Here's what I know

Reading the back and forth on this I just don’t really get who people assume is out there that is absolutely a perfect hire? Nick Saban and Urban Meyer aren’t looking for a job.

We should absolutely be ecstatic that we have a shot at a coach thats had multiple P5 conference championships and bowl wins.
I want someone that can win the ACC and that won’t lose to UVA, UNC, And Duke caliber teams on a yearly basis.

Mario is a decent HC and I think he could maybe win the ACC if the stars aligned but we would continue to drop games yearly to lesser squads.

I’m not asking for nattys. I’m asking to beat the teams we’re supposed to beat.

So now our standard now is "road games in conference?"

OK. I prefer "wins," "conference championships" and "Top 10 wins," but let's use that bizarre standard.

Lane Kiffin is 11-11 in conference road games at USC/Ole Miss. I assume that's your candidate based on your prior posts. Should we drop him?

There are a subset of fans that will never be happy.

@fincane is about to get manhandled by BaghdadD$.

Bingo.

"Utah started 1-2 and made a quarterback change to Cameron Rising that has paid off, all while playing with heavy hearts through the death of cornerback Aaron Lowe in late September. Utah will play for the Pac-12 championship, and Saturday showed that they’ll probably be favored to win it."
Nice try , the only team in cfb that’s gotten dramatically better is Ohio State. Only because it’s anti Mario. Utah is still the same trash pile they were at 1-2. So what they changed qb’s and have been rolling. Also there’s no credit for the road win at Osu. Different team bro.

The amount of flip flopping on arguments to fit narratives has gotten crazy. I’m even doing it now. I literally used a anti lane argument thirty minutes ago that I argued against weeks ago. It’s time to get away from the board.

I'm a Lane fan but these are simply concrete facts.

IMO would be a horrendous hire as an OC.

This offense is ready made to be lethal, Ponce has only been a play caller at the HS level & just recently became OC at App St, during his previous years at App under Satterfield he never called plays.

Miami needs a proven killer lab technician OC that can take the QB & all the weapons we have & turn them into a high octane machine. We don’t have time to be experimenting with OC’s, our identity is Passing to set up the run, any OC that’s coming here to try to transform us into a Run first team is just gonna make his job that much harder & set us behind the 8ball as a team.

We need to lean into our strengths offensively, not try to reinvent the wheel. You give the right OC TVD, Knighton, George, Key Smith, Brinson, Restrepo, B Smith, Mallory & Arroyo & he’ll turn it into a high powered productive unit.
**** we've seen what a pass first QB can do for this offense. it made Lashlee look like a version we thought we were getting. it also made us get close to the numbers we thought wed see in year 2 under Rhett. you also see the skill talent we have here and how its more than enough to win this conference.

IMO Lane, Herman & Freeze are all interchangeable.

That’s why I’ve tried to explain a million times over in these threads it’s not Mario vs anti-Mario for me...

It’s one Philosophy vs another. The problem is, the moment you ask a question or even consider another possibility people immediately go into defense mode & make it as if you hate Mario, that’s where all the conflict is coming from.

You're rational and intelligent. That is far from the norm in these threads. You have people, many of them, saying they would not be happy if the University of Miami hired Mario Cristobal. They don't have any alternate suggestions, just say, "Nope. Mario is a no. He lost to Utah. He's not a great schematic advantage." Huh!? What planet are we on? How can any human being on this board look at what we are, where we've been, and not think that Mario Cristobal would be a gigantic upgrade?

Full disclosure, I'd dance a ******* jig if it's Lane too. I'm just happy if we're actually in the arena to hire coaches like this. So if you think Lane or Herman would be better, I will listen and respect your opinion. But if you just flat say "no" to Mario Cristobal.....I just can't help you.

Mario has signed 4 blue-chip QBs since he's been there, so it is more of an evaluation than recruiting issue.

It's a weird position. Butch was the best evaluator ever but missed on most of his QBs. Manny has rebuilt our QB room despite no real background or special recruiting skill.

I like that we already have guys to ease Mario's transition. Of course, he would need to eventually start signing/developing his own QBs.
If Zo is coming in for that scouting/football ops role, this is part of where he could and would add value?

Steve Sark might be available by next year

Is that what makes Zach Kittley such an attractive OC? What he's done with Bailey Zappe this year is nothing short of amazing.

Does Mario have the pass first mentality? Doesn't sound like the mentality of a former olineman as your HC
