Jon Jones the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is making his return back to competition in a grappling match vs former WWE World Heavyweight & US Champion formally known as “Jack Swagger”.
Jake has also wrestled on numerous promotions including ECW, Lucia Underground & AEW. And while primarily being known as a sports entertainment wrestler has also had a few fights in MMA as a Bellator competitor. If you’re wondering why he would have a grappling match with Jon Jones (aside from the money obviously lol), his background is as a collegiate All-American wrestler at Oklahoma.
Jon Jones has also competed as a grappler before some years ago when on the Submission Underground promotion where he beat Dan Henderson.
Also for those that missed it, one of the best upcoming Chechen savages who has taken the UFC by storm, Khamzat Chimaev had a Freestyle Catch wrestling match another UFC fighter in Middleweight (185lbs) Jack Hermansson. Khamzat is a Welter (170), although he obviously walks around at a much bigger weight. But he absolutely ragdolled Hermansson.
But along with his meteoric rise as a 10-0 undefeated MMA fighter, Khamzat is actually an amazing high level Freestyle wrestler & is an undefeated multiple time National Swedish Gold medalist with a 24-0 record.
Khamzat is seen as the successor to Khabibi with similar backgrounds (both being from the very close regions in the North Caucuses of Chechnya & Dagestan) & similar styles in their approach to MMA, Khamzat has set himself apart from the rest of the pack & is definitely a future potential multiple division champion.
