Here Y’all Go Lol

I don't agree with that at all. Manny should have been begging Highsmith to come. Blake James is the guy whose power was being reduced. Manny's job is to coach, and Highsmith would have helped him in so many ways. If Manny doesn't realize yet that a weak, clueless AD is not conducive to a strong FB program, he's not as smart as his supporters claim.

Can't say if I were a coach I would want to be under that kind of scrutiny and second guessing on every aspect of my program. That I can see as a potential threat. Who would have last word on coaching hires and who to recruit? Sounds like Highsmith wanted a lot of power. But the BOT or President should be responsible for the AD, not the football coach. Manny might agree Blake is weak but there is not much he can do about it.

I think you're thinking about it wrong and if Manny shares your view, he's not a winner or good professional. He should want the support. Major programs have ADs who know what they're doing. They hire the coaches. Coaches who prove their mettle sufficiently eventually become their own power center, but it doesn't start that way. And major programs need football infrastructure that works. Highsmith was interested in effectively being the AD for football. That's the point of the power and job. It's a disaster for Manny and UM football that there's a weak and bad AD. If Manny gets scared by having someone who can call BS on him, then he's not trying to win or improve himself. IMO.

Y’all reading into coach speak lol. Hilarious. He literally said nothing.
I’m amazed at how many people hear whatever they want to hear, purely based off a narrative they’ve built in their own mind. It’s kinda scary.
It would be naive to think he would say it before bowl game and in interview yes, but Blake is still in over his head, incompetent, incapable of making in game adjustments, and stealing a paycheck. Which you know. So no matter how people want to spin it, it needs to happen and like you've said before changes should be coming so lets hope they're the right ones! Thanks for all the free smoke boss

Manure will tell us if he's truly interested in being the long term HC here depending on what he does with the D this offseason. If he doesn't turn it over to an autonomous guy like Marcus Freeman, then he's more interested in his ego than he is in winning here.

It's easy for him to can an offensive staff he barely even knew. Canning your buddies is a completely different game. Not only would he be greasing his sons, but he'd be acknowledging that his D needs to be changed. That takes a lot of guts and smarts and subjugation of ego. Does he have that sort of self-awareness and ability to be honest with himself? We shall see.
Spot on analysis!

Well, that was definitely a warning shot for the fans that ‘something is coming’. Doesn’t make sense to can Baker before the bowl game, but this will do two things:

1. Force Baker to do everything in his will and power to get this D ready to play like savages against OSU. I think he’s gone, but it’s his last ditch effort.

2. Force the players to show their allegiance. If they love Baker, they will give 200% effort to help save his job. If they play like dog****, then it tells you how the players feel about him.

Any player who would humiliate himself by giving crap effort and getting his *** handed to him on the field, ain't a player we need.

Totally hear you, but in all honesty that means that most of the players we’ve had over the last 15 years shouldn’t have been a Cane. Because there have been countless instances of guys not giving a &hit at all.

The results of the past 15 years are consistent with your observation. Definitely not tryna throw stones but a team that quits for whatever reason, that team ain't tough and ain't winning.

Pleasantly surprised by how experienced the offensive staff was when Mandy made his last big moves...

Lets hope he can make moar astute hires on the defensive side this time...

Three former defense of coordinators with youth and success would be a nice step up from guys who have been learning on the job since Diaz was originally hired..
