Here's what I know

Thank you for saying it out loud, literally thought the same thing. Utah is a really physical football team, maybe not win by 14 but they would've faired well in the ACC.

the team Utah is now in November, isn't the one from Sept

Teams are allowed to get better(or worse). They are now rolling with their new QB(who didnt start off the year)

I have no idea if Lashlee or UM is interested in that kind of scenario where he stays on

I do know this -- TVD is the type of player that can make coaching careers/opportunities for their coordinators
Lashlee gets WAY too much credit. His “scheme” is simple and predictable. What we are seeing is what happens when superior athletes are allowed to spread the field and have a top tier QB throwing the ball.

Funny how Van Dyke has made Lashlee a genius all of a sudden. I can’t wait to see how TVD looks with a competent OC that knows how to develop a running game and understands that play action requires ummmm actually looking like you might run?

Lashlee ANNOUNCES when a run is happening. “Here son, hold the ball WAY OUT HERE” and then he calls a “play action” that provides a fake by the QB that would make Dan Marino blush.

And before anyone tries to defend him…the mechanics of hand offs and play action were EXACTLY the same with King as they are with Van Dyke. Lashlee coaches it that way. He is total trash and Van Dyke has put lipstick on him. Just watch how TVD looks with competent coaching if/when we hire a real OC and not someone running a gimmick from a decade ago.

This is Miami, all of you should know Jurichs past is the hold up. There’s older Bot members concerned about that and other issues that happened on his watch while at UL. That’s the same reason some folks have doubts about Miami hiring Lane. There’s members that worry about the image of the program and are nervous about hiring anyone with some checkered pasts. The other group wants Jurich, most of those pushing for him are the same ones taking the program to the next level. That should tell you what group is pushing for the same ole typical hire.
This is what drives me nuts. The past is so far removed from today. 30 years man. Get over it already. We have been politically correct for 30 years and it’s turned us into a dumpster fire.

These old time bot guys need to realize we are not talking about Pell grants anymore. Every program takes it as far as they can or gets left in the dust. I’m not advocating for miami to start dropping bags and stuff I’m saying it’s 2021 and you either get with the times or fold up shop

Hire Jurich already and let him run the place. Let him hire who he thinks is best whether it’s Mario or not.

I almost feel like we are so scared the media and ncaa will come after us the boy curl up in a corner sucking thumbs together.

Thanks for the info Cribby. Your he best man.

talking about dominant classes like UGA and Bama, thats possible at UM people think it isnt. U get the right guy he can do it. I want to dominate years down the road not be UCF and lose to more talented squads. I want us to be more talented and body dudes. U recruit the way u recruit, people say win and they come thats cap.........Mullen won enough and no one went there lol.
We bring in Cristobal we'll be losing to less talented squads.

EYE think (just me don’t care about anyone else’s opinion) both lane & Mario come with the same amount of issues each from a different type of angle. Both could work, both could go wrong.. but that’s just reality with anything right? For y’all trying to parade one over the other you’re probably lying to yourself

I feel like Mario would go to a more uptempo spread. He’s getting a different type of athlete at Miami vs Oregon. He’ll adapt just fine. I’d imagine Highsmith feels the same way.
Mario was with Saban who recruits the same skill guys. He will get an OC that runs something similar to Bama.

Go ask Bama people why Saban finally just said “ F it “ with Lane , even though there was a championship season still on the line. This dude has a lot of baggage. But there’s a chance he could hit it big for the first time in his life.
There are very few coaches that actually like working for saban so that's not saying much. He's not the best boss to work for..... But he does get results. No one is surprised that their personalities clashed among other things.

Uptempo spread was Oregon’s entire identity for a decade plus. He knew that was successful for them.

He completely went away from it. Why would he all of a sudden be open to an uptempo spread at Miami?

That also happened.
I think that was what Saban and Lane's issues stemmed from. Once that info leaked there was no coexisting between the two. There was also a little bit of differences in coaching philosophy, as Lane is the one that introduced modern offense to Bama. Seemed to me like it took some getting used to on Coach Saban's part.

Can we just combine the two? Lol

This convo is more nuanced than people are trying to make it but everybody really sounds crazy if you ask me lol

Yea but admitting Mario is an above-average coach today, with flaws and an opportunity to get better in his still young career. Where's the fun in that?

So, a bunch of people that grew up in the same circles pushing someone from the same circles for a job. Yep, sounds like Miami. Mario is qualified, but he isn't my first choice. I want some fresh perspectives, not a bunch of people jerking off talking about how Miami used to be. That is why I want Jurich as an AD. He isn't loyal or tied to the old guard, he can do whatever he wants. Same with Lane. No ties. Just win. Get me those people.

If Lane looked like Larry Coker, no one here would want him. Lots of undercover man crushes driving opinion here.

that's a VERY interesting comment... honestly, I dont disagree (and I wouldn't mind Lane as our coach, either)

By hiring expensive head coaches from Top 10 programs?

I'd say you're missing the point, but I doubt you are. Regardless of the expense and what school the new coach is from, there's a right way and wrong way to conduct a search. You want to conduct the search in a manner that gives you the best odds of success. Going after one guy without fully evaluating all candidates is not that. That's fact that's not debatable.
