Here's what I know

Yep, both of them have their flaws. I just think Lanes ceiling at UM is higher. Honestly I'm not even putting into the equation that Lane could cause embarrassment to university. Most people already think that canes are trash/scum and regardless of whatever we do that will be their opinion. I've already heard how Lane would be a "good fit" (in a negative way) for Miami.

For me I've always been of the opinion that I want a coach that can take his players and beat yours and then turn around and take your players and beat his with them. I don't think Mario can do that unless he has the right people underneath him.
lane does something that we've seen translate at multiple places -- offense

One name that’s conspicuously absent in all these talks is Paul DiMare….just curious. I’m sure he’ll want someone that won’t fire his son.
He's stepped down considerably....he's just a BOT member....he's not a Vice Chair or Chairman anymore...

I agree we won't be bad Miami, but we won't be great either. Mario Cristobal can be our very own Jim Harbaugh. Good enough to break our hearts, but not good enough to gain our eternal love.
It's fair, and the truth is none of know how this will turn out. My problem is when people act like 2018 Cristobal is the same as 2021 Cristobal.

I don't want Cristobal because he's a recruiter with Miami ties. I want Cristobal because he's proven he can win the conference, win big games and win big-time recruiting battles.

This thread is comedy. You have the Mario posters going in on the Kiffin posters. Then you have the Kiffin posters arguing back why Kiffin deserves it more. Meanwhile, you have one dude off to the side barking about Hugh Freeze and neither side is listening to him
This is why this site is the best thing going. A bunch of dysfunctional loons that spend way too much time arguing with people they don’t know, but do know lol. Only here can you call somebody a stupid cack sucker and five minutes later you‘re arguing the same point, working as a well oiled tag team second to only the Rockin Roll Express.

Couldn't agree more. Some systems fit best in specific conferences. And we really need to air it out.

I do want to ask about Ponce though. What's your opinion of him? He's somebody I was totally against manny hiring and I don't think he's any kinda star OC or anything. Even now I'd prefer to get someone established in the P5. But having coached with Mario and having connections to south Florida, the names going to come up. So what's your opinion of him?
IMO would be a horrendous hire as an OC.

This offense is ready made to be lethal, Ponce has only been a play caller at the HS level & just recently became OC at App St, during his previous years at App under Satterfield he never called plays.

Miami needs a proven killer lab technician OC that can take the QB & all the weapons we have & turn them into a high octane machine. We don’t have time to be experimenting with OC’s, our identity is Passing to set up the run, any OC that’s coming here to try to transform us into a Run first team is just gonna make his job that much harder & set us behind the 8ball as a team.

We need to lean into our strengths offensively, not try to reinvent the wheel. You give the right OC TVD, Knighton, George, Key Smith, Brinson, Restrepo, B Smith, Mallory & Arroyo & he’ll turn it into a high powered productive unit.

That’s fair.

But I’ll say this, Mario has to ace the OC hire, if he doesn’t get that right he’s in for a long journey to rebuild Miami.
I want air raid/spread, nothing less. I want balls to the wall on offense after getting a glimpse of it this year. I think Mario with good coordinators could be great but Oregon is literally the most boring team I've watched all year so i completely agree on the OC hire.

FWIW, Butch had a similar problem outside of Dorsey.

His QBs were Kenny Kelly, Ethenic Sands, Derrick Crudup and TJ Prunty.

Those of us who were on the boards for Butch remember that the same (valid) criticisms of Mario were there with Butch.
that was one for the ages.

almost rivals Robert Marve, Taylor Cook, Cannon Smith, and Matt Perelli

You know Lane is salivating thinking of what he can do with those weapons.

Friends with strong ties to Lousville tells me Jurich would be a home run hire for Miami. He would change the entire program and athletics department. He's a straight bull dog, who'd clean house. They don't see it happening however because of possible pending litigation with the NCAA/FBI/Louisville/etc. within the next year to 18 months. They don't think Miami will want to have any part of that
I think the DOJ case has already shaken out. And I would assume the SOL have already run on civil suits (September 2021 marked 4 years since the indictment). If Jurich hasn't been named in the litigation, that ship has likely sailed.

And give that guy Alex Mirabal to coach his OL..........

This is exactly my view on Mario. I was not a fan of hiring him in 2018 b/c all I'd seen as a HC was FIU. He's won me over with the success they've had at Oregon.

Welp, they need to start ****ing...
You will not get me excited again so cribby can wake up at 3 am and ruin my night 😂😂
