How much longer do you give Golden?

Golden will be here at least 3 more years. Regardless how anyone here feels this administration loves him and will give him every chance in the world.

Stop living in the past. There is a lot of talent on this team and it should be an exciting season. The group mentality on this board, regurgitating the same old complaints over and over again, is getting old.

Kind of an unnecessary bump, but I'm telling you that your post is not true. They gave Shannon 4 and Coker 6. Golden will not be forwarded more than that and the administration lost its goodwill for him in December. If he fails this year, he is likely gone. Attendance would dictate it.

If we can't win the awful Coastal, fire him on the spot. We will be officially eliminated from the Coastal after the VT game. Fire him and that entire, rotten staff before the game ends.

Yes, "attendance" dictates so much around here. What's your guess-- will it drop from an average of 45k to 40k per game?

What constitutes "failure" this year?

I predict that after the Labor Day massacre, the 2014 attendance will be epically low. Epically low.

When we are 2-2 at best, with the brunt of the season and 6 of 8 home games left, and the crowds are in the 20-30,000's for key ACC games, Golden will be thinking about which team will have him as a positions coach in 2015.

There was a TIME article which was titled, Four Reasons USC's Head Coach Got Fired:

1. Almost nobody thought he deserved the job in the first place. Check.

2. USC was faced with sanctions from the moment Kiffen walked in the door. Check

3. Kiffen didn't exactly endear himself to the media. Not true with Golden

4. USC failed to live up to expectations - in no small part due to Kiffen. Check.

Golden better pull a rabbit out of the hat this year. One more season of NoDefense, and you hopers will not have much of a say in the matter - he'll be gone.

Failure=7-5 or worse and it's 90% likelihood that he's gone.

As far as attendance is concerned, think something like the USF game that ended Shannon's tenure. It says there were 41,000 people there, but it was closer to 30,000. Losing that game coupled with everything else imploding with Randy's job is what got him fired. The same concepts apply to Golden.

I really don't care who the coach is. I just want to win and other than the some units on the team, there's a lot of reasons to be optimistic. But this is the year he needs to get it done or pound sand.

No WAY we do better than 7-5. 7-5 and third in the Coastal should get a HC crucified like at the end of "Spartacus", BTW.

I see 606 or 5-7. If you thought you saw Golden teams quit every year 2011-2013, wait till the Labor Day Massacre, when we have 11 games left but NOTHING to play for.

2014 will make Shannon's 2010 season look like 2001.

Why is everyone so sure we will get destroyed week 1? What happened in the bowl game has nothing to do with this season. This is a completely different UL team.

I just don't understand all of these soft should post about a Labor Day Massacre.

Smokey - At worst, we're winning 8 games.

L'Ville--loss
FAMU--win
Ark. St.--win
Neb--Loss
Duke--Win
GT--Win
Cinn-- Win
VT--loss
UNC--win
FSU--loss
UV--win
Pitt--win

Question: we won 9 games last year but people tend to give more credit to the schedule then anything else. We have a tougher schedule this year so will you be satisfied with 9 wins this year?

why does everyone think L-ville is so unbeatable?

I'm calling it now, we win the Louisville game barring catastrophic injuries.

But just wait, plenty of guys will start talking about Doritos, etc etc etc. some of these posters have valid points, but too many guys want to be negative for the sake of being negative.

It may have something to do with the fact that we have a ****poor defense. And that Petrino is a known offensive guru.

It's not that Louisville is unbeatable.

It's that we can't stop anyone, and this guy will put on an offensive demonstration clinic.

I swear if I just went by what I saw on this site, I would think that Petrino was a top 3 coach is all of college football with multiple championships. He hasn't done much besides fielding above average teams with above average offenses, he's stepping into a "new" team, they are not going to drop 45 on us like some of you think. This isn't WKU and we aren't in the Sun Belt. They are not going to be an instant offensive juggernaut. Back to OP, barring a sub .500 season(not happening) there is zero chance Golden is fired. Sorry Golden haters but you can take that to the bank.
