Here's what I know on Mark Matthews...

I know it’s hard to fathom but some of these kids who spent their whole life here wanna experience something different. I was playing hoops with a 4 star recruit who committed to us then decomitted and when we asked why he wasn’t coming here he in so many words said Miami is cool but he wanted to experience something different. His said his preferred school was Bama but he was **** near willing to go to a lesser program just to leave Miami.

Look, I was on that train 4-5 weeks ago. I actually believed he may have actually wanted to experience something different. However, after seeing how the last 2 weeks has played out, all signs point to bag chasing. I'm just not falling for it this time

At the end of the day, we will be more than fine. Once Friday hits, we can all move on for good and start reeling in some studs on the Dline

Anyone who says this looks real bad should answer what more they think one of the best o line developing staffs that clearly prioritized recruiting him could do? Why does it look bad on the staff that he would rather go to a school that’s bringing in 3 other players at the same position? You can only do so much, and we will be fine with or without the kid

I mean we have Cantwell for the next 3 seasons so we’re set at LT. I think Joel Ervin or Ben Congdon will be the eventual RT. Those dudes are beasts.

Some people just want to get away from the only place they've known their whole life man. Occam's razor - you guys are overcomplicating this. Stop trying to make it into a more complex decision than it needs to be. He just doesn't want to be here, and that's fine.

Mario will find someone else that does and we'll be fine. If this was any other position group I'd have more heartburn over it. But any OL that sees what Mario and Mirabal are doing here and don't want to be a part of it is a red flag in and of itself.

Do we think EJ putting out the article had an impact with TAMU upping the pressure to get Matthews to commit now? If I remember correctly, him posting info early got him in trouble with the Michigan brass/ fans for exactly that.

I don’t want to seem like I’m GLOATING (i’m not) but this was my 3rd comment after the EJ article dropped.

I'm sure one of these dudes on here is his PR manager & can give you the Souf Flowrida azzkisser version as to why he doesn't wanna come here. But quite frankly Idgaf.

Mario & Mirabal just sent our starting RT to the league at the #10 spot, then followed that up with landing the #1 ranked OT in the Nation for the 26 class & will be starting him at LT as a True Frosh.

There are very few on the board who are more skeptical & have their own opinions regardless of the circumstances than me, and I've repeatedly said that OL is not & will not be an issue under Mario, doesn't matter who signs here or not.

I said it earlier in this thread & I'll say it again, Miami is at the very top of the totem pole when it comes to OL development. It's Miami, Oklahoma, Iowa & Notre Dame, everybody is getting in where they fit in.

If an OL particularly an OT, doesn't wanna play for Mario/Mirabal, it's on him, not us. It's not a loss, or a miss, or anything of that nature. It's simply a primadonna who wants rose petals thrown at his feet, but unfortunately that's not the makeup of this program anymore. We're no longer desperate.

We will win & thrive without players like this.

If people wanna wash his balls just because he goes to STA, just let them.

I agree with what a lot on here have said. He’s just bag chasing and driving up the bids. At some point it becomes a turn off and I don’t really care if they come here. Roll with us or get ran over. Good luck to him if he has to face our defense in a future playoff game. He will need it.

Listen what Mark is doing is the EXACT reason why Mario recruiting nationally was always the key to Canes resurgence.

Assuming Donte signs, that would be SIX 5-stars signed within the past 5 years (2023-2027) who are NOT from Florida.

To put that into perspective, the 15 classes before Mario arrived (2008-2022) the Canes signed just TWO. With the last being Hendo in 2010.

Yep its impossible for some here to believe but its a real thing..They are projecting their own thoughts on the kid tryna convince themselves that Miami isnt willing to pay for Mark Matthews the #1 OT in America SMH..
