Hmmmm.... Very telling

So you're telling me if beat FSU we would have lost to UVA and Pitt? There's no way.

Lets be clear: We did NOT lose to UVA and Pitt because of the FSU game. We lost because al golden changed his defensive scheme back to his shell scheme.

The players realized it and gave an amount of effort that was commensurate with that bull**** scheme.

If golden ran the defensive scheme that he did against UVA and Pitt, then yes, we would have lost those games. If he would have continued to let his defense play aggressively (the way he did for the 3 games leading up to FSU) then yes, we would have won those games, without regard to the outcome of the FSU game.

I'm not defending Golden here. Sweet baby Jesus. He lost the **** team! How is that a ringing endorsement of Al Golden?
Unlike other years, we had FSU on the ropes. We were putting a hurting on them, and we ****ed it away. Last season was a heartbreaker of a loss, especially since it was the last chance to beat them for many of the team leaders.
The players have quit on golden every year he's been here and it's for so many reasons. To point to FSU and say we quit because of that game is dumb. Last season players were teetering on quitting many times before then. Same with all of Als previous seasons here.

A lot of teams had fsu on the ropes last year not just Miami. You would have a point if Miami were the only team to play them close but a bevy of teams did. Just face it, golden sucks. He's easily the worse coach of the modern Miami football era and an argument can made that he is the worst coach in Miami history by a wide margin.

Yawn. Your trying find ways to pump up the fool. Had he won the fsu game you think we beat spit? I say no. There's no evidence that suggest what you imply happens.

It's no **** secret this Cane fan wants us to win regardless of whom the flipping coach is. Wins are ALL I want.
Alright, I get that, I'm just saying we DOMINATED those teams, which I think are all as good as, or better, than the three teams we lost to. The turning point was the FSU loss. Unlike 2013 when we simply hadn't been tested going into FSU, we had been tested early and often going into the FSU game. We looked incredibly flat down the stretch, and it had nothing to do with the competition level increasing after FSU. We played all of our tough games before FSU. Again, that is why last season was a COMPLETE failure in my eyes. When we should have won out after FSU, we packed it in.

It's not the barely beat those teams. We whooped them. I can see the "win some, lose some" had we just scraped by. We destroyed VT and NC, especially. You don't destroy average teams, then look as horrible as we did three games in a row unless the team quit. They quit. That's on the coaching staff for losing the team. Had we beaten FSU, do you think we lose any of those games down the stretch? I think we could have, for sure, but I also think we see a **** of a lot more fire had we taken that step up and beaten FSU like we SHOULD HAVE.

The FSU was a turning point this year, big time.
I disagree with this if talking about last season. We beat BETTER teams than the teams we lost to after the FSU game. 2013, sure, we played cupcakes before FSU. That wasn't the case last year, as we ended the season with three VERY mediocre teams after FSU. That's why last season was such a failure, in my opinion. Had we won out after FSU, it would have been a decent step forward. Instead, we completely, COMPLETELY, packed it in. That was not the same team we saw against Cincy, Duke, VT or NC in our last three games.

while I agree that it looked like the team had packed it in, we are splitting hairs. VT, Cincy, and UNC were ****ty teams just like UVA and Pitt.

beat some ****ty teams, lose to some ****ty teams. thats what ****ty teams do

Looks like someone is secretly hoping Golden can still get it together when all the evidence suggest otherwise. There is no mailing it in after the fsu game this coaching is just plain garbage. Miami has good enough players for a better showing the coaching staff just sucks. Golden is the worst hc in Miami football history.

From what Ive seen from you that doesn't seem to be the case. Jmo

From what I've seen of you you're not too bright, and have a lack of reading comprehension.

Ok. What evidence do you have to suggest that if Miami beats fsu they beat spit, Virginia and wins its bowl game? Show me what I'm missing here

the problem I have with ThomasM is that he sounds like he thinks if Folden could just get over that hump (FSU), that he'd be a good coach.

the reality is that Alfraud is just a horrible football coach and horrible human being. if it wasnt FSU, it would be something else.

I love it when all of the board's rocket scientists get together and hypothesize about how we woulda won games if we hadnt lost a prior game.

brilliant

The games they lost before FSU were on the road vs actual decent teams (LVille,Nebraska and GTECH). If we beat FSU there is no way we lose any of those last 2 regular season games and I think we would have beat South Carolina. They quit because they had nothing to play for (The older guys). You can blame Golden as he should be held accountable, but it would not have mattered who was coaching that team after FSU, all 3 games would have been losses with any coach.

If you don't think that team quit after the FSU game you're crazy. I know we all hate Golden, but the entire program quit after that game.

and they already lost three games prior to the FSU game so you not making a point. they needed a miracle in order to win the coastal even before the FSU game.

cool story. how old are you?

I guess you think Grohlden should still be the coach since he really only lost the FSU game huh?

We are all dumber for having read this thread. Not only is there nothing telling but the rocket scientist that started it is actually trying to defend the worst coach in the history of the program.

ThomasM claimed golden was a real coach before he coached a down and makes excuses for him any chance he gets. He secretly thinks golden is Some great coach and hoped he gets over the hump. The reality is golden sucks and it was evident in 2011 but thomasm blamed Shannon's players lol

anyone that still has hope that Alfraud can turn this around is really really ******* dumb

Not telling at all. Every year we open up with cupcakes then as we play more competent teams we lose

Duke, Cincy, VT, and UNC were cupcakes. Yes they finished the season with an overall good record, but it was deceiving.

For example: Duke's wins came against Elon, Troy, Kansas, Tulane, UVA, Pitt, Wake Forest, and notable victory over GT. Their combined opponent's winning pct was .374

Cincy's wins came against Toledo, Miami (OH), SMU, USF, Tulane, USF, ECU, UCONN, Al Golden's Temple, and Houston. Their combined opponent's winning pct was .387

VT wins came against W & M, Western Michigan, UNC, Duke (who we already discussed), UVA, Cincy (who we already discussed), and a notable victory against a totally different OSU team than the one that won the NC. Since we already discussed Duke and UVA, W& M is a FCS school...Western Michigan is a borderline FCS school. That leaves us w/ UNC who went 6-7 on the year. OSU was an impressive victory, but they beat them before they gelled.

UNC was sub .500 so I don't need to list their schedule.

The point is, even the "good" teams we beat going by record alone, were weak! Every year before FSU, we beat teams that are bad, and lose to teams that are good. That's Golden's M.O. Even when we beat UF in 2013 while they were a top 15 team, they finished 4-8.

But but they weren't the same team in the end of the season bro!! We beat a fully healthy UF!!

So you are comparing Butch and Golden now? Two total differently ran programs from top to bottom

If you don't think that team quit after the FSU game you're crazy. I know we all hate Golden, but the entire program quit after that game.

Remember what happened when Butch Davis' team lost to Washington?

and i would be sh*tting in the woods if i were born a bear. save your hypotheticals. the team has shown nothing for any of you Goldenites to believe they wouldn't of lost the other games regardless of the FSU game. apparently you don't follow this team too closely or you know that we struggle against virginia and pitt every year under Golden. and road or at home a loss is a loss with two of them being conference losses. as in they were already pretty much out of the race and needed other coastal teams to lose in order to win the division.
