Gus Edwards teaser

I think the combination of Gus and Yearby will have better production from that position than we have had in a few years.

Gus should be a FB...he is fast but still runs like he has an ironing board strapped to his back..

He is 6'2 235 how else he is supposed to run?

ask Adrian Peterson

He is 15-20 pounds bigger and a inch taller than Ap and he still runs a 4.49-4.5. And in comparison, Yeah sure Duke had more acceleration then him but he wasn't much faster than him by any mean if at all

of course it was sarcasm Adrian is a big back that runs like a cat as was Erick ****erson...

I like Gus a lot and think if he had to could carry the ball 20+ times for us....I just don't see how coley will use him correctly, he could be a weapon for sure

both ****erson and adrian run high. i can't think of a taller back who runs with that low of a pad level. it would compromise their speed

What was his YPC average last year?

5.7

but his stats were a mess with 2 carries against ARKy at for 38 yards

His 2 best games were VT and Cincy...he carried the rock very well and had 31 carries in this two games..

If you can't make the first guy miss you are a $hitty RB.

Point blank.

Denzel Perryman says he agrees with that sentiment.

Doubt there will be any feature back unless Walton emerges or Yearby takes another step. I'm fine with a committee.

Gus is a great guy to have as a backup - grind the opposing defense with a physical style. But as a starter? Not yet imo

I think Gus will be the starter, but it'll be a pretty even split in carries between him and Yearby.

Talent level wise my comparisons would be Gus = Damien Berry, Yearby = Graig Cooper.

Good RB's, but not "special"

If Gus could run like this against every team UM plays this year than Miami will have a great 2015 season.

I find it funny how people write this kid off. He played in NY where he was the biggest, fastest, and best player on the field most days. He didn't need to run with low pad level. He's gotten better since he has been here and starting with the VT game last year he started to run angry and with a purpose. At one point in time last year he was demoted behind Yearby and I believe that served as a motivator for him. I think he's going to be a very good back and will be this year. He has speed, feet, PATIENCE, and vision. If he continue to run violent he will have a good year, but I don't get the hate on him by everyone here. Stop being so **** miserable and open your eyes. The kid has gotten better each year.

Also in this clip look at the block by Coley. He takes out 2 people and gives Gus the edge. Everyone complains about Herb and why he doesn't play more, but if it wasn't for Coley getting up off the ground quickly and chipping Herb's guy then Gus is tackled for a gain of 10. Herb does this a lot I feel and that's why he doesn't play more.

Im predicting 2 RBs with 800+ yards (Gus & Yearby, only if Yearby isn't suspended) and Walton with 400-500 yards and possibly more if Joe is suspended.

Gotta run it a lot to protect the defense

A 40 yard run against 2nd string AAC players, and he had 20 yards against VT in the first half, Vt fumbled three times to start the second half, and then Gus got his yards against mostly 2nd string VT players that had already quit.

People aren't all saying he is terrible, but there have been people on here comparing him to Todd Gurley, or using a YPC stat based mostly on garbage time runs. so that's were some of the criticism comes from. It is more directed at delusional fans than at Gus. The Damien Berry comparison is a good one.

People saying Gus Edwards isn't explosive are clueless. The ultimate test of being explosive is a power clean.. and he power cleans 360+. That is ridiculous. I saw great strides from his freshman to sophomore years and if he keeps getting better he is going to be fine.

Being a 230 lb RB is tough enough on a defense. Being 230 lbs with a legitimate QB that the defense has to focus on makes it that much tougher. And with good speed and wiggle already he is going to be that much better. He just needs to add the power running game he should already have at his size and he is going to be really good. It shouldn't be that hard to make the adjustment and we saw improvements last year.

Believe what you want but he is the most talented back on our roster as a combination of speed strength and size...... Has he put it all together yet? No..Freshman year he was laughable, Last year he improved ten fold... If your saying he didnt break tackles last year and show power your just not looking. Are we spoiled at RB? YEs we are?Thats why your acting like ****gots..Im one of the bleakest dude on here and I can see he has talent. Walton and Yearby aint the answer... So Im all in on Gus the Bus by default

Don't be bleak. The coaches will get him where he needs to be.

Put me in the category that says if he is our feature back this fall, its going to be a loooooooong season.

Ive never seen anything from Gus Edwards that would lead me to believe he can be a productive every down back; No explosiveness, no real ability to break tackles.

Maybe Im trippin but didnt that clip just show him break 5-6 tackles in 3 different runs?
