Great Single Season Performance Nominations

I like all of these. Add Morgan and it's complete for my era. Never saw Hendricks play. Barrow 1992 great call. Stepped up all season. Stonewalling Richie Anderson on 4th and goal against Penn St is a forgotten HUGE play that season.

Go Canes!

yes Dan Morgan in 2000 was the most decorated single season for any defender in UM history. Bad omission from me..

it was a weird fall from grace. @Brooklyndee what was the story there if you don't mind sharing? randy doghouse?
It wasn't a fall from grace exactly. Onions thing was promises. He'd promise the world. But other than for the boys from the west he never came through. Greg situation was all the promises from c.c. cause at the time we had a crew. Difference between Greg and everyone else was Greg wasn't bout the ***** and giggles. There was a lil rumor that he had onions car moved across town from Hecht to his house one day at practice. That was super the beginning to the end. You're in the fact he wasn't gonna kiss his *** & injury troubles & that's that.

Me I'm not gonna read through all this but if really hope the resounding winner on this thread would be Willis. And to me I can't think of anyone close...

I dont disagree, you really had to see the full games to see how good/great/incredible Willis was, and just how many times he bailed out the offense. In every game he had at least 125 yards of offense from scrimmage (IIRC).

When he got hurt in the Fiesta Bowl...yeah, it was worse than when the Fat Boys broke up. Happened right in front of me basically....

before the fiasco bowl game, my bro and I were with Vilma's dad and we discussed how Gore was back to full health and was tearing up the first team in practice.

I told them that if McGahee gets hurt, we better burn Gore's redshirt.

Low and Behold, Clappy did not play Gore when McGahee got hurt, and Gore left without using that redshirt year. What a waste!!

Didn't Dan Stubbs have a single monsteropus season? I know he had a great career, but fee there was season in particular that he had 39 sacks.

Mel Bratton had that season where he had like 7 touchdowns in the first 2 games.

Jerome was always awesome and important. His last year could get a nomination.

Forgot about Stubbs season. That was that 1986 season. I believe it’s still a team record for sacks in a season, correct? (17)

Sorry but McGahee in 2002 by a landslide. His numbers will never be duplicated and I'm not sure anyone will come close. ****, Edge, Portis, JJ, Gore, Duke, Miller did not come close. The TD's alone are beyond comparison.

On defense I have to go with Morgan in 2000 or Sapp in 1994.
This.

Also Dorsey 2001, Bernie 1983, Sapp '94, Reed '00 or '01.

I think for 100 players, we need to open our eyes wider.... for a clear example, the senior season of Braxton "Honey Nut" Berrios.

And, although more iffy", maybe the senior season of Brock Berlin.

****, Tremaine Mack is probably deserving too.

Jim Burt, Eddie Brown, Michael Irving, Bennie Blades, Kevin Williams, Burgess Owens, Daniel Stubbs, Antrell Rolle, etc., Michael Barrow, Jay Brophy, Alonso Highsmith, Dennis Harrah, Dan Cline, Jim Otto, Jerome Brown, etc

Stubbs had an incredible yr in 1986, but he kind of owes alot of that to Jerome being double/tripled teamed on a regular basis.....
Medearis is the Best true Edge rusher in UM History.....Never has been a Motor like his....especially being as undersized as he was.
Do you have any idea how many people read this and think 🤔 who? Lol it’s crazy the ones who get no respect! Absolutely the best true edge rusher in UM history

Dan Morgan 2000.

Butkus Award, Bednarik Award, Nagurski Award.

One of the greatest seasons for any defensive player anywhere, ever.

....

That season was amazing..... Dan was an absolute wrecking machine in every sense of the saying....
I know we're talking Canes here but what Dan did defensively compares to what Barry did offensively in his '88 junior season.. Just crushed everything in his path...

Thinking about unexpected domination:

-Willis in 02, he was supposed to be 3rd string. Best single season by a running back.

-Willis in 18, I pitty everyone who had to block him. He only had 1 move (the bully) but it was relentless. When he was in the game the offensive line would have a big dent in it.
-Freeman in 07, for dominating the practice squad and 1 drive against FSU.

-Meriwether in 05, Threat really came on in 04. I remember Coker answering questions about that in the pre-season. He said Threat was still doing extremely well but Meriwether was incredible and took things to another level that off-season.

The connection? Larry Coker

Nah....Willis in 02 at worst would've been 2nd string....No way on earth would he have been 3rd....
