Give me our chances vs UF

Is this a guarantee win? I don't know if Fletcher is playing but without him I feel like we might have trouble bc of the coaching staff..
So you are concerned that the backup RB is not playing..............................

We have two fail-safes. If our front seven can both contain the RB and pressure Mertz, we win comfortably and can make use of the entire playbook on both sides of the ball.

Barring that, we should still win if Ward plays to the level he's capable of and doesn't turn over the ball. There is no way Mertz and UF can keep up with the scoring potential of our offense as long as Ward is "on". I really don't want to have to rely on him, though, so I'm hopeful we can shut them down.

fletcher being out doesn’t effect our chances

Martinez will be our workhorse back this year

If he got injured and fletch wasn’t ready that’s a different discussion

This game could go several ways depending on how polished we are in game 1. That's the question for both teams.

With that said, if our offense is on schedule, I'm expecting a blowout. If Miami gets out to an early double digit lead, that home field advantage will be gone. Gator fans will turn on Napier. There's just too much firepower on our offense. Will they show oit in game 1 is the question?

Florida was one of the worst teams defensively last year. I don't know how that gets fixed for game 1. Sure, they should be better than last year, but how much do they improve for game 1 2024? Florida was 70th against the pass and 79th against the run. I expect improvement, but I don't see that team breaking into the top 20 in either category. I firmly believe Miami will have ample opportunities to score.

In order for this to be a close game, Miami will need to play sloppy getting penalties and turning the ball over.

I believe by the end of the year, Miami has a top 10 offense and a top 20 defense. Its a matter of csn they play at that level in game 1? Miami was 24th in total defense last year. The defense was really good, they were just overshadowed by offensive turnovers and poor QB play.

I'm expecting Cam Ward to make a statement in game 1. He's going to announce himself as one of the best QB's in college football.

My bold prediction: Canes 42 - 17.

If we beat them 42-17, ya’ll will hear about me on the national news the following morning.

Early prediction is 34-23 Miami, which is pretty in-line with the opening total of 54.5.

I think they can move the ball on us in spurts, particularly on the ground. I know our rushing D was pretty good last year but I do expect for them to have some success with Montrell, and Billy is good for a few chunk misdirection plays (just not sustained throughout the game). I think we can clamp down in the red zone and hold them to field goals, whereas I’m way more confident in Ward torching their back seven and for Martinez to surpass or get close to 100 yards on the ground.

Ward 21/33, 316 passing with 3 TDs 0 INT.
Martinez 21 carries for 113 yards, TD

I think we can get multiple chunk plays on this defense, both through the air and on the ground.

Question hermano. Are you saying Billy Napier doesn't have EVEN MORE meltdowns than Mario? Are we at least acknowledging he has quite a few brain farts his **** self?
Side note, hope you enjoyed the sabbatical brother.
was thinking the same ... he's not exactly a coaching savant ... also, mario has won big games before, TAMU last year was huge at the time, not to mention his previous stop

playing and beating the Gators is the same as beating south carolina or arkansas on the road. its not a rivalry in the sense a lot of high school guys played against each other. Maybe andy jean or few others and that is it. Mostly transfers from other states or guys recruited from other area than SF. We dont play the game every year. The crowd and experienced qb with a few good recievers and barely above average back is barely what they have, nothing special on offense and their defense is trash.

WTF are you talking about? Beating the Gators is not a rivalry? GTFOH!

Were you actually at that game? If you were, you’d know we win that game if JT4 fields a punt. It literally killed our chances of winning. Being on the sidelines with the players, this took everything from their spirit. It was utterly demoralizing. I was sick to my stomach.
I was there. Nearly impossible to win any game your QB is running for his life but point taken.

For whatever reason far too many people here focus on an overblown narrative. Most acknowledge Mario can recruit BUT he can't recruit QB or cbs. Than he lands them and no one acknowledges it. It wasn't on us that we didn't sign Rashada or McClain. Then it's Dts and wr etc etc etc. Rinse & repeat... It's his game day coaching, he can't figure it out he gets in the oc way... All this for a guy that's won plenty of big games. Won the pac 12 twice. Got to the championship 3 times. Won the Rose bowl... But all we do is talk up the losses he's had over his career even though basically 3 quarters of them came at FIU. It's tiresome all the different narratives. That's not saying he doesn't have issues. Cause we'd have to be blind to say there is none. But at least acknowledge there's two sides to this coin.

That's because you have no idea what your talking about because if you did even if Fletcher was completely healthy he wouldn't be starting over Damian Martinez.

You’re not wrong, you’re logical as always. While there are two sides to this coin, Mario has a fantastic opportunity to create his own narrative with the team he’s assembled. He’s been given the tools and built a **** good product. Everybody here wants to see him take that product and succeed. The ball is in his court, and I’m betting on him that knows what to do with it!

Quick analysis: Thier qb is returning, even though their secondary was bad last year, it’s hard to believe they won’t improve, their best linebacker was a freshman, Dline is good their strength is their tackles, offensive line wasn’t good last year, but return a couple starters along with some transfers. They do have a couple play makers at wr.

QB:Miami
RB:Miami
TE: Even
WR: Miami
OL: Miami
DE:Miami
DT:Florida
LB:Miami
Corner: Florida
Safety: Florida

I think we have a pretty good enough advantage to overcome the home field advantage and win in the swamp.
Change TE to Miami and I agree.
