Homer and the draft

Players leave early now to become undrafted free agents, so anything is possible.
Homer isn't going to go undrafted if he leaves early. The NFL is trending towards backs like him. The days of a true work-horse back are done, that bodes well for Homer. Another thing with Homer that will appeal to NFL teams is he's a good special teams player so they know he'll make the 53 man roster. He'll be a 5th or 6th rounder in my opinion.

1). I have always been exponentially higher on Homer than Dallas, both as a college player and pro prospect.

2). Running backs have a shorter shelf life than most athletes, Frank Gore's deal with the devil aside. lol. So I fully expect Homer to leave after this season.

3). I see him being a day one draft pick. He'll run a sub 4.4 forty at the UM pro day and will have plenty of film of him both running hard and showing breakaway speed. In short, he runs the way NFL GM's like.

If I had to guess today, I'd say late 2nd round, 3rd at the latest.

That's not Day 1. Day 1 is the first round. That would be Day 2, and I think that's stretching it.

That being said, he will almost certainly be drafted based off his film and, more importantly, how he tests (which will be excellent). And if that's the case, especially as a RB, he should and will leave early.

Not a chance. Duke Johnson was drafted in the 3rd round with 10x's the resume. The knock against Duke was his size and perceived inability to take the regular pounding an NFL back takes. Duke was 5'9" 205 as a junior. Homer is 5'11" 195. He's smaller than Duke and hasn't shown the versatility that NFL teams need to see from a small running back. He plays hard and can break away when given a lane but backs like that are pretty common place in college football. He's not very patient and tends to run into the back of his offensive linemen too much. 6th rounder. Maybe 5th if he runs a super 40 time.

If anyone leaves early (aside from Joe Jack), they need to get their head checked.

He’s had problems holding onto the ball if you’ve watched games since 2016. No frickin chance he goes where you are saying but you are entitled to your own opinion so I’m gonna respect it even tho I think you are way off.

I could very well be wrong here, but I truly see Homer as a guy who NFL GM's will like.

If I were to call my shot completely, my guess is that Homer will be RATED as a 4th - 6th round guy by the television "gurus" but then you'll hear how he's moving up the charts after UM's pro day (and/or the combine). He'll go 2nd or 3rd round. That said, I have not evaluated the RB draft class, so my take is based on how I personally evaluate Homer as a pro prospect.

He needs to stay another year unless he wants to be like Kaaya and the others.

WalterFootball doesn't even have Homer in its list of Top 24 running back prospects for the 2019 Draft.

Not even in the Top 24.

Dude better stay in school.

Idk about day 1. Bama has really good backs and etienne out of Clemson has everything u want out of a RB to me. Plus, the 250lb rb out of Boston college is a legit freak of nature.

Lmfao @ homer going in the first two rounds ..... RB’s are a dime a dozen now a days anyway. That being said I think he gets drafted 5th or 6th round because he’s a special teams god and I still think the right coaching staff can turn him into a solid nfl Safety ( call me crazy if you want)

I do not see homer as a 10 year pro bowl back, but I think some people are undervaluing 1) what he is going to do in testing and 2) how much that will help his stock. I don't expect him to go in the first two rounds, but I definitely don't expect him to go undrafted. The kid was one of the better athletes in the country coming out of high school, he is going to look very good in a combine setting, and is going to climb draft boards as a result.

RB is the single worst position to draft guys at. Every weekend you see 20+ guys that all look and run exactly alike.

Because the NFL has a type they want. They aren't looking for a bunch of dancing around, they want a guy who makes his cut and heads upfield. In that regard, I think Homer will do well. They aren't looking for Barry Sanders, and honestly that makes sense. Everybody on the field is much faster these days, I'm not sure how long a guy like Sanders would last now or how successful he'd be. Don't get me wrong, that guy would always do well, but he's the exception.

That's more realistic. Not saying that Homer won't be drafted. But saying he'll be a 1st rounder because he runs fast and is tough is not realistic.

You are crazy

Better suited for another year honestly along with the other juniors but if he leaves you need a rb in this class. Need to have 5 solid backs for depth purposes but that won’t matter cuz the o line is pathetic.

If you are a running back and guaranteed to get drafted, you have no business returning to school. RB is THE ONLY exception. Guys like Mac (Health aside) and Norton had no business sniffing the NFL.

I love how Homer plays....but on draft day he'd better bring enough popcorn to make it through a couple of days.

When homer has room hes great. His vision is terrible. If you take away the fumbles I would take dallas over homer EVERY DAY.
