Here's what I know on Mark Matthews...

Good stuff

Center I think will just be portal and I think that’s actually a good thing

As good as our OL coaching and recruiting it’s still a crap shoot getting a true center. SJ is shockingly small. Maybe he turns into something maybe not, but Mario will just land another OL Quarterback in the portal I see no need to worry about that either

We can pretty much get any center we want in the portal we’ve proven that

Just keep recruiting these freaks of nature to move around tackle and guard and it’s all good
Yeah Guard given the bodies and talent we accumulate, I genuinely think will never be an issue. Its the type of position that is simply the easiest to fill and given our overall OL recruiting and coaching is just never going to be a real issue. A question entering the year? Sure. Like ultimately Buchanan we don't actually know if he's going to be good/great. But I have zero worries now or going forward.

Center like you said we've proven portal success there. Also I'd point out that Center is likely the cheapest Portal position on offense? And the type of guys who play center usually are the smartest in the room types given all the calls they usually have to make. And the build requirements are substantially less than any other OLine position. Anyone 6'5" or less, who is smart and quick can have success. That's why I view Center as the ONLY possible position SJ could ever play here. Genuinely don't know why he is receiving any snaps at guard. If he ever actually plays Guard in an important moment I'd truly be shocked. And then I just don't see Woodrow/Sparks being ready next yr. Maybe not even the year after either tbh. I continue to think Buchanan would be VERY Interesting at Center. Obviously if SJ stepped up at Center and Buchanan stuck at Guard that'd be great. But I can really see this yr the best ol having Buchanan at Center with Meriweather/Congdon/whoever at RG...

But like next yr if we had:
LT: Cantwell
LG: Congdon / Pickett
C: Buchanan or SJ / Woodrow or Sparks
RG: Buchanan or Meriweather / Ervin
RT: Samson / Wilkerson or Meriweather or Hawks

And in 28 you have open competition at RT between Wilkerson/Congdon/Ervin/Hawks.... Loser plays Guard (or portals if Wilkerson)
David lake seems to be high on Wilkerson too as he projected him as starting RT in 27. Curious to see how the OL as a whole plays and develops this year. It’ll be telling who the 6/7th OL is on those goal line packages. Last year it was Rodriguez and Samson/McCoy. Whoever it is this year, safe to assume will be in line to start next year

Also not for nothing but seems like the whole Elko vs Mario thing that gained some traction after we beat them is legit

Yes A&M is gunning for the #1 class but I think these two genuinely dislike eachother

Or maybe Elko being in his 37th trimester is just messing with his hormones

TrumpyCane can't believe he played safety in college

He got so fat

Yeah last couple years we’ve heard some things about some of the under the radar tackles. Some have left. Minaya is another one. He had two strong springs from what I heard

We’ve had a lot of attrition at OL but I think that’s to be expected. As good as these guys are, it’s just tough

I suspect it goes back to that 45-21 Duke win back in 2022. Mario in his first year here, Elko in his first year at Duke. Duke players were literally doing a conga line in the locker room after the win and the video got around.

I expect Mario was not pleased, and it showed the next time we played an Elko-coached team (we didn't play Duke in 2023, and he was at TAMU in 2024).

I get it

I’d be pretty upset if I haven’t seen my **** since the Clinton administration as well

Will preface this by saying TrumpyCane thinks A&M is the pick but to play devil's advocate are there any signs he will pick the good guys

1. Witlong has already hedged a little bit
2. Had plenty of chances to already commit to A&M
3. Believe we are the only school with an OV set for May 29th, which is our biggest OV weekend?

Yeah thats all TrumpyCane got
It would break the internet if he chose us and TAMU fans would have legendary tears.

If he doesn’t come here we still eating good. Pause

He probably will get fired in two more years. Their expectations are unrealistic

Pre-Mario, I could see the meltdown over a player going elsewhere. We were chasing after that elusive tenth win. Now, a single player going elsewhere isn't the difference between success or failure. Just enjoy what we have and realize the people that do choose us are going to work their asses off to win.

Every year since Mario took over the board obsesses over a few names and lives or dies by those names

All I know for sure is Mario’s recruiting board is significantly bigger than our brains can comprehend

Justin Scott committed to OSU. Cantwell was headed to Oregon or UGA. Lightfoot was OSU. Lowe was committed to USC. Blount flipped to FSU. Toney reclassified and was headed elsewhere. **** we just took a 5 star DB from Cali committed to UGA. Anyone have him on our board?

I get NIL deals change the game but we are playing for a natty again this year it’ll work out
Preach!

Exactly! And going off of your comment, we dont have to over spend on these kids either because of what you mentioned in your comment. I want the kids that want to be here without any doubts and bleed orange and green. Mario put us in a position that we can be picky and focus on them.
