than depth at interior DL right now.

Paper thin is a bit of an exaggeration.

There's 1 senior and plenty of bodies. If your talking about quality talent, then I'd agree.

Our WR class is shaping up to be extremely disappointing if Peete has grade issues (or just doesn't pick us) like what's been floating around lately. Especially when you take into account the losses of last cycle (Lane, Rudolph, Dixon) and the elites who are going anywhere but Miami this cycle (Ridley, Phillips, Cain).

And don't even get me started on our average, at best, defensive recruiting so far.

But we have a top 15 class bro!

if we grab Calloway I'm happy with the WR Class

Does Peete really have grade issues? I mean I've heard some speculation, but the kid is at STA, not Champagnat. STA doesn't really play around when it comes to the classroom. In fact, I can't recall a player ever coming out of that school with grade concerns.

At one point I was very high on Peete based on his tape than I heard he doesn't have the work ethic

I wonder where this class ends in rankings. It seems like we're in the top 10 right now solely because of the volume of this class. I feel like our rankings are going to drop once other schools below us start to fill up. I know that's not too important at the end of the day, but I just hope we somehow end up ahead of FSU because I've had it with them betting us in everything football related.

You're right that our current ranking is due to quantity.

For us to end up in the Top 10 in February, we're going to need to dramatically improve the blue-chip ratio of the class and have some of our lower-rated commits head elsewhere. We'd have to land guys like Ridley, Jaason Lewis, SBB, Irvin, Quan, and Cole to achieve that ranking. And it certainly wouldn't hurt to get lucky with a couple out-of-state elites like DeBerry, Marcus Lewis, or a stud DT.

Good one. We haven't produced a single quality DT since Wilford. We have nothing but unproven guys.

At OL: we have the following on scholarship:
Flowers, Felicano, Isadora, Gall, Knighton, McDermott, McDermott (Fr), Darling, Gadbois, Wells, Linder (Fr), Odogwu and Grimsley (hahah)

That is 13. 13 Scholarship Players. That doesn't include Joe Brown (DT).

As it stands we're losing 3 (McDermott, Felicano and Flowers an assumption) and bringing in 4.

We will now have 14 on scholarship after the attrition next season.

I would definitely include Corn in there.

What we've done at DT since Wilfork is largely irrelevant in the discussion. Last class we brought in 2 JUCO NTs (Wyche, Heurtelou) and a HS NT (Jenkins), a HS weakside end/DT (Moten) and a HS strongside end (Chad). We obviously need to follow that up with talent in this class, but the DL depth this season is better than the OL depth. Losing Gibbons last second hurt. 5 OL in this class is probably necessary. Ideally you'll have 15 OL on the roster. Depending on Knighton's health we could be at 7/8 UM caliber OL next year before this class.

We have a lot of talent at CB right now, but not enough number. BTW, when did I miss Dortch not being on the team anymore? Not on roster I just checked.

That said, depending on the JUCO guys go, I could see us bringing in 5/6 interior DL in this class (Patchan [SDE], McIntosh [WDE], Fines [NT], Ledbetter [WDE], Lewis [SDE], plus another HS NT if we can land Tuttle/Gallimore).

Golden said this morning at the ACC thing he left the team. Top 3 next year (Burns/Elder/A.Crawford) is really good, but definitely need to bring in 2 top guys this year.

Corners:

Howard
Gunter
Burns
A. Crawford
Elder
Lewis III
Mayes

A lot of talent?

We could possibly be losing our top two corners after this season in Howard and Gunter.

Behind them I wouldn't exactly say we have a lot of talent. Burns has potentional, Crawford has played up and down, and Elder gets raves apparently but is unproven. Lewis and Mayes are completely unproven. And to be honest, I don't have high hopes for the last two.

We need 3 talented corners in this class and have to hope that one or two of them are ready to contribute right away.

DG,

It is 100% relevant because numbers and quality are different (Since Wilfork). We have actually put out decent OL during that time. The reason it is relevant is because our defense will continue to be subpar (along with the poor coaching) until we put some players out there that can actually play DT. The period also illustrates how terribly we recruited and developed the position for a long time. Until we put out some quality, we need to bring in some more players and at least expand our chances of doing so. History will repeat itself until we fix the problem....of the 2012/13 DT class we have two remaining (Hamilton and Moore) and these are the kids that should be ready to go in 2014. We have at least shown the ability to recruit + develop OL during that time.

OL Depth is good right now. We have 13 on scholarship and that is a 2-3 Deep of Quality. We also have guys ready to step up next year and be starters (to replace Felicano, McDermott and Flowers). The same can't be said about the DT because we don't even know what we have at DT. We know that the elder guys (Hamilton, Moore and King) have shown nothing. Pierre has shown flashes but nothing consistent. The 2 JUCOs, who knows? Finally, 2 Freshman are also unknowns. BUT BUT BUT What we did in 2014 DT recruiting should consistently be done until we have the Quality DTs and depth that we need.
