Here's what I know on Mark Matthews...

There will be great OL next year just like there was this year,last year and every year for the last ______( (fill in the blank) years.

If we are as good as expected this year and our OL looks like it should we won’t have any problem attracting top OL to come here who look to be developed and see that Miami is the best place for that. If this kid doesn’t want to be here and would rather go somewhere else where a big bag now is more important than being developed to get money that will make the money you are getting now look like pocket change then let him go.

If there’s one position I trust Mario to always have us stocked with top end players it’s the OL.

It is common knowledge that Cantwell is going to be our LT for the next 3 years. kids who are highly rated no they won't have a shot at LT until he leaves. that affects decisions. thats they money position on the OL.

The kid has never played LT in HS from what I’ve read and if I’m wrong then I apologize so I’d think he needs to be taught to play the position no matter where he goes

I guess that goes to the story of telling these kids whatever it takes to get them signed then they find out it was BS when they get there because I can’t believe they will put him at LT if he’s not ready so maybe we can get him in the portal…lol

He plays day 1 here or there doesn't matter imo, and in year 3 you move him to LT. I think TAMU has just done a better job building a relationship. Tbh we are the best offer on the table and he knows that he will play day 1 as well. Just got to give TAMU credit for getting it done unless he shocks everyone and chooses us.

Mario can be too honest sometimes. it's also what kinds and parents love about him. he doesn't BS.

To clarify, someone tagged me asking me to celebrate in negativity. And all I said was I had already told you guys about this situation to not get your hopes up. I wasn’t looking for a pat on the back. I was just saying I had already given my stance. If that upsets you, sounds like a personal problem.

We had two tackles drafted a few weeks ago....Francis and Bell. Utah also had two tackles drafted....Fano and some other dude. In BOTH cases, the RIGHT tackles were drafted before the left tackles.

Also, have you heard of Penei Sewell? He play(ed) RIGHT tackle for the Detroit Lions. Drafted high. He's moving to Left tackle now to both fill a gap from Taylor Decker leaving and because the Lions drafted in the first round....another RIGHT tackle.

The left tackle narrative just isn't true anymore.

Do transfers play on the team?
We have 1 transfer DLineman starting this yr and had 1* last yr. Mesidor I wouldn’t even really consider a transfer for these purposes given he was here 3 yrs… and Blay didn’t start the full season.
 
This sucks. No way around it.

But I’ll judge this miss by what happens next. If we can reallocate the Matthews money toward other big-time recruits, especially on the DL, we’re fine.

If not, ouch.

Right now, this just isn’t an elite trench class. Let’s see where it lands.

Pretty much every single STA OL has sucked. Matthews will probably be the one who doesn't with our luck
