Honest question...

Not an unfair question but not until we saw someone with promise Perry, did we realize that the offense was more of a problem than we thought. The difference with Rosier is that we are convinced he cannot hit open receivers or throw accurately down field. Seen him suck too many times to give him benefit of doubt

I would have liked to see some adequate adjustments at halftime before benching the Freshman.

I think coming back against FSU earned us all that right.

I've posted the same stats in different threads. Numbers don't lie. Also, I think Perry's not playing over the last 2 years has to do more with off the field issues as opposed to ability. If Rosier had the same start as Perry vs UV - I can't imagine he'd be pulled that quickly. I think Perry popped off and that was it.
Rosier getting pulled after throwing 3 passes against FIU does nothing to support this absurd theory that Rick would rather lose with Malik than win with the immortal Stacks.

Here is my one issue with this Perry situation...

If he's that much of a problem, you boot him.
If he's not enough of a problem to boot him, I don't know why he's not playing.

You don't go back to Malik though. He's your break in case of emergency QB at that point, IMO. You go to Williams and let him figure it out. At least you will know by the end of the year if you need to go shopping in the dented can cart for a graduate transfer QB at that point.

I'm not sure we will really know why Richt pulled Perry but throwing two INTs isn't good. The bigger question is why didn't he put him back in.

As for last year, Perry was shirting. If they had the RS rule for '18 in '17, Perry plays in games.

UNC, tons of turnovers. Still would have liked to see a 70-10 score with Perry getting another 10 attempts. That just isn't CMRs style.

I'm not sure if Perry ever sees the field again at Miami. If there is a different reason for CMR to pull Perry besides 2 Ints then I can't see CMR putting him back in with Williams getting a ton of reps now.
He didn’t put him back in because he thought he was unprepared for or incapable of reading the different looks UVA was giving him. Putting him back in the game wouldn’t have solved that problem.

You guys need to quit looking for anti-N’Umbskulli theories and accept that he’s not a good fit right now. There’s film now. There’s scouting on him now.

These highly paid college coaches aren’t going to let him drop back and throw to his first predetermined read without trying to make him think that read is no longer there or bait him into going to a receiver he thinks will be open based on the initial pre-snap read.

All you have to do with an unprepared or non-thinking QB is change your look immediately pre or post snap. Slambuttsky did that to Testaverde in the Fiesta Bowl and fcked him harder than one of the neglected kids with bad haircuts that he rhythmically slapped.

There is scouting on Malik as well. Stack the box and make him throw. Watch the offense struggle for two to three quarters or the opposing teams defense gets tired... We have no good fit currently at QB.

Agreed.

Agreed.
Malik is bad. We all accept that.

But do you guys realize that to a football coach a QB not knowing where to go with the football or how to operate the offense is a bigger problem than a QB who knows what to do but can’t always get it done physically. It’s a bigger problem when your QB is clueless.

I agree.

The problem is, I believe Malik is more of the latter (he's clueless) than you're likely insinuating. Our offense is limited not only with what he can do physically, but mentally as well. He's just chucking it at this point. You can get the same from any QB. Put in the walk-on if you just want to chuck it to a deep post that Rosier can't hit anyway.

...and this is coming from a guy that was convinced...CONVINCED...Rosier would get at least slightly better as a senior. He's one of the few QBs I've seen that has gotten exponentially worse as a senior. Blows my mind how bad he is as a senior with a LOT of snaps under his belt.

Yep, I understand... But I think you’re inflating the level of cluelessness that Perry has, and probably conflating some of his on field issues with his off field antics. He’s a poor decision maker, but I doubt he’s completely clueless. He needs to wisen up, or get ready to transfer..

Malik is Malik... I can’t even call him Mr. consistency... But he plays with heart, and generally gets it. He’s the safest option we have currently, so we have to play him.

But we need better prospects at QB, we need the O line to shape up, and for play calling to get better.

Hoping to get some legit discussion going. It seems like Rick and son really started getting destroyed by us for our offensive failures after Perry took over. Fans are almost exclusively claiming that Perry’s struggles are a result of Rick’s busted offense, lousy play calling, and his son’s incompetence.

Prior to Perry taking over, most fans just talked about how much Malik sucked and how he was killing the offense almost singlehandedly. Malik has played in that same busted offense and failed too.

Why don’t the fans give Malik the same benefit of the doubt that they give Perry? If Rick is killing Perry with his busted offense and play calling, then why does everyone just say Malik sucks and not give him the same explanation for failure that they give Perry?

I said it right after the Virginia game, we would have won the game If Rosier had started. He's not a good QB but good enough to beat Virginia. he beat all the bad teams except one last year. He was 10 points down with 5 minute gone before he got in. I personally don't like much about Perry except he has a nice arm but he's very inaccurate. If we are starting Perry next year it's going to be a longer year than this one. Ric's play calling doesn't help that's for sure. At this point I really don't care if Williams isn't ready, get him in this next game, this season is on the verge of being shot now anyways. Williams needs to play stop saving him, it's getting out of hand now. Richt sure and **** better have a least one real good QB coming in this year. Bottom line Richt isn't doing his job, too much talent in South Florida, the kids still don't believe that's why they're going elsewhere. This is just my opinion...

Fair enough but Richt said he decided prior to the FIU game that Perry would come in around the 3rd series - regardless of malik's performance.

no dude, former players who have watched practice everyday in the summer and some of ht insiders on this site have said the same -- perry cant read a defense and lacks in game prep

The Virginia game left me wounded brother. Other than my football life I am well. How about you Justin? Are you still in town? I thought you were thinking about heading south.
We actually moved away man. We are on the East Coast now finishing up some business headed for an extremely early retirement (hopefully) and then heading out to Arizona where my wife grew up.

That 10 ft of snow on Christmas last year was the final straw man. Couldn’t take that **** anymore
