Herbstreit on Michael Jackson

Our production out of the defensive backs has gotten exponentially better once Delaney went down with an injury and we were forced to run with Jackson, Young, and Bandy full time for extended periods. Dean shouldn't even see the field right now...thats how far behind he looks in comparison. Jackson, Young, and Bandy play with some swagger that the other two simply lack and it shows on the field. They beat WRs up, too. Play physical football and their technique is so good, they aren't getting called for PI very often.

The physical nature of this Diaz defense can not be understated and it extends to the DBs.

I don't think it was delaney going down. It was Manny getting out of base d and into nickel with an extra db on the field. That plus glueing Knowles a$$ to the bench is what has made our pass d excellent.

This.

So happy to see MJ develop. He deserves the accolades, but hope he continues to live up to the higher expectations.

Its a true statement though. No hyperbole.

He doesn't really get beat and he's an SEC type corner with the way he tackles everything in front of him. He's having an excellent season.

what the f is an sec type corner??...

Stop sayin this stupid sh*t....thi s is UM we routinely have better players than teams in the sec.

SEC corners come up and tackle.

Also, in the past decade, Miami's had two corners worth a ****...Artie Burns and Corn Elder. Maybe Brandon Harris, but he peaked as a sophomore. Sam Shields didn't develop until he was a pro. This isn't 2002, brother. We've got good players, but we don't have wave after wave of first round picks anymore. Its ok to understand there is talent elsewhere.

SEC corners huh???...... Oh you mean like the ones that play on that one SEC team....what was the name......oh the gators!!!! .....like their corners?.... No thanks...ill take a pass!!

Im so glad we have him for another year. We are going to have the best secondary in the country next season. Probably would have the best cbs in the country this year if Dee Delaney can get back on the field.

im not sure dean is bad. i think he just got overexcited at a chance to make a play.

That deflection he had where they tried hi deep was textbook! Dude is 200 pounds 6'1 and can run!!! Glad that kid is putting it all together. Confidence is so important to how you will play. He's playing supremely confident right now!

He's a junior so he can leave if he wants

A few months ago who would have ever thought you'd hear an announcer utter these words:

"Michael Jackson is one of the best cornerbacks in the country."
"How did Alabama let Michael Jackson get out of the state?"

Both said by Herbstreit tonight. Amazing the season this guy is having.

Too busy recruiting nationally.

Kid is long, strong and balls.

Downvoted for saying SEC corner. He's a Miami type corner.

My bad meant to up vote. Cant stand the sec **** suckas. For what ever reason these so called Canes fans forget that the sec, fsu and cfb in general started modeling their programs after UM. We are the originators of the sec recruiting strategy.

Delaney going down allowed for more playing time to the younger players, who all have excelled. Removing Knowles but also getting Bandy in (in, as you said, nickel D) is a driving force, but again, I'm not sure the youth gets adequate burn if Delaney stays healthy...Bandy wasn't playing a ton early in the year...do we go to nickel with all of the young CBs if we don't see them get extended time? idk.

You're right, I really should...my Miami Hurricanes growing up featured the hulking Rodney Bellinger and Ronnie Lippett. My bad. Across from Ryan McNeil was the pro archetype Dexter Seigler. You right you right. Definitely the MODEL for modern day defensive backs.

Cool.
