I don't know why they're only coming to light now but apparently they were unearthed during the NFL's investigation of Dan Snyder and the Redskins. Gruden (then at ESPN) was communicating with Bruce Allen at the Redskins.

Difference between texts and EMAILS. Then again, I don't text people using that kind of language, so maybe I'm weird. I definitely wouldn't send emails to ANYONE using that language, especially someone that is a colleague at work or in the same industry.

The sad part is that these meatheads think that refusing to hire someone that obviously has a problem with minorities, to lead a team made up mostly of MINORITIES is sign of softness. Amazing how expecting leaders to behave with a base level of human decency is somehow a problem. I didn't think Gruden was that kind of guy, but you never know.
