How have we never won the ACC?

Well a lot of reasons. One is 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 drafts inflate these numbers greatly, and we weren't in the ACC then.

35 total draft picks
19 first round picks

We haven't had good enough QB play, we haven't had good enough WR's, and we haven't had enough quality DL for a good majority of those years. Overall though the administration neglected the football program from a resources standpoint for 20 plus years, and hired too many Head Coaches that weren't quality.

Our Head Coach salaries were typically middle of the pack in the ACC, and our facilities before NIL were severely below standard when that type of stuff was important. It led to uneven recruiting and talent acquisition. We didn't have a first round DL from Vince Wilfork all the way to Greg Rousseau.

We went from Andre Johnson to Phillip Dorsett in WR's drafted first round, and haven't had one in almost a decade.

We went from Dorsey to Kayaa in QB's drafted 7th round to 6th round.

OL is bizarre - I expected it to be BC or someone like that. Really didn't expect it to be us even considering the 2000-2003 teams. At the same time, the most dominant program in the conference in the last decade+ only had 1 OL drafted from the teams that won 2 national championships - and he didn't even play any snaps on either of those teams. They won it twice without a single NFL player starting on the OL.

what happens if we just look at the past 20 years (since UM was still big east in the early aughts)?
That's the big question. Don't know how Pick 6 compiled the data for the tweet. I just asked them.

I know we still had a ton of picks during the ACC era. Less first rounders but a lot of volume relative to the league. The big drop off happened during the Richt classes.

Don’t ask questions that you don’t want to know the answer to, lol. (Not you specifically D, but most people on this board don’t want to know the truth)

Since 2000? Our biggest draft picks were in the Big East! WTF does Sean Taylor and Winslow have to do with our ACC success?

Barring that, I think the issue is South Florida culture. It goes beyond Coker, Golden, Richt, etc. We couldn’t win with the greatest QB in the country nor blowout Iowa St in the Pop Tart.
There is still an expectation behind our logo that has not been met in multiple decades and the first sign of weakness, the fanbase and the team implodes.

Our day is coming (pause) my friend.

I think it’s incredibly understated how difficult it is to win football games. Which is why you have the same teams annually winning their respective conferences.

How?
-Refs
-Coaches
-Scheduling
-not paying enough under the table thus allowing Bama, OSU, Clemson, UGA, etc to take the best local talent
-Admin didn't want to invest in athletics

We could keep going on and on. Personally, I'm ready for a new conference.
