HarRumph

When Golden took over for Shannon, he had to bring in Mike Williams, a grad transfer from Wake. When Richt took over for Golden, he had to bring in Adrian Colbert. They left the cupboards bare.

Right now, we have six four-star corners. One junior, two sophomores and three freshmen. The depth chart is healthy. The production is Top 10 and the player development is plain to see. The whining about Rumph is out of sync with what's happening on the field.

You’re still not really addressing the point that I and others are making.

At best you’re saying Rumph does all of these other things really well that mitigate the point we are making.

There can be a middle ground. The cb room is talented & he’s developing them but he needs to stop missing on so many targets

What is your point? That Rumph has not proven to be an elite recruiter? Nobody really debates that.

He is competent enough at recruiting to keep us stocked with four-stars at the position, which isn't a given based on recent history. And he coaches them up. The end result is that we are getting great production at corner and should continue to for the foreseeable future.

People expected Rumph to be a recruiter because he was a young, black high school coach with no experience. Most people expected his recruiting to be ahead of his coaching. But the reverse has been true. At the end of the day, the on-field results speak for themselves.

If Blades and Ivey prove to be too slow, and our pass defense drops off considerably, then we can talk about the lost battles. But that has not happened.

You say nobody disputes that? Read the thread. Brock certainly disputes it, and he's who much of the dialogue has been with. So yes, were having a conversation with posters who believe that Mike Rumph has recruited well, and his whiffs at signing the most elite of SoFl's CB recruits has been solely a function of forces beyond his control. Mike Rumph disagrees with Brock and similar minded posters, which is what the conversation is about.

Mike Rumph seems to be a very good CB coach. I don't see a lot of conversation disputing that.

Mike Rumph has also per his own words: (a) evaluated his recruiting as being "not at the level expected for a Hurricanes coach", (b) reached out to his fellow Hurricane coaches for some guidance, and (c) availed himself of psychological counseling at UM. Mike Rumph thinks there's a reason he should be doing those things. Some of us agree with him. That's what the discussion is about. Hard to understand why that's so unreasonable given the same opinion is shared by him.

Again, our critiques are consistent with Mike Rumph's self-evaluation. Your take on the adequacy of Mike Rumph's recruiting is inconsistent with Mike Rumph's self-evaluation.
